76  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: What did we learn at the Q&A? on: January 26, 2015, 12:37:22 PM
What did we learn? To limit the number of questions to posters with more than 1000 posts (which rules me out for a start) so that the long-term members and scholars/historians get the look-in they deserve. Worth keeping in mind for next time. :=)

Never going to happen.  NEVER.
77  Smiley Smile Stuff / BRIAN WILSON Q & A / Re: Hey from Brian - I gotta go on: January 26, 2015, 11:36:09 AM
Thank you Brian, it was an honor and a privilege to have you here today!

So Charles...The guy raised some dust...and...as it turned out...still left no tracks?   Huh

We're just here...now...following the scent?

Almost everything has a price to obtain.
79  Smiley Smile Stuff / Ask The Honored Guests / Re: Darro thread pulled ? on: January 20, 2015, 10:37:20 AM
He flatly stated that Brian never wrote any lyrics, period, that they were the uncredited work of Mike, Usher, Christian et al, as confirmed - like so much of his piece - by Brian in private conversation. Then, illogically, he gives Mike grief for trying to get that credit recognised. Heads I win, tails you loose.

Perhaps that is the answer?  Something is loose?  Maybe what we saw wasn't an imposter or an attempt to falsely accuse, but instead the actions of someone who can't properly remember the past and is empowered by the internet to display that factual failing?
80  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: I need help identifying some Brian Wilson bootlegs I've found. on: January 20, 2015, 03:07:28 AM
Hi all. I found a couple of records at my local record store that I've never seen or heard of before, and I haven't been able to find any information about them online. I was hoping someone here may have some more info about them.

I have copies of The New Album and Adult Child vinyl bootlegs you found.  They were some of the first BB bootlegs I ever bought.  I thought it was intriguing that the narratives on the back of the covers were written to sound as if Eugene Landy wrote them.   Unless I'm thinking of something else.
81  Smiley Smile Stuff / Ask The Honored Guests / Re: Darro thread pulled ? on: January 20, 2015, 03:04:29 AM
I was also a bit surprised to see it gone.  Not that I think removing the thread, or at least closing it, was a bad idea; he did, after all, start spewing false information and ad hominem attacks (against Marilyn Wilson, of all people!) from his first post.  I was just a bit surprised that it vanished without warning; for a moment, I wondered if I'd imagined the whole thing.

Maybe you did...

Maybe we all did...

For better or worse, you did not imagine it.

Lock it. Delete any content that may cause genuine legal exposure for the Chairman of the Board.  Note such reasons or trade offs in the post.   But to vanish an entire, and somewhat visible, thread?

I'm not a lawyer, and anyone can sue anyone, especially here in the United States, but I don't know that I've ever worried about "legal exposure" from something someone else has said on this board.  But thank you for thinking of me.   Smiley

Hi it's Brian. Just wanted to say hi. Exciting news soon. Love & Mercy.

Welcome to Smiley Smile Dot Net, Brian!
84  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The kindlier face of this board... on: August 25, 2014, 03:16:03 AM
This may not be strictly OT. Don't care, it deserves a wider audience than The Sandbox.

Over the years this board has had dark times but I will never, ever forget the sympathy and consideration shown to me here five years ago today when my wonderful mother passed away, from all posters including those who rightly had no need to be even civil to me given my treatment of them. That warmed my heart and made those early dark days a little lighter, a little easier. Some have themselves left us, other have moved on but many are still here - you'd think we'd have found something better to do by now, huh ? - and to all, I reiterate my gratitude and heartfelt thanks. We are basically good people.

Some of the other forum participants may indeed be good people, but you are (and will always be) the Darth Vader of The Beach Boys fan community. And you are likely proud of that.

AGD, I'm sorry you ever had see that comment.  And thank you for thanking what is often the finest online community there ever has been.
85  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Is this Brian signature Legit? You Make the Call! on: May 15, 2014, 11:00:50 AM
Fake - if you can read "Wilson", it's not kosher.

I've been advised by highly reliable sources that the signature in question is the real deal.  Speculate no more.

