Great memory, Rocker!

Do It Again

Michael talks longer than normal (prearranged) giving me extra time to set up for drum effect.

Note use of Phillips unit to produce Drum effect LIVE and Dennis love’s it

In second verse effect backs off to regular drum sound

Missed Mike cue while dealing with Phillips unit for next effect

Piano brought up to push beat along with organ

Itīs neither Charles Lloyd nor Robert Kenyatta. Itīs Ricky Fataar playing the flute here.

I'd love to have the mono All Summer Long LP too, but they say it's $25 shipping to Germany... does anybody know a way to get it for less than $55?

Try jpc.de:

Bruce also contributed a song to the fun A.I.P. 1959 drive-in classic GHOST OF DRAGSTRIP HOLLOW.  The song in question is a very Bruce-like ballad called "I Promise You" credited to Bruce Johnston and Judy Harriett.

also released as a single in August 1959:

Has Al's Crumple Car ever appeared on a bootleg? To my knowledge, I've never heard it on anything...I was pretty surprised when I found this:

Drummer on Rockin' New Years Eve is almost certainly Kowalski (er... or Figueroa ?), I think it was established some years ago. Apologies if I'm talking more nonsense than usual, it's 6.32am here, just woken up.  Smiley

I sure thought that looks like Ricky at 3:40 on that video? But it's blurry so a bit hard to tell for sure...
I think it's either Ricky or Bobby F. I really doubt that's Mike K.

It was Ricky (drums) and Bobby (percussion)!

He played harmonica on the album "Help me Ronda" afaik. But nothing else I would know about.

He also played harmonica on "Please Let Me Wonder".

I was reading an issue of Endless Summer Quarterly from June of 1995 and part of the news and updates went on to say that Tom Petty had Diamond Head in his setlist "recently". Anyone know if there's a recording of this "out there"? I'm not a big Tom Petty fan, so I wouldn't know. Interesting to note though.

Yes, Tom Petty had "Diamond Head" in his setlist - a cover of a song by The Ventures !!

1. Does 'I've Got Love' have anything to do with 'We Got Love'?

Totally different song!
15  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: I've Got Love on: March 22, 2014, 03:27:01 AM
No fake at all!

Aside from ""Iīve Got Love" the tape features attempts at "Loretta Laredo" and "House Of Lies", all three sounding like Chaplin-Fataar compositions. The players are Carl, Blondie & Ricky. It was recorded at CFS Recording, Baambrugge (not the Moffitt-built BB Studio) by Theo de Jong.

According to the song timings listed on Wikipedia (I know, I know...) "Cotton Fields" is the single version, ergo can't be stereo. If you can confirm one way or the other, I'd appreciate that. Album version is about 2.20, single is 3.00 or so.

I REALLY liked Crabby Appelton ..Ive never seen that on cd either.
Both Crabby Appleton albums were released on CD by Collectorīs Choice in 2002.

For anyone interested in Michael Fennelly: Sundazed just released an intereresting collection called "Love Can Change Everything - Demos 1967-1972".

23  Smiley Smile Stuff / The Beach Boys Media / Re: Photos of Brian, Spring, Tandyn Almer at the Whiskey, 1970 on: April 08, 2013, 09:37:55 PM
Here you are:

The photos were taken by Earl Leaf and some appeared in the Sept 1970 Teen Magazine (for which publication Earl wrote a column). He states that the BBs threw a party for their "proteges" The Flame.  After the Flame played a set (there is a photo of this), Brian, Carl, Bruce and Billy Hinsche jammed with Desi Arnaz Jr on Drums and 16 year old Ricci Martin there too. Also taking part were BBs "womenfolk"-including Marilyn Rovell.   Therefore the pics come from sometime in the late summer of 1970 (early Sept at the latest).  Probably the party was to celebrate the completion of The Flame's first LP on Brother.

Do the photos really show Tandyn Almer? Itīs Ricci Martin, I think!
25  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys Journals Vol 1 & 2 on: February 10, 2013, 02:35:12 AM
… No Brian solo material…

There was a third set which was entirely Brian solo material. I found a copy recently though it wasn't in the best shape. Haven't even made my way through the whole thing yet as something called TWGMTR was released and I got distracted. I I ever get a spare minute I'll post the track list (though I think it was 4 or 6 CDs so might take a few coffee breaks!)

itīs a 7 CDs box set titled "Brian Wilson Sessions"

see the following link for the track list:
