Just saw this now, thanks so much. Smiley You really are talented too, so your input means a lot.

It's interesting, I wouldn't call myself "down" as much as "afraid". I'm a bit scared to start up a new relationship after a long standing one ended, and I decided to take a long break. It's always hard to return to somewhat uncharted territory.

I should definitely try making a new album again Smiley Thanks for the motivation and the uplifting message!

Yeah I think guitar fool hits it on the head. The problem with these kind of releases is that they have to justify their existence by adding as much as humanly possible to the tracks with the orchestra. Look at fun fun fun, I think if they had Tastefully added a little bit of strings with some swells during the chorus tags and maybe some chugging cellos and stuff like that during the verses this could be pretty decent. But as it stands, it seems like they're really trying to justify this project by killing the feel of the songs with way too much production and way too much Orchestra

Title cut is the closest to smile style instrumentation Brian has got without going overboard into "pretender" territory

Tell her this is great! Reminds me of early ps1 games music! Make sure she has as many music tools as you can provide, so she can make the most out of her skills!

The irony of liberals grouping together all Trump supporters racist, especially when Hillary was affiliated with KKK leaders, is hysterical

People get denied visas all the time. I'm sure requests to meet Brian get denied all the time. Cheap political piece.

Nail on the head

Watch Antifa attacks on people's personal twitter videos. If anything they downplay the violence.

Viewing this drunk-- does it count if its only on friends birthdays?! Had a great time playing jack box party pack 3!

Knowing there are several left-leaning people who participate in this forum, I'm curious to hear your impressions about AntiFa-type groups and their activities. Talk about them from whatever perspective you'd like: are they necessary? morally justified? just another crew of thugs? doing more harm than good (or good than harm)? getting too much hype? not being talked about enough? intellectually coherent?

(I'm happy to hear from the right-leaning people, as well. It's just a little less likely to be interesting, in that relatively strong opposition is almost a given from that perspective, whereas there are quite a few different opinions I've heard from the left. But by all means, weigh in.)

I think it's a nuanced issue. I support the aspects that are performing effective counter-demonstrations. I don't find the "punching Nazis" mentality to be helpful.

Do you consider these situations "effective counter-demonstration"(s)?

No, I don't. But don't you think that I made that clear in the post you are responding to?

This isn't about responding to violence, it's about silencing people they don't agree with.

Technically it wasn't promoting it, because that (illegal) immigration had already happened. The policy didn't carry forward to new arrivals.

I'm not advocating entirely open borders, and certainly agree that a state has the right (and to some extent, obligation) to protect its borders. But the people affected by DACA seem like a silly target, in that whatever costs they've had to America are most likely to be in the past, with their futures likely to be as contributors (based on the criteria for eligibility). If you're going to have stronger enforcement to keep our future, new arrivals, that can be more reasonably argued, since they are more likely to cost the country money in the short term. It's a legitimate argument to have. But to focus on these kids seems mostly just like a spiteful and political move to excite a base without having any particularly big effects or benefits.

It would be a political win for the president, though, among his base. I'll admit that. It's also a great example of why executive orders are pretty stupid. The amount of time and effort wasted on non-legislated directives that are made, unmade, made, and unmade for purely political reasons is absurd. I understand the frustration from presidents with legislatures not getting anything done, and I understand the political benefits to presidents. But that doesn't make it a huge waste of time, energy, and thus money.

For me personally, it isn't about the cost. It's about the principal and the safety issues. We have an immigration system to keep our country safe and circumventing that simply because you don't want to go through a long process (long because it needs to be) then you aren't acting in the best interest of your future nation.

Finally ending DACA. Always thought it was a silly policy, why promote illegal immigration.
22  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Scott Bennett Update: He's Due to Be Released on: August 29, 2017, 01:16:19 PM
This is probably going to stir up some angry posts, but I'll say it anyway. Keep in mind that I haven't seen the security footage. Supposedly Scott was extremely drunk at the time of the rape. Hypothetically, can we forever condemn a man for his actions during what may have been a "blackout drunk"? Something that he would have absolutely no memory of, and something that he wouldn't have done in a million years, had he been "mentally conscious"(hypothetically speaking)? I don't deny that it was rape, and the girl in question is definitely scarred for life. But can we give up on him as a low down, evil rapist and preditor?
100% Agreed. I think, after he finished the sentence he deserved, he should be forgiven socially. He can't really be blamed for what he's done after that, because that'll make it hard for him to live. That situation would possibly lead him to committing another crime or suicide or something harmful to the society.

I'm a believer of human rights. Thus, I believe that those who once infringed other's human rights should be given rights as equally as those who doesn't commit crime after he's done with punishment. It'd be another story for serial or cruel murderers, though.

Glad to see this. A while back I claimed that mental illness and alcoholism can lead to some fu**ed up sh*t. I said something along the lines of imagining the possibility that brian could even have done something like this and everyone flipped out. This is a better way of wording my point. It's horrible, but don't condemn the person for life.

Just to reiterate: i don't believe he ever had, I just point to him as a person with mental issues who could hypothetically be in a situation like this

I'm just trying to provide a different point of view here. I feel like this is (because it is) an echo chamber of Trump hating big govt love. Not trying to sway anyone, just tired of seeing "do people still like Trump?"
