There's a UK radio quiz about the news which plays music before some questions to illustrate the theme. About ten years ago it was doing a question about new nutritional guidelines and it played a healthy chunk of Vega-Tables. I didn't know the song then but thought it was amazing. Imagine my pleasure when I discovered it on Smiley Smile (hence my name).
"Ten years Ago"? My dad told me about this occuring the other day! Also, I heard Santa's Beard in morrisons... followed by a COVER of Little saint nick

Maybe he's comparing it to them in that the album is going to be very damn short.
When will people realise Carl and The Passions is one of the longer Bach Boys albums? Summer in Paradise: 41:02 [44:08 US] L.A.: 40:54 15 Big Ones: 39:14 That's Why Brian Made The Radio: 38:49 The Beach Boys: 37:53 Sunflower: 36:49 Holland: 36:24 Pet Sounds: 35:52 Love You: 34:46 CATP: 34:20Surf's Up: 33:51 Still Cruisin': 33:39 Keepin' The Summer Alive: 33:05 M.I.U. :32:14 Party: 31:04 20/20: 29:43 Today!: 28:55 Smiley Smile: 27:36 Shut Down Vol. 2: 27:31 Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!): 26:43 Friends: 25:29 Surfer Girl: 25:27 Little Deuce Coupe: 25:22 All Summer Long: 25:12 Surfin' Safari: 24:48 Surfin' U.S.A.: 24:25 Wild Honey: 24:23 [Well that was a waste of time] While of course they're all Genius/Classic(al) albums, let's not forget they are the BEACH BOYS By the way, you forgot: BBs Concert, New Album, Brian Loves You, California Feeling, Landlocked, Adult Child..... BBs In Concert I wasn't going for a comprehensive list, and was only aiming for officially released studio albums

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: so why are the mfls vinyl/cd so good?!

Essentially going from experience of their releases, I can only say this: With regards to the Pet Sounds MoFi CD, even in the version I have 'acquired', it sounds even better than the ever great Mark Linnett stereo mix - the EQ on the track is absolutely perfect, allowing each little nuance to truly become audible even in ways the Pet Sounds Sessions box cannot achieve [the only other PS stereo mix I own]. Equally, this is the greatest version for the dynamic range too - here it is compared to the still very dynamic 2012 remaster from MiC, with both tracks amplified to peak at 0dB for easy comparison: However, both these things are not factors you are going to notice without significant enough equipment [to an extent]. It doesn't have to be anything spectacular, but obviously the better your audio setup to more you will benefit from these releases. With regards to Vinyl, I haven't heard any of The Beach Boys releases myself, but I do own the Weezer MoFi catalogue on vinyl, and all 5 of these releases sound incredible, though don't forget the original releases of these would have far more dynamic range compression on them that most Beach Boys releases.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Amusement Parks U.S.A - thumbs up or thumbs down?

Neutral. I love the backing track but the words are a massive turn off. The themes in the song had been explored much better in earlier songs.
Exactly. I don't even like Amusement Parks that much, and I don't hail from the U.S.A. - This song was never gonna work on me! Why does not hailing from the USA affect your enjoyment of Amusement Parks USA? I'm from Yorkshire in England and I bloody love it! I don't not like it because it isn't called Amusement Parks Yorkshire. Do you not like Surfin' USA either? "Urgh, they're singing about places I've never been - what a turn off!" I know ,I was just trying to justify my point.
