Yeah, it definitely sounds double-tracked. Wondering if they just took the single track and doubled it and de-synched or de-tuned it slightly...
BTW...the mono mix on that CD sounds AWESOME.
I also agree. Some of the other remixes also sound different than the previously released ones, though I admit I may be tricked by them being less brickwalled. And yes the mono mixes are incredible!

Ok, on Today are the stereo mixes of When I Grow Up; Dance, Dance, Dance; Please Let Me Wonder; I'm So Young; Kiss Me Baby and She Knows Me the same mixes as those previously available on the US Singles Collection, Hawthorne, Warmth of the Sun and Summer Love Songs?

I haven't heard the mix from 50 Big Ones, but on first listen the stereo mixes of When I Grow Up; Dance, Dance, Dance; Please Let Me Wonder; I'm So Young; Kiss Me Baby and She Knows Me previously available on the US Singles Collection, Hawthorne, Warmth of the Sun and Summer Love Songs sound better to me than the ones on the Today remaster. Is it just me or is the 50 Big Ones mix of 'When I Grow Up (to be a Man)' different (and superior) to the stereo mix found on Today!?

Mark Foster looked as scared as Brian. But the fender guitars and striped shirts were cool and you could tell they put a lot of love and soul into their version. Maroon 5.... not so much. Those two songs are motherf****in hard to sing. At least Foster had some sincerity.
Love looked like the pervert grandfather from down the block.

ok, i copied this order from another thread:
1. Normal first verse although the lead vocal sounds quite laid back ( more than normal
2. Whistle/Dum Dum section
3. My Children were raised accapella with Often wise/piano section
4. Wordless vocal verse
5. In the Cantina
6. How I love my girl (Gee)
7. Dit Dit accapella H&V with handclaps and the one/two note bass line
8. Heroes & Villains accapella - with the clip clop thing
9 False Barnyard with hum dum vocals
So you are saying that 1-5 was a test mixdown and the 6-9 are a compilation of H&V Part 2 bits?
great thanks for all of your help

When was 'you're under arrest!' recorded?
I think at the same time as the Cantina vocals. Best of my knowledge it was for the 2004 BW SMiLE tour, so arranged 2003.
That is what I thought also. There is a jan/feb '67 version that has it placed after the cantina section. If you are referring to the TSS bonus track, I actually thought that was a compilation of (rough/early) mono mixes from that time, and not one edit. So it is an edit of a mono mix of the verse and other sections, one of the cantina, a rough edit of HAV part 2 sections, and one of the fade. I don't think the order of those mixes is vintage. The order of the various part 2 sections is vintage, I believe. I'm referring to track 24 on Disc 4 - Heroes and Villains: Early Version Outtakes. Thanks for the clarification.

GID sounds to me like a missing Pet Sounds track.
I agree. It's produced exactly the same as the Pet Sound tracks and could have easily fitted into the album. It's an under-rated piece of music. It refelects Brian's creativity at the time... he was prepared to give this track away because he could write this stuff so easily. Sounds more like Today! era to me. But, yes, it is indeed great. The recording session date is closer to the Today! sessions than Pet Sounds sessions correct?

Please guys be nice.... this artist inspired Straight Outta Compton
Inspired??... did you know that she actually plays on it? She was tight with the late Easy E - They were out together one night and they came up with F**K Tha Police Until they had a falling out and Ice Cube wrote 'A Bitch Iz a Bitch'

Slightly OT but I feel it's worth a mention - after being forced to rush out two early lps, song for song The Kinks 60's records are as strong as any other group from this era (and all originals too). Add to that the many non album A- sides, B- sides and EP's of exceptional quality that they stuck out during this period and you have one criminally underrated band.
well allmusic awarded 5 stars to the following; face to face, something else, village green. Maybe I should check out their discography. You absolutely should, if you haven't already - the Kinks were incredible and those are three of their best! Yeah I would agree. Just a shame that the production values of the Kinks stuff was always lacking compared to the Beach Boys and Beatles. Think it may have had something to do with Pye
