Less well known Spector songs: Hung on You, Paradise, Is That What I Get for Loving You, Girls Can Tell, Run Run Run Runaway.
While this won't happen, I would totally behind something like that if he has to do covers. Brian Wilson covering Paradise? Hell yeah.

I saw M&B for the 4th time last week. It was the night after the Beacon show in which they did "All I Wanna Do", "I'm Waiting For The Day" etc. I was hoping i'd get that setlist, but hey, I'm a dreamer. It was still pretty good though. A little under 40 songs with at least a few non-hits like Good To My Baby, Kiss Me Baby etc.
Some thoughts:
Positive!
-Scott T and John C are rockstars. -I've never heard Jeff sound better -The sound was the fullest I've heard from the M&B band -Mike sounded like Mike. To be fair, when Brian sounds good, he doesn't sound like Brian anymore. (That's not a knock. I would literally die for Brian Wilson.) -As a straight twenty something male, Bruce singing Disney Girls makes me melt every time.
Other thoughts!
-Please retire Pisces Brothers. Please. For the love of God, please. -Please retire Summer In Paradise. Please -California Dreamin'. Every time I hear them play it, I'm always thinking, "guys, this will NEVER be your song", and I even thought that during C50. -Getcha Back - use the original lyrics. -Could do without Why Do Fools and Then I Kissed Her. -Mike using McGrath's Do It Again vocals. Why is he so proud of this? -If you call it the Wild Honey tour, you need to do more than the two singles from Wild Honey.
Here's a dream (but within reason, I think) setlist for the M&B band that would please both the average and hardcore fan.
The Beach Boys Wild Honey Tour 2017 Set 1
Surfin’ Safari Catch A Wave Little Honda It’s OK Hawaii Do It Again

Huge fan. Think I've seen them live eight times in the past few years, plus Blunstone solo once. They are the best live working band in the business right now (for my money).
The reunited lineup doing O&O was a thing to behold - just simply breathtaking.

C50 - Sands Bethelehem Events Center - the smallest venue they played on the tour, the second show ever in that venue. I won a contest via the local music paper blog. They planted five Beach Boys lyrics in five of their articles (randomly) spread throughout five days. When the fifth one appeared, the first person to email the editor with a list of all five lyrics and links to the articles would win a pair of tickets to the show. The first four days I found the references, one by one...and on the fifth day, I got up at 7, logged on to the blog, and hit the refresh button every minute.
9AM the article was posted, found the reference by 9:01, sent the email by 9:02, and got the call at noon. I won the tickets. Tenth row.
My favorite show of all time, and I've been to many that I count as my favorites. Seeing the five reunited Beach Boys, that amazing band, and that setlist was just heaven.

I adored the production on Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin; his voice is the best it's sounded in his solo career, and there are none of the adult contemporary arrangements we've seen from Joe Thomas.
I'd argue that Disney is his vocal peak. I've always wondered how they managed to make him sound so young and vibrant on that record - is he blended with someone else? Listen to Baby Mine and tell me that's not his best vocal since Caroline, No. (I know it's all subjective - but that's how I'd say it if we were having a face to face conversation....) Hope not to get flamed (pun intended), but I'd kind of like to see a Blondie-less Brian/Al album and tour at this point. Blondie adds an energy that creates a good highlight for the show (not the only highlight, but one of many). And if Brian is going to go ahead with recording a rock and roll album then keeping Blondie on makes perfect sense - his vocals are still great, he can play a mean guitar (if Brian wants to throw that flavor into one of his songs). I don't think Brian would want to limit his palette when it comes to bringing talent onboard for whatever album he has in store next. Sure, I do understand where you're coming from. I've seen Brian close to ten times since 2015 and the freshness that Blondie's set/antics brought the first few times are growing tired in my eyes. His current vocals are...an acquired taste for me but I do respect that people enjoy his presence and that he does seem to be a really cool guy. I want to hear Brian sing Sail On Sailor again (he always did a good job and I miss his hand motions). But, again, that's just a personal opinion/preference.

One thing in regards to the TLOS tracks - it would be a hassle for the producers/compilers/whomever to have to go back to the original digital multitracks and remix/create new fadeouts for many of those songs because of their suite nature. Most of them are not hard-edited, they flow into one another.
Of course we all have our preferences, I'd have chosen mostly different tracks than these - but then again, when passionate fans are asked to create a best-of, they never quite look like what gets released....

