On Mike Deasy's wiki page it states that "While still at high school, he played in bands backing visiting musicians such as Ricky Nelson and The Everly Brothers, and also played in Ritchie Valens' touring band with Bruce Johnston, Larry Knechtel, Sandy Nelson, and Jim Horn.
If this info is reliabie, i can only assume that Larry K was their bassist, as Bruce only mentions being the pianist in interviews...

As a resident of the Netherlands, I'm sure there wasn't ever an English overdubbed version. If I remember correctly, the earlier version on YouTube or whatever replaced the dialogue with BB songs! The version here is what we all saw on TV in 2009. Thanks a lot for linking it!

Let's take another approach, one that should have Macca fans howling for my blood: This is the single-LP tribute version, dedicated to the two Beatles sadly no longer with us, all brought to a stomping conclusion by that most underrated of White Album tracks.
Side One: 1. Revolution 1 2. Dear Prudence 3. Glass Onion 4. The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill 5. I'm So Tired 6. Yer Blues 7. Julia 8. Happiness Is A Warm Gun
Side Two: 1. Sexy Sadie 2. Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey 3. Long Long Long 4. Revolution 9 5. Savoy Truffle

What does everyone feel is their favorite studio version of Surf's Up? There have been many released...
I'd have to pick the un-f*cked-with (or so I think?) 1966 piano demo version from the 1993 Box Set. It just feels the most pure and proper version to me.
Were any recorded portion(s) of the the Leonard Bernstein TV version ever grafted onto one of the future Frankensteined-versions of the song? And how was the Leonard Bernstein TV version recorded? One overhead boom mic for vocals and another mic for the piano?
I'm sure this has been done before, but it's the f*cked-with 1971 album version for me----hands down.

This reminds me of what I did with Tommy:
Side One: 1. Overture 2. Amazing Journey 3. Sparks 4. The Hawker 5. Cousin Kevin 6. The Acid Queen
Side Two: 1. Pinball Wizard 2. Go To The Mirror 3. Tommy Can You Hear Me 4. Smash The Mirror 5. Sensation 6. I'm Free 7. We're Not Gonna Take It
Of course, the CD rerelease has room for a bonus track, the awesome "Underture". :=)

I think we tend to place too much weight on what The Beatles did. The Beatles threw in the towel in '69. No stamina.
I beg to differ but The Beatles did not break up because they had "no stamina." Would you level the same charge at Brian for quitting the road in the mid-60s? Sorry, CSM, I was just being facetious.

Can't keep it to 12 tracks. The Beatles were releasing 13-14 songs on their albums. I think we tend to place too much weight on what The Beatles did. The Beatles threw in the towel in '69. No stamina. What worries me a lot more is that "I'm So Young" has dropped out of the track listing. Why all the hate for this wonderful song?

Thanks, john. Nice to see you're checking bandcamps. Is (t)he(m) on the board or you just found on the Inet?
Not quite sure I understand you, but I'd heard a track by the band Goat (on TV) at Glastonbury this year and decided to investigate further. What i discovered was so compelling that I immediately bought their first album, with the Glastonbury track on it...

Here's my quickly assembled version, for what it's worth (like you, I'm not entirely sure of the order of tracks). I've always thought highly of "GTMB" and "DHMLS"----and "ISY" is one of my all-time favourite BB tracks:
Side A: Dance, Dance, Dance Please Let Me Wonder You're So Good To Me Kiss Me, Baby Salt Lake City She Knows Me Too Well
Side B: Good To My Baby Girl Don't Tell Me Let Him Run Wild I'm So Young Don't Hut My Little Sister And Your Dream Comes True
I shoud add that all four "deleted" tracks would still be around as great singles!!

Does making “egg-in-the-hole” fall under competitive sports?
Brian in '65: "It’s about the only thing I can cook, but it is great. You pinch out the center of a piece of bread, butter it, place it in a frying pan and put a raw egg in the hole. The entire thing cooks together and is very, very tasty."