Publix had bok choy, but it was enormous, so I bought a package of triple washed, ready to eat, organic baby spinach instead.  Good stuff on my sandwich!

How about the Capo di tutti capi of Smiley Smile? Because it is a killer message board?

That might work.  Or, if this were a video game, I could be the final boss.
88  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Once Upon a Time… – a hypothetical question. on: April 21, 2014, 08:55:12 AM
Given that I have no guarantee that I will always be able to hear Beach Boys music or see the Beach Boys, no more than I have a guarantee I will always be able to eat dark chocolate; and given that there are multiple ways I could be a blessing to others if I had access to a sum of tax free money; I can't say the answer would be an absolute "no."  However, depending on how much currency I ask for, and the country of origin of the currency, I could essentially destroy the value of a nation's currency, which would make my sacrifice pointless.

There's a lot to consider here before coming to a final answer.

I am many things.  Owner. Operator.  Distiller Of Truth.  Master Of Disaster.  One Trick Pony.  Try counting my facets and you will run out of time.
Sorry, my 1st language isn't English. I can't still figure out whether you're chief of Smiley board or not. Simple yes or no?

How would you define "chief" in this case?

And English isn't anyone's first language, when you think about it.  My first language involved a lot of crying, and eventually I learned English.  And one word of French.

So what I actually read on this case doesn't mean anything?

I'm just glad someone is finally on the case.  It's about time.
What do you mean? You really aren't an owner anymore?

I've never eaten fawn but adult deer meat is quite good - something that could be perfectly supplemented by some Bok Choy. Seriously, it makes any meal a good one.

How do you think Bok Choy would go with buffalo?  I've seriously had buffalo recommended to me as the best meat you can eat.
93  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: You should be ashamed of yourselves !! on: April 21, 2014, 03:27:47 AM
The chairman of the board? This is getting heavy.
Fyi, no, he is not. He used to, but now other people run this board. That "chairman" signature just a mere reminder of the past.

Yes, other very fine people moderate this board, and no, it's not just a reminder of the past.

I must check my local Publix and see if they sell bok choy.

I'm telling you though, the power of the original green should be recognized. It is the best vegetable.

Other than the "original green," what other name or names does that vegetable go by?
95  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: You should be ashamed of yourselves !! on: April 21, 2014, 02:31:28 AM
I think the best way to lose weight is just to cook all your food yourself. Puts YOU in control of your meal, and that control branches to other areas of your life.

Yes!  Control is the word.   Whether it is food or anything else, how you act or react is up to you.  The exercises I've been doing emphasize that.  Good advice, Woodstock!
96  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: You should be ashamed of yourselves !! on: April 21, 2014, 02:24:31 AM
Strangely, I don't recall Louis Armstrong ever looking very thin.

Plus, thanks, but I'm not looking for a temporary diet, I'm making long-term eating changes.    And, incredibly enough, exercising.
97  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: You should be ashamed of yourselves !! on: April 21, 2014, 02:14:25 AM
Heavy?  Well, yes, but I am actively attempting to lose weight.   It's just very clear it's not a overnight process.

99  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian with Jeff Beck Fall Tour Dates on: October 07, 2013, 06:08:01 AM
I had the sense that the St Augustine show was shorter than many of the others on this tour because of a strict 10 PM cutoff time on weekday concerts, as the amphitheater is in the middle of a neighborhood.

All three "original Beach Boys," as they were introduced by Foskett, sounded great last Thursday.  And all night they had a running gag, calling each other "The Great Al Jardine", "The Great David Lee Marks", "The Great Brian Wilson"-- Brian at one point  said "The Great" and never finished it, and Al and David laughed like they were trying to decide if they should finish it or just move on.

EgoHanger, was the meet and greet part of a package that included a ticket to the concert?  I ask because in St Augustine, there were people with meet and greet badges that later were asking about buying a ticket for the concert while my brother and I were waiting for our after concert passes.  Seemed very strange to me that a meet and greet person wouldn't already have a ticket.

Also, since I think you went to a 50th anniversary show, did Al Jardine appear to be happier this year compared to last year?  My brother commented that he seemed more at ease during this concert compared to a year ago.