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / New Brian Wilson comp coming with "Run James Run" unreleased track.

This was posted on a music related board I frequent (you need a username and login to see posts). Looks like we'll get the first official release of Some Sweet Day and the Run, James, Run song (NOT Pet Sounds) that Al was hyping around the time of the NPP sessions.
I copy and pasted. Sorry if formatting is wonky:
Playback: The Brian Wilson Anthology CD
“Time jumps and sometimes time lands,” Brian Wilson wrote in his 2016 memoir, I Am Brian Wilson. Playback: The Brian Wilson Anthology is vivid proof this singular musical icon—who has come through more than his share of challenging times—has been able to spend the past three decades continuing and extending one of the most significant legacies in all of popular music history.
In the first part of his illustrious life in music, Wilson stood at the artistic center of one of rock ’n’ roll’s most iconic groups, The Beach Boys.
There are any number of compilations that document all the fun, fun, fun and art, art, art of that remarkable body of work.
Now with Playback: The Brian Wilson Anthology, we all get a chance to celebrate what could be considered the Second or Possibly Third Coming of Brian Wilson. This man—once written off by some prematurely as a musical casualty—has instead flourished and become one of the most uplifting survival stories of our times.
The Brian Wilson Anthology covers a notable period of renewal that started with the release of Wilson’s first solo album, 1988’s Brian Wilson.
Featured here are four of that acclaimed effort’s standout tracks, including the eight-minute symphonette “Rio Grande,” “Melt Away,” “Let It Shine” (written and coproduced with Jeff Lynne) and last, but hardly least, “Love And Mercy,” which has become known as one of Wilson’s most beloved classics. Indeed, “Love And Mercy” has gradually taken on such a meaningful place in Wilson’s legendary songbook that it was even used as the title of the acclaimed 2014 biopic that saw Wilson memorably played by both Paul Dano and John Cusack.
From Wilson’s 1998 Imagination album, this anthology includes two beautiful highlights, “Cry” and “Lay Down Burden,” the latter of which honors Brian’s late, great brother and fellow Beach Boy Carl Wilson, who died of lung cancer that same year.
In the wake of Imagination, Brian started to tour extensively as a solo artist, and by 2000 this icon, who famously stopped touring with The Beach Boys back in the ’60s, was proving to be a somewhat unlikely road warrior, even releasing his first live solo album, Live At The Roxy Theatre.
Beyond a strong set list that included lots of familiar hits and even a cover of The Bakenaked Ladies tribute song “Brian Wilson,” Live At The Roxy Theatre also featured some new material in “The First Time” and “This Isn’t Love,” a charming collaboration with Wilson’s Pet Sounds lyricist, Tony Asher.
Wilson’s next studio release, 2004’s Gettin’ In Over My Head, was a poppy, star-studded affair. Here you’ll find that album’s title track along with what is arguably Gettin’ In Over My Head’s finest and most moving song, “Soul Searchin’.” The track was built around a vocal recorded by Carl Wilson years earlier, allowing these two Wilson brothers to be reunited on one more magnificent song for the ages.
Ultimately, though, it was another 2004 album release that would mark a transcendent and long-delayed moment to remember in Brian Wilson’s illustrious creative life: Brian Wilson Presents Smile. This Grammy-winning release saw Wilson finally bringing to life the unfinished album that he had so famously failed to complete with The Beach Boys nearly 40 years earlier.
Bringing Smile back to life had started with a live reinterpretation of the album at the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 20, 2004, followed by other rapturously received live concert performances. And so it was that Wilson’s brave decision to revisit what was arguably his most painful failure became one of his greatest successes.
Inspired by that healing experience, Wilson and his amazing ten-piece touring band, as well as a ten-piece string section and an acoustic bassist, finally recorded and released a studio version of this long-lost masterpiece. Two of the many highlights of Brian Wilson Presents Smile are included here: “Surf’s Up” and “Heroes And Villains.”
Wilson’s positive creative energy from so successfully revisiting Smile could be felt on his next album, 2008’s conceptual That Lucky Old Sun. Included here is “Midnight’s Another Day,” not the sunniest song from the album, but one of the most haunting melodies on a collection full of lovely compositions.
Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin, from 2010, was a memorable meeting of musical minds, with Brian bringing a fresh take to many of the Gershwins’ greatest contributions to the American Songbook, as well as completing two unfinished songs, including “The Like In I Love You.”
A year later, Wilson released In The Key Of Disney, which saw him recording his own distinctive arrangement of songs from Disney films. Featured here is Brian’s sensitive and moving take on Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz’s “Colors Of The Wind,” from Pocahontas.
Then in 2015, Wilson released No Pier Pressure, a strong album with a clear autobiographical streak and some notable collaborations. On this collection is the romantic and melodic “One Kind Of Love,” which was featured on the Music From Love & Mercy soundtrack album that same year.
Beyond all these assorted gems from over the past three decades, Playback: The Brian Wilson Anthology also features two previously unreleased tracks: “Some Sweet Day,” which builds its own classic Wall of Sound, and “Run James Run,” a title some Brian scholars might recall was considered for the song “Pet Sounds,” with its slight James Bond theme song feel. This “Run James Run” was written and produced by Brian and Joe Thomas, and includes wonderful high background vocals from Matt Jardine, Al Jardine’s son and clearly a chip off the old block.
Taken as a whole, this song cycle stands as a welcome reminder that Brian Wilson’s true musical genius endures, offering us a new and altogether welcome reason to listen again and smile. In the end, Playback: The Brian Wilson Anthology is testament to the fact that after all he’s come through and all he’s given us through his lifetime in music, Brian Wilson actually was made for these times.
Love & Mercy Surf’s Up Heroes & Villains Melt Away Let It Shine Some Sweet Day Rio Grande Cry Lay Down Burden The First Time This Isn't Love Soul Searchin' Gettin' In Over My Head The Like In I Love You Midnight’s Another Day Colors Of The Wind One Kind Of Love Run James Run

