I, of course, only tracked down a copy many, many years ago because of Dennis. I had no idea how much I was going to love it. Who ever thought of making an art road movie?! Gosh Darn brilliant film and one of my favourites of all time.

The movie was meh.. I listened to the soundtrack on youtube. Not feeling it. Dont need Dont worry baby, god only knows or good vibrations yet again in my collection. Therefore I prolly will not be buying these. It's unfortunate.. I was looking forward to it.
you posted on the wrong group! You belong with taylor Swift Firstly what is wrong with Taylor Swift? Secondly she recently praised the film on Twitter to her 63 million followers.

p.s.: was it Mr. Mark Linnett, whom we see so often in the film (even though he doesn't look a thing like Chuck Britz) that uttered the line "it's going to cost $5000" (when Brian wants to cancel a SMiLE session)? Yep. p.p.s.: in the '60s scenes at Brian's home, and at the studio too, there were quite a few scenes w/ background individuals shooting a little 8mm movie camera
Good eye. Paul Dano absolutely deserves a nomination. He dove headfirst into this role. He was good but not that good. I still don't understand why he felt the need to always have his head pulled back like he did.

Not sure if this has been discussed yet and it's a smallish thing but did anyone else find it odd that neither John nor Paul talked out one side of their mouths in their performances? Watch any Brian interview and you see it (this is nothing new to anyone on here obviously), it's not a subtle thing and I find it perplexing that neither actor did it, especially Cusack who is very much an actor's actor.
My only real disappointment with the film was how quickly Smile is dealt with and the non inclusion of the building fire after the Mrs o'Leary's Cow session. To me that track and the paranoia surrounding it is a pivotal point in Brian's breakdown.
I thought I noticed Cusack doing it a couple times. He did the facial tics and pauses well but never really did the side of mouth thing, Paul didn't do it at all.

I finally got to see it today after it came out here in Aus last week but I had a bad cold all week. I'd won tickets and was so bummed I couldn't go on the first day. Anyway, I took my best friend and had high expectations. It wasn't quite what I expected and I feel it could have been a little shorter but I really enjoyed it and want to see it again without first time expectations. My friend isn't much into Beach Boys but is a very a talented musician and she really loved it, I thought she was bored at one point but turns out she was very moved by the whole thing and was crying at the end. I wish it was out on Blu-ray already, it's going to suck waiting for it.
