Here's a subject that I don't think has been discussed yet... What photo do you all think will be on the back of the LP jacket? The standard picture of the Brian-less group (in better quality, obviously) from the mock-up back cover? Something different? I've always thought it was rather odd that they were using a group photo that didn't include the undisputed leader of the group and architect of the album. I always suspected it might have been a mistake on the part of someone at Capitol who didn't know who was who in the group.
Brian wasn't in the pic because he wasn't on tour. Brian's absence from the touring group didn't keep him off the front and back covers of Pet Sounds and Summer Days. I just think that it's a weird choice. I'm sure that Capitol easily could have found a photo from a different shoot that did include him. The member of the group most responsible for the album doesn't make the back cover photo? And Bruce does? Maybe Brian wanted it that way ? Maybe he didn't mind? Maybe he wanted to give the others their due from touring all the time and spreading the music to audiences worldwide.

AGD, just to help you; there are numbered buttons in the upper left hand corner of the screen where you can go back and 'read' prior posts. As Sam pointed out, you maybe are not reading them clearly.
To quote my earlier post (I've said this like three times), "This official 'GV' Promo video was patched together because Capitol Records needed a promo video fast and this was the footage they had available. That's my hypothesis and I'm sticking to it."
Yeah, I know. This may amaze you, but I can read, and used a message board. But these were the questions you sidestepped: Consider this - if Capitol were hurting for a "GV" promo, wouldn't they have used some stock footage (as was done for "H&V" ?) as opposed to assembling some seriously odd stuff ? (In other words, if it was odd for Brian to use that as a "GV" promo, it's odd cubed that Capitol would do so: your logic has to apply to both cases - can't pick and choose) Further, if Brian had it shot expressly for the Fire Music, why compromise that by letting it be used for a totally different song ? PS: a little civility would help your cause considerably. Plus, sarcasm doesn't work with me. You'll need to to much better than that. Didn't Brian have his acid trip where he thought he was on fire way before he wrote "Fire"? Maybe he had his trip, had a fire hat fixation for while and "fire" is the end product of months of fire hat mania due to his trip. So the video just documented them at a fire station as part of the fire interest. The only source for that trip is the discredited 'autobiography'. No-one I know places and credence at all in said report. Dang it, referenced that fine piece of literature without realising it.

Well, what can I say. My second time seeing Brian and a truly amazing experience. The capacity crowd were in awe of Brian, God Only Knows received an extended standing ovation of about 4 minutes, people just screaming, showing love for Brian. The set list which I can't remember by heart was perfect . Gershwin set first half which went over great then the hits/lesser known cuts. "Little Girl", "Pet Sounds" (which sounded great), "Please Let Me Wonder", "H&V". Great crowd but prior to the encore not big into standing up apart from a few of us. I was actually told to sit down at one stage because I wouldn't sit after "Do You Wanna Dance" where Scott had the whole crowd stand up, "Do it again" is just so funky Brian was very funny, he had the whole crowd sing "Mary had a little lamb" which cracked me up. He seemed tired at times but he gave it his all. All and all great show, roll on Manchester. Here's some vids I took, excuse my singing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QibWOfy8Tlchttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u98183sU9icAwesome show, don't worry I was singing at my BW concert as well.

Like I said, what little problem there is is with our LSD munching chum. Don't worry about it, mate He's been really irritating me today, actually. Damn trolls. Same here, you should have seen the creepy posts he made where he changed the surfer girl lyrics to include nazi references. So creepy in fact that the whole thread was deleted and my post yelling at him is lost forever.

I have been hooked on live recordings of the band with Brian on bass or just general live recordings. It would be sweet next year or in the future as another anniversary gift, the group releases the 1964 Sacramento tapes or Michigan 1966 with possible bonus tracks (chicago 1965) or even a live box of existing live stuff in the vaults (what'd I say) or 1970s material.
I'd be all for it. But Michigan '66 doesn't feature Brian on bass (maybe one track - Johnny b. good) I wish he was because the live shows went down in quality for a while when he retired from the road. The 1964 shows rock me out of my seat when I listen to them, Brian sounds like he had fun performing as well when he overcame his stage fright. I agree totally. I mentioned this quite a bit. As long as they were playing with Brian, they really rocked the sh!t out of the songs. Even the slow ones. But when he quit, it all went down. Even Dennis. The best example is "I get around". Compare a '64 version with a version from '66 or '67. You can be sure that the latter one sucks. They started to sound better in '68. I don't know if it was Brian but obviously something went missing when he left the touring group. It would be great if we had some Glenn Campbell live recordings with the group to see how it sounded then, because he certainly was a much better bassist then Bruce. I remember an old video interview where glen said his voice got stronger doing Brian's high part and sang a little like he did when he toured with them. He sounded awesome and I am trying to find that video again.

if brian took cocaine again i bet he'd sound like he did on The Little Girl I Once Knew, manic and ecstatic alien with adhd
er, no, I bet he would have a friggin' heart attack and friggin' die because he's a 69 year old man who spent nigh on 30 years abusing his body. The hell is wrong with you people. Agree with you 100%, Brian doesn't need that horrible drug anymore because he was a total wreck when on hard drugs.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: New Mike Love interview

You left out part of the interview in your manic attempt to paint Mike as an butthole. He mentioned the song writing credits because he mentioned the lawsuit. I left out a whole lot about Mike. Mike has already been painted as a butthole many times over from different directions. One more opinion is not going to make any difference here. I don't hate Mike by any means. He's got to be congratulated on 50 years of spreading the word of Brian. Any negative feelings that people have for him is his own fault. A good example of this is the R & R Hall of Fame speech. The interviewer asked Brian, "How is your relationship with Brian?" And Mike immediately refers to the past and his lawsuit about the song credits. That was what, way back in 1992 - 19 years ago! What's that got to do with his relationship with Brian now? He could have said he talked/saw Brian recently and they had dinner or recorded together or maybe talked reunion - why dredge up negative stuff from the past? He didn't mention the lawsuit back in '05 where the court threw out his lawsuit against Brian and the Daily Mail. But why did Mike even go there? Again? Is that the first thing that came to his mind? He still wants to be recognized for the lyrics he wrote to the songs. He still mentions the lyrics he wrote for songs during Beach Boys concerts! From a recent interview: How do you react to the continued attention paid to "Smile"? ML: What's left of "Smile" is a shell. It would have been a great record but he [Brian] just didn't have the will or the ability to finish it. See, a lot of the Brian bullsh*t rests around that album and it's nothing, it's just fragments. Who wants to hear about Brian's mental problems anyway? Sweet Insanity. A whole album of Brian's madness that no one wants to release and still everyone says he's a genius! I make "Kokomo", it goes to number one in the charts and I'm still the dumb, know-nothing, talentless Mike Love. NOW you know why Mike side-stepped the question concerning SMiLE. It still fries him to talk about it. A guy from this board e-mailed me today. He has an interview with Mike Love in a couple of days and asked me what I would like to ask Mike. Any ideas from the board members here that I can pass on? He should just listen to the box without his bias and see how the SMiLE box contains beautiful material that is not just "snipits" I don't even think he has listened to BWPS. Comparing SMiLE to Sweet Insanity is just is nasty and uncalled for. Mike just can't seem to let grudges go, hell he probably would still yell at Tony Asher or Van Dyke Parks for taking his lyricist role all those years ago. Mike shouldn't even use Kokomo as an example of a hit song without Brian, the song was written mostly by Papa John Phillips.
