I think that particular soundtrack is exclusive to Japan and may not be the 'actual' soundtrack we'll get in September. Also, the title of the soundtrack is "Owaranai Merodi" which basically translates to "Endless Melody".
The missing tracks are "End Date", "Headphones", "Knives and Forks", "Deep End", "B&M Studio", "Baby No Morph", and "Into Mercy" The newly titled pieces are "Losing It", "I'm Right Here", and "Intersection".
I would guess that "Knives and Forks" and "Headphones" were cut, since it's just 20 seconds of screaming and tapping.
EDIT: Wait, no "Love & Mercy Owaranai Merodi" is what the film is titled in Japan. I dunno.

Thomas was not that involved with NPP as one would think... I never meant to insinuate that Joe Thomas was involved with NPP -- of course that isn't the case. We all know that "produced by Joe Thomas" wasn't a credit attribution, it was just ¸.•*""*•. ¸magical writing¸.•*""*•. ¸, inscripted for the purpose of summoning autotune, sleazy yacht rock song structures, and adult contemporary arrangements directly from the nether realm. Watch as the MOR disappears once "produced by Joe Thomas" is erased -- now you hear it, now you don't!

I want to read a book about Love You, but only if the author has a wide music scope, and is prepared to invest an intense amount of research, which I don't see too often with people on this board. And recent books about the Beach Boys are rarely interesting or enlightening whenever the subject turns to an analysis of music composition or historical context.

It's true that some people were anxious simply over the fact that it was a "guest singers album" since Gettin' In Over My Head was so bad, but I seriously doubt people would have had the same reaction had Mac DeMarco been on the bill. I hate that dude and even I would have been excited. I wouldn't be surprised if Brian has no idea who Elephant 6 is even though people have been asking him about it for 10 years. I wish his kids had better taste in music.

And look at those negative reactions that hit this board to word last summer that Brian was working with new artists.
It was the artists he was working with that sparked a negative reaction, not that some of them happened to be new. Also the shamelessness of "Yeah, the only reason these 'guest collaborators' are here is to make a quick buck from 10-year-olds, not to create art." Everybody would have lost their sh*t in anticipation if somebody like R. Stevie Moore or Noah Lennox was called in instead of what's-her-name-coincidentally-signed-to-Capitol-Records and what's-his-name-coincidentally-signed-to-Capitol-Records.

There is a less than 1% chance of the Beach Boys being mentioned in any article about the Beatles for the last fifty years. Pet Sounds is barely a footnote in books about Sgt. Pepper. I seriously doubt George was parroting anybody, and I didn't get that impression in his tone.
I have posted this elsewhere but it bears repeating here: Look up any editorial about Pet Sounds, "the critically-acclaimed pop album, inspired by the Beatles' Rubber Soul, which later influenced Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band." Do the same for Sgt. Pepper, "the unprecedented forerunner to art rock and experimental pop music."

Now, this is just my reading of it and nothing else, he says “we were trying to compete with the Beach Boys” almost as if he’s repeating what *others* have said about it.

Again, the fire episode is touched upon in a (poorly written) outtake. In the EPK he's listed as a Stunt Performer.
Yeah, but is it really that Jonathan Paley? Mark Linett and Darian Sahanaja's involvement are not too surprising, but Andy Paley's brother seems out of nowhere, and for a strange credit too.
