1.the chicken dance
2.eat it (beach boys style)
3.macerana (a beautiful duet between Brian and Al (jardine) and Al (yankovic)
4.polka girls (new song)
5.the love polka (a new song co-written by Mike Love and Brian)
6.accordian to you (a brand new love song about how evertyhing is "according" to you ,you get it? accordian? according? yeah it took me awhile to get it too..
7.polka surfin (another brand new song)
8.forever polka (an unreleased Dennis wilson instrumental with brand new vocals by john stamos)

9.california polka(weird al doing a polka version of california girls.)
10.the polka car (a brand new car)

I think the Beach Boys just don't want an album that is number 2, like Summer in Paradise.
when you say #2 do you mean the second worst cd in the history of man kind.."the caveman hits a stick and rocks" being the worst?
1654  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Interesting quote from Mike recently about reunion songs on: August 18, 2011, 10:22:23 AM
Mike Love is still wanting to write 'fun in the sun' songs as he did in his early 20s, almost 50 years later? Stop the presses!
lol...it seems that thosse are the ONLY songs that he wants to reccord (other then country of course)..they should just mix it up and have both fun in the sun and experamental and not fight over it and make it a cd that shows all their differrent styles after all it IS an anniversary cd..just please NO COVER TUNES!!!! Razz

If it sold so poorly, how did BWRG go to #1 on the jazz chart?? Or is it that easy?? And if so, why have I not yet released a jazz album?
it's easy for a jazz cd to go number 1 since there aren't as many released,so for example if BWRG is the only jazz cd to be released that week or within a couple weeks or even a month then of course it's going to go number 1 since there are no other new jazz cds for it to go against. now if he won jazz cd of the year at the grammys then THAT would be something big in the jazz community...

I don't know about having a number 1 cd but the record companies should at least promote his cds with tv commercials etc..I wonder how much promotion "Smile" will get after all it IS the most famous unreleased album in rock n roll history, they should at least promote the hell out of it,in my opinion, I know that when Brians solo version came out it didn't get a lot of promotion and it still did pretty good though..

BWPS was promoted well in the UK....I didn't visit the USA that year so I can't comment. BWPS peaked at number 7 on this side of the pond....aided by a clever ad in the press (a spoof ad asking the reader to look for this album lost 37 years ago) and an advance single (Wonderful, mentioned above) which actually got some mainstream radio play. There was even a TV advert, ableit late at night on some cable channels.

Curiously TLOS received no promotion that I saw....although BBC Radio 2 (music station aimed at an audience too mature for chart music) did play several songs from it. TLOS, despite being an excellent album with a handful of potentially commercial songs only charted at 37 in the UK.
yeah in america there was virtually no promotion other then an add in rolling stone..

1659  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: During the 'Bicycle Rider' section....... on: August 15, 2011, 09:30:34 PM
this section was originally going to be "h&v part 2"..origianlly Heroes and villians was going to be a two parter, part one starts with "i've been in this town etc" and ended with "in the cantina" and an instrumental part two stared with the frogs/bicycle rider etc and ended with "SO LONG TO THE CITY" etc..when they released the single originally they simply took the first half of part one and the second part of part two and made one song out of it taking out the cantina and the frogs/bicycle rider stuff..when brian released his version of "smile" he didn't do h&v1 and h&v2 he just did the "single version" with the "cantina version" added to it .. I hope they decide to restore part 1 and part 2 when the release the smile set because it makes more sense that way and that's how it was meant to be heard..

God I love it when people post their dreams on here as facts

I read this a long time ago in Domenic Priore's "Look, Listen, Vibrate, Smile" book which described in detail all of the smile songs..

I would rather have mono/stereo releases with singles/b-sides and unreleased stuff instead of re-releasing the twofers
1662  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson Smog Comments on: August 15, 2011, 09:26:14 AM
One of my favorite Brian moments came on a brief tv interview with Mike & Brian, done by the Santa Monica Pier, which I unfortunately didn't manage to record.  It was sometime in the early eighties, and Brian said something to the effect of, 'Yeah, I'm really into, what's that called - cosmetology???', whereupon Mike rolled his eyes heavenward, and said, "No, Brian, it's ecology!"   Totally priceless moment, and totally Brian!
lol..that's funny.. LOL
1663  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson Smog Comments on: August 14, 2011, 08:47:30 PM
Man don't tell me that the smog ramble was a joke...
well they have a skit on the cd where Brian falls into a microphone and they are trying ot get him out...another skit where he falls into a piano and everytime they pluck a note he acts like the hammers are hitting him I guess they settled for a skit where someone falls into a french horn  lol...so it wouldn't surprise me if it WAS a joke..
1664  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson Smog Comments on: August 14, 2011, 08:14:08 PM
I'm not sure that it aired anywhere..I have it on a smile boot that not only features that but a bunch of other "talking" stuff including jokes and skits an other weird stuff including the "I''ve got a bag full of vegatables" song that was on the hawthorne c.d. and the skit where hal blaine is telling brian to keep off his property from the same hawthorne cd..so I'm assuming the smog thing comes from the same sessions..I could be wrong though..the cd is interesting although kind of boring,,,
1665  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / will there be any new original songs on the Disney cd on: August 13, 2011, 09:23:47 PM
i was wondering if the upcoming Disney c.d. will have any new songs written by brian as tribute songs to disney on it? or maybe a new version of "Disney girls"....any thoughts? also which famous Disney songs do you think/hope will be on it? I'm going to assume "when you wish upon a star" will be on it I think it would be cool for him to do it and add a little bit of "surfer Girl" at the end of the song...also I know this song is considered to "P.I." for this generation but I think the siamese cat song would be cool also,,,,

1667  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: The Monkees Reunion Tour canceled on: August 13, 2011, 01:20:54 PM
I thought Nesmith was going to tour with them this year.  Was I dreaming that or did I read it somewhere? I see YouTube clips up until late July of this year and no Nesmith.  Did he just show up to a couple of gigs?

Did you know Mike Nesmith's Mom invented "White-out", that old correction liquid for typing mistakes?

no he didn't..I think he may have went to see them in concert at one point early in the tour though....

1669  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: The Monkees Reunion Tour canceled on: August 13, 2011, 12:42:54 PM
