Mike & Bruce performed To Sir[e] With Love WITH LULU(!), 2008
Now it's official: The official SMiLE-tanka'drome tour-de-force is absolutely perfect in ALL departments - albeit 'convoluted/enveloped in places. No questions asked!
They didn't perform it in Ullapool, by any chance?! Thank you, Rasmus, for tidying up these loose ends. (Happily, swollen-headedness is not an issue in cyberspace.)

^EX-PAT^?? Myself? Danish all the way, from Copenhagen, currently living in Good (C)old Blighty (Sussex).
Yes, expat (OK, no hyphen). I spent my earliest years in Findon, Sussex (in a haunted house!) and have spent many holidays there since. A lovely part of the world...

Btw, john, where is your signature from? Meanwhile, enjoy pictures, all!
I'm most flattered, RR. Yes, you should definitely consider exhibiting. It would make a refreshing change from the usual yawn-inducing gunk you get at local art shows. My signature? The big chunk of Tony Asher's "GV" used to be Mikie's signature. The bold line above it is a Beach Boys palindrome of my own making, arguably my best. Mind you, I have an excellent tutor, a Mr Skotte from Copenhagen. :=)

It's trolling now to start a jokey thread?
I agree Emily. A little humor on this board is most welcome. This isn't humor. It's pointless. If Brian were deaf in his other ear, he's still have 50% hearing, and nothing would have changed. Bit like asking, what if the sky were blue. It's a joke, Jesus. A parody of those pointless topics, taken to the extreme. Can't speak for anyone else but in my cosmos, jokes are supposed to be funny. In a just world, all "What if...?" topics, even "parodies", would be relegated to a remote corner of this board. A bit like the "Rank the Tracks" topics----only even more remote.

"This Must Be the Place (Naïve Melody)" by Iron and Wine and Ben Bridwell, Sam on lead vocal. I was never much of a Talking Heads fan, and like many tracks on Sing Into My Mouth, had never heard by the original artist. Still obsessed would be a better way to say it. This is one of the songs that helped get me through a very rough patch I've been going through this year. Home is where I want to be, indeed.
Sorry to hear things have been rough, Will. Thank goodness for songs! Since posting this, I've linked SIMM on my other board and it's an absolute gem! I'm a complete sucker for laid-back pedal steel, which helps. I don't think I'm familiar with any of the originals. Thank you. :=) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SQsEPTiOY0

^^Everyone should really appreciate and name-check all the SMiLE-related titles and persons mentioned in john k's ^^ SMiLE TANKA'DROME TRIPTYCH above (though not always Hi-li'ted!). So here comes a key:
AL,CARL, BRIAN "LOOK", "WONDERFUL" & ["Love To Say:] DADA" From Verse 2 (an 'Elements Suite'): FIRE + flame "AIR" Earth (parsnips pots + top) WATER (Fire-VESSEL + DADA, Water & gas + "now, now" from Cool Cool Water ...
Finally: TANDYN (Almer from 'The Associaltion') Toner ("TONES"), SMiLEr, ["Do You Like:] WORMS" & "I ---- RAN" ["Loop de] LOOP" (Al's own SMiLE-like ordeal!) FRED (Vail: the Beach Boys-manager back then) And the great SMiLE-quote: "KEENI WAKA PULA" And don't forget to read the whole thing BACKWARDS, just once ...
Wow. Thank you, Rasmus---- and for your kind words! Perhaps I should add that Tandyn Almer is credited with co-authoring "Sail On, Sailor". And that Blondie and Ricky get an oblique mention as "flame"...

Rasmus, this is what I have right now, with various jk stylistic traits reinstated. You're most welcome to reassemble it à la rs. :=)
1. Al, up----a.k.a... win! Eek! Look slow on wonderful Ullapool decal art. Lunar dadaism row mars L.A. prelims. All racks...
2. ...are not a saga, sire. Tawny DNA, the less ever I flame. Parsnips pot an air by Brian. A top spins. Rap 'em, Al! Fire vessel, eh, Tandyn?
3. Water is a gas, a toner. Ask Carl. L.A. smiler pals ram worms. I, a dad, ran ultra-laced. Loop Al, Lulu. Fred: "Now, now... ol' skool." (Keeni waka pula.)

Wait, now I see: The new elemental verse would have to be the middle verse, Not to interfere with the tankas already completed. I don't know if that's possible ...[Please remember that "I RAN" is also sort of a SMiLE-related title!]
That does complicate matters, but you're quite right----it's the only way. I see your tankas stretch the rules somewhat----I assume it's deliberate? 1) 6-7-6-8-7 2) ----------- 3) 6-7-5-7-8 If so, it gives us a little leeway with that new second verse rhythm-wise. I have some ideas.
