BTW, I really can't decide what I'd like better as an opening. The way Mike & Bruce used the original "Surfin'" recording and then going live into it or "California girls", which - although used many, many times - still is a heck of an opening song ! Maybe they'll do "Do it again" though
What would be great would be if someone placed an old retro record player on the stage for the opening and started playing a vintage copy of the Surfin'record on the original Candix label!

Mike and Al must grow long beards for the occasion and Brian needs to wear a robe. Oh and Bruce needs to grow a mustache. But most importantly there needs to be a big build up for Brian's first appearance with Mike at the piano pounding out a heart wrenching rendition of 'Brian's Back' with Al, Bruce, David and John Stamos on backup and a montage of The Beach Boys on Full House appearing in the background. The room then goes dark and fireworks set off, Brian is lowered onto the stage by being attached to a rope but not before gliding across the arena and the audience goes crazy. Brian takes a microphone and sits down at the piano and they sing an extended coda for 14 minutes uttering Brian is back which eventually changes to the 'Shortenin' Bread riff. Mike starts to cry and goes in for a hug and Brian looks at his watch. The surviving members of The Grateful dead come on stage and they and the Beach Boys dive right into 'Okie From Muskogee'.

I hope they play Kokomo in the first 10 minutes or that woman who is always in the seat in front of me and incessantly screams "do kokomo!!1!11!!!" at all the BB and BW shows won't shut up until they do it!It should be illegal for those types of people to be let out of the house!

I rate Lennon/McCartney equally but starting with Revolver I tend to prefer McCartney over Lennon, I still think John wrote some fantastic songs afterwards but Paul carried the band through their last period IMO and his solo career is more fulfilling to me. His songs might not have the same depth as John's but he still made great melodies which just appeal to me more. (Ram>>>>>>>Imagine)

I once had a dream where the night before BWPS was going to be released in 2004 Mike Love sneaked into the Sunset Sound building and stole the mastertape of the album before it was to be distributed and replaced the tracklisting as revenge for not being involved in the project:
Mike Love Presents SMiLE:
Our Prayer Summer in Paradise Still Cruisin' Kokomo Looking Back With Love The Little Old Lady from Pasadena Monster Mash
Long, Tall Texan Jingle Bell Rock Santa's Goin' To Kokomo Viggie Rock 'n' Roll Country Bride/Surf's Up/Wrinkles (medley) Brian Is Back

I know i've arrived very late into the thread but am I the only one who finds the name of the song in the title "I Was Made To Love Her" quite ironic considering Carol seems is such a despised person on this board.

There's a reason albums like Smiley Smile and Sunflower get discussed more on these forums, its because outside of this forum and the more hardcore BB fans no one really knows about them, even in this day and age. Surfer Girl on the other hand is definitely one of the more commercial albums even if just in terms of the songs on it, Surfer Girl, Hawaii, Catch a Wave, In My Room and Little Deuce Coupe! These songs all define the BB image as a fun in the sun surfin band. (Not that there's anything wrong with that! )

Agree with God Only Knows being an A-side, I don't really think with a few exceptions they would have had any more hits in the late 60's/early 70's with songs that weren't chosen as singles. Remember they were forgotten about by the public at that time. That actually goes for a lot of their best work today in fact. (Sunflower and Friends)

Wow I thought I was the only one who thought that, that version of Great Balls Of Fire really cooks! BTW Ol' Jerry needs another 'better' bio movie while he's still around to see it! I'm surprised noboby has commented on this aspect yet:
"He will serve as exec producer and record his own renditions from Wil-son's solo album "Pacific Ocean Blue," released in 1977." WTF?!?!?! Worked out really well with the what-could-otherwise have been excellent Kevin Spacey bio of Bobby Darrin, "Beyond the Sea", didn't it?
I don't like the idea of re-recordings done by actors. Didn't work in "Walk the line", probably (!) won't work in The Drummer. An exception is Great Balls Of Fire but only because Jerry Lee re-recorded the songs himself (there was talk that Dennis Quaid would record them before) and out-did his originals if I might say so