It's a big deal to me, so raising "the stink" about that kind of thing is totally necessary in my opinion. Buying digital files is a waste of my money (that's just me). I happily plunk down my earned dollars for physical media (CDs and records). It brings me much joy to have something tangible that is mine, oftentimes in better quality than most downloads I could buy for the same or a higher price.
I'll buy this Wild Honey set because they are offering it to me as something I can hold in my hands. If they weren't, no sale and I'd just listen on Spotify - or honestly, find it through other means and burn it to a CD myself.

Went to the Wilkes Barre, PA show last night. Very good overall! Setlist.FM is incorrect. Do It Again was not played, but Salt Lake City was. As others have reported, Brian was definitely more "on" during the first set, although he had some strong moments during Pet Sounds (I'd single out "That's Not Me", "I Know There's An Answer"). His alterations of the lyrics (I'm not even talking about how he sings them - that's another thing entirely) doesn't work though. He must be extremely bored. Also, I think he should introduce Blondie's set and then leave the stage. Having him just sit there for most of it doesn't look so good. For 95% of Blondie's set, he just zoned out. And left the stage without at least waving goodbye to the audience before the band was done playing SOS. Although he did play a little bit of audible keyboard during Wild Honey and sing during the intro. His voice cut right through the stack, pretty cool. It's really good when he's into participating. My takeaway from the night was - I'll go see Brian as long as he's touring. His voice is actually killer when he's trying. I'm just always hoping he can try for the duration of the entire show

They'll be at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside, PA (Philly suburbs) on April 1, 2017. I saw them there in December 2013 and it was a really good show - they played half of the Christmas album. I got an absolute front row seat for this one, so I'm pretty psyched. I'm hoping by the time I see them they are still doing the Pet Sounds set.
(What's the best way of trying to get them to include All I Wanna Do for my show? Post on their FB a few days beforehand?)

