Down here, a big problem is people in cars stopping for a red light, opening their windows, and throwing trash out, instead of keeping it until they get to where they are going and throwing it in the can. I used to blow my horn when they did this but am afraid to anymore - road rage is bad here.
That's awful. While on the subject of driving, I don't know if it's a worldwide phenomenon but where I live it's the rule (rather than the exception) among drivers that everyone knows which way they're going so why indicate? Roundabouts are the worst places. The general behaviour there would be hilarious if it weren't life-threatening. Not indicating should be made a criminal offence. A stiff fine can work wonders.

It's sooo nice to be blissfully ignorant of (and mercifully uninvolved in) the shenanigans which that nice Bill Ed kindly reactivated with his asinine topic. And I intend to stay that way.
This will be deleted soon. Goodness knows I hate negative posts. But it had to be said. ;=)
Now It's part of history, John. History should not be erased. Then we won't learn anything from it. We can't change what happened, we can only move along with a skip, and a beat in our hearts. Music heals. As you pointed out to me elsewhere, Will, Macca echoes your sentiments on this issue. Oh, mine too... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1T_EBeq7mA

This woman is blowing my mind:
I saw her in a record store once. All her albums are really good. I'm a convert to this particular album, thanks to the undercover person you quote. So you've been within close quarters of Angel Olsen... Actually, I came here for quite another reason (and then got sidetracked, lol). Namely to thank bringahorseinhere? for inadvertently pointing me in the direction of Nelson Braggs's beautiful 2007 album Day into Night. This is the closing track, "Lived This Life Too Long": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwLOOoc97H8

Yeah, I'm going to do it at some point....I'm going to have to track down all of the RIP threads and move them there, including Scott's thread. Been dreading that actually.
Scott B? That's another area entirely, surely? I'm not the boss (much to everyone's relief) but I'd be inclined to leave it where it was. Smilin Ed H did a whole bunch of RIPs in his day. After that it was anybody's call... No, Scott Weiland. Yes, of course. Stupid of me. Really sorry about that. I think Bowie's death affected me the most, not least because I'd followed his career since 1966 and even seen him perform. I've never "got" Prince but his death came as an awful shock too. My apologies again.

I took the idea from a wrestling blog I go to, where "Chris Benoit" has been filtered to "Voldemort" since 2007. I didn't get the joke until I actually saw the Harry Potter movies a couple of years ago (yes, I'm late)
You're earlier than me. I don't plan to see them, period. We took a trip on an old steam train in Scotland last year. Apparently it passed through an area where they filmed Harry Potter stuff. At one point there was an announcement: "Soon we will be passing an island that was Dumbledore's last resting place!" Fair play. Fabulous scenery though...

Energy drinks----the ones in cans which you find dropped mere paces away from a rubbish bin. They should call them apathy drinks.
Um, not sure what made you limit it to only that. Anything people threw near the garbage can does count. You talk bizarre. Sometimes I don't get what you say at all, john. But everybody's got quirks. Obviously I disapprove of all rubbish thus deposited. But the name Energy Drinks is ironic, don't you think? I think so anyway.

Seems that if someone doesn't want to talk politics, it would be easy for him or her to ignore the single thread going atm (in the Sandbox, no less) dedicated to it. This! Ye gods. I would have thought that this simple fact was staring everyone in the face...

Wasn't meant to be fake news. It was just a recollection I had from way back. Obviously not Rolling Stone and maybe no where else. I guess I will go with my mind letting me down.
I believe "Eleanor Rigby" had that dubious honour in an NME poll. I read all the UK weekly pop papers in those days and can't remember "GOK" getting any serious flak. Still, this was 50 years ago!

Id be hard pressed to pick a favorite. Freddie Mercury and Bruce Dickinson are high on the list. I like Roger Daltrey and Paul Rodgers alot. John Lennon, John Fogerty, and young Brian Wilson are on the list, as is David Gilmour.
Favorite might be Ronnie James Dio.
Great to see Paul Rodgers mentioned. Free's best work is unbeatable and his voice was so important to that band. Another fantastic UK singer who regrettably has sunk into relative obscurity is Chris Farlowe. I used to own "The Fool" back in the '60s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UspwsWU_iQ8

Getting back to the subject at hand, I mentioned something to Billy in private something that I think might be a good idea to try, or at least consider. I propose that a new board rule be instated, expressely banning any and all political discussion from the board.
I know it's difficult to draw a line between political discussion that belongs in the main section (the Boys and Trump) and political discussion that belongs here (just Trump) but to ban everything everywhere? Surely it's as legit a topic as what are you doing/reading/cooking/eating/etc. There are those here who like discussing it----and most eloquently in some cases. Anyway, I'm not sure anything should be banned en masse. Better to judge each new topic on its own merits, I say. My two eurocents.

Yeah, that guy didn't just cross the line, he took his pants off and teabagged it.
I think a possible problem with intellectual is when it's used in combination with frigid, lol. Who was it who said that? Just came to me----Suzy Creamcheese on Uncle Meat in a bizarre conversation with Frank Zappa: "I was your frigid intellectual housekeeper."
