"Also, how did Carl get the sole production credit for TTGA if Brian was involved all the way?"
because the song literally was stolen from Brian
You keep stating things that are just factually untrue. Who do you think's singing lead in the chorus? I know that it’s not a question, but iirc Brian & Al. I agree, spreading false info or lying won’t get you anywhere hideyotsuburaya. If you weren’t at the sessions or have any evidence then don’t spread information if you don’t really know, or if you’re being a jerk. Just saying.

The Twitter account @beachboyslegacy posted the following info, I have no idea whether the info is true or just a wish list, but I'd be very happy (esp för I've got a Friend) if it is true:
Feel Flows, The Beach Boys box-set, will include material from Dennis Wilson's lost album 'Poops/Hubba Hubba'. These are the tracks that will probably be in the set:
Settle Down Ol' Movie Behold The Night It's A New Day I've Got A Friend Baby, Baby All Of My Life/Ecology Remember: Settle Down: Sound Of Free early version Ol' Movie: Cuddle Up early version Behold The Night It's A New Day: shampoo commercial I've Got A Friend Baby, Baby: performed live once by The Beach Boys All Of My Life/Ecology = River Song early version
AGD said that Howie said just as much last year and it was pretty already known to be considered for the set. This is pretty much a reconfirmation or a repost just for the Twitter page.

Thanks Craig for both of those. I should really start considering whether or not session tapes have been heard...
I have one question relating to the percussion overdubs on Time To Get Alone. Were they different from what was used in the final version (which has Vibraphone & Glockenspiel)? I heard somewhere on one of the threads that there were percussion overdubs on Oct. ‘67, which were then replaced by the vibes and glockenspiel the following year. Is that correct, or am I just tired?
The only new instrumentation added to Time to Get Alone for 20/20 was the glockenspiel and an unused 12-string guitar. Everything else, including vibes, came from '67. Alright so the Vibraphone is absolutely Gene Pello. Who played the glockenspiel? Not necessarily, Pello doesn't have any recognized mallet credits through his career. Strictly a drummer type. On that basis it's likely to be Brian. As for the glockenspiel, that's a question that can't really be answered. At a guess, Brian again, or Dennis. Looking at the information we have, no one else could have played the vibes except Brian. I should've guessed then. Glockenspiel I would say was also Brian. Brian was the most dedicated to the song, so of course he would try to make sure it's perfect for release. I could be wrong but that's the impression I get.

Well, Bobby Figueroa wasn't used on the KTSA sessions, either (meaning, Mike Meros was the only guy from the then-current road band who was). As for Smilin' Ed...he DID make an appearance at the session for THIS song, obviously invited to play on it because he wrote it. However, they recut the track a week later without him. Can't say for sure which version the vocals were added to, but presumably it was the second.
SURFER SUZIE (version 1) Track - United Western, 10/17/79 (Eng.: Chuck Britz) Keyboards: Brian, Bruce, Mike Meros Guitars: Ed Carter, Bill House Bass: Jerry Scheff Drums: Gary Mallaber
SURFER SUZIE (version 2) Track - Kendun Recorders, 10/23/79 (Eng.: Steve Desper) Keyboards: Bruce, Mike Meros Guitars: Steve Ross, Bill House Bass: Bryan Garofalo Drums: Ricky Fataar Overdubs - Rumbo, 10/29/79 Guitar: Bill House
Vocals - Jardine's Barn, Big Sur, 11/7/79 Vocals - Rumbo, 11/13/79 Vocals - Rumbo, 11/28/79 Vocals - Rumbo, 11/30/79 Vocals - Rumbo, 12/5//79 Vocals - Rumbo, 12/6//79 Lead: Al
Thanks Craig! Never knew that about there being 2 versions!

Might as well ask something to get it off my mind... two questions
1. Who played on I Went To Sleep? I already heard from one of the other threads on here that Jimmy Bond played double bass, Jay Migliori played flute and Brian played piano (the latter was obvious). I hear an acoustic guitar, bongos and tambourine. Also mentioned on one of those threads was a Chamberlin and I can very much hear one playing throughout the song.
2. Umm... is there a tambourine and Celeste on This Whole World? You can hear something (not a glockenspiel) at the beginning of the track and some other points in the song? Also hearing some percussion instrument being used during the verses that sounds like a tambourine, but I wouldn’t know for sure.

Final question from me today? Who played on (Wouldn’t It Be Nice To) Live Again? It sounds like Dennis on piano. I hear a moog, a Celeste (both simple), flutes (I think that’s Charles Lloyd), and some pretty complex bass and drums.
And before my curiosity gets the better of me, what about 4th of July? BTW the version on the box set sounds really bad it’s not even funny. Worse than San Miguel & I Just Got My Pay. I love all three songs though.
For both of those, and lots of others from the era, keep an eye out for the next issue of ESQ which should be coming in the not too distant future. Off the top of my head, Live Again was Dennis on piano, Carl on guitars, Daryl Dragon on bass, and Dennis Dragon on drums. Flutes were probably Kathy Dragon, and any other instrument you hear on there is a Moog. For that matter, a lot of your questions are covered in various ESQ sessionographies over the years. You'd do well to treat yourself to some back issues. I really should get a subscription. You can buy previous issues online correct? EDIT: Now that was a stupid question. Forget I ever said that.

Hmmm... so I reckon there isn’t any information? I haven’t really seen or heard of anything yet.