I attended the show in Easton on Sunday; if you were there, guitarfool, I would have liked to have met up! This was my first BW solo gig, after attending two C50 gigs previously. The wife, who was less than enthusiastic going into it, was smiling and dancing (when appropriate) the whole time. She was actually rather agitated that so many people just sat completely still in their seats during so many songs. HOW CAN YOU SIT STILL DURING "DANCE DANCE DANCE" !?!?! So yeah, boring crowd. I tried to make up for it by screaming my bloody head off after Wake the World and Add Some Music, which most people clearly didn't recognize and barely received any applause. I have avoided this thread (and setlists generally) in the hopes of surprising myself, and Wake the World and Add Some Music really made my night. The house was dark, the crazy piano chords for "Wake the World" filled the air... so special. SO FLIPPIN SPECIAL. Wait-- holy crap, Darian's "Darlin'" blew my mind, too. He sounded so much like Carl at some points-- and not at others, but Carl is a tough act to follow -- that I kept closing my eyes to pretend. That guy's amazing. "Sail Away" rocked live, I'm glad we got something newer than "Love & Mercy" in the set. First time hearing L&M live. Is Every L&M different? It just seemed so personal, so of-the-moment and so special, that I felt like that was *our* version. Man, I wish Blondie had more to do. But it made the missus and I smile every time he loped onto the stage, whether for guitar and vocals or just some tambourine pyrotechnics. That's what this band needed! Some high energy from a bona fide rock star. Nicky Wonder has some flash, but Blondie! They must limit his appearances in order to prevent him from stealing the show all night long. Al was Al, and I love him all the more for it. Corny, calm, steady. Pleasant. Brian. Brian was either having a great time, or was feeling up to making it seem like he was. Either way, I kick myself for not taking advantage of every opportunity to see him live in the past. He missed cues, yes. His delivery on his Pet Sounds leads was that weird, breathy lounge thing. We cringed a few times, but I already knew what to expect, as did the wife. It made the experience bittersweet, much like the album itself. I was a little sad that Brian wasn't what he was 50 years ago, but since that's a ridiculous thing to expect, I just got over it. In the end, our hearts were filled to bursting. Brian was funny, and made us laugh quite a bit. The "That's Not Me" bit made us lol, and the "Did you come to hear 'Bad' Vibrations? Or did you come to hear 'Silly' Vibrations? How about 'Good' Vibrations?" did, too. He almost skipped over Pet Sounds (instrumental), and after a gentle, sweet reminder from Darian, blamed it on his teleprompter guy. Gold. I didn't take my phone out once, but I wish I had a HD recording of the show and a soundboard boot. I don't want to forget a thing. The band had a few moments where things didn't go quite perfectly, and I heard a few bum notes on a few harmony blocks that weren't Brian or Al. Matt Jardine was the wife's favorite, and I definitely enjoy his falsetto more than Foskett's. JESUS what a band, what a show. I was satisfied, and left wanting more. It actually made me want to catch the M&B Beach Boys the next time they play the local Elks lodge. Cheers! Fantastic review! Due to a scheduling conflict I couldn't make it to Easton this year (I did last year and it was one of the best experiences of my life). My parents went to this show and sometime during the show my father texted me and said "Brian is on fire tonight!" - I'm bummed I missed out on it! I'm really glad that Brian, the band, and the audience had such a great night. Of the 7+ (or something like that?) times I've seen Brian, Easton was definitely one of the best. His vocals were on point and he was interactive with the crowd. Loved it!

On a whim, I bought tickets mid-week to see Brian and co. at the Circus Maximus Theatre in Caesar's Atlantic City. Brian was in very good form. In fact, for the first part of the show, I've never seen him so animated - until about 1/4th of the way through the show when he settled into his usual reserved (but still singing very well) self. Brian stopped the I Get Around/Shut Down medley right in the middle to sing Row, Row, Row Your Boat Show started at 9PM. No intermission. The band played through until 10:50. Setlist Our Prayer Heroes and Villains California Girls - with River Deep, Mountain High into Dance, Dance, Dance I Get Around Row, Row, Row Your Boat thing Shut Down Little Deuce Coupe Little Honda Surfer Girl Don't Worry Baby California Saga: California You're So Good to Me Wild Honey Sail On, Sailor Pet Sounds in full - enjoyed some of the new ways Brian is approaching vocals on this set. Good Vibrations Help Me, Rhonda Barbara Ann Surfin' U.S.A. Fun, Fun, Fun So, no L&M (very surprised), Wake The World, Add Some Music. But even as a shortened set, it was still longer than most full shows by other bands. They all seemed happy to be there. Great show!
