No one's mentioned "When Girls Get Together"!? That track is beautiful, the vocal is beautiful, but the lyrics are oh dear god.

By the way, next month, there's going to be a reissue of "Sounds of Summer" with an added T-shirt. Is that the "commemorative" product Capitol spoke of? What a letdown. But as I have said, if the archival products that many hoped for(or even the 50-song hits compilation that Mr.Doe hinted at) don't materialize, I won't be broken hearted. At least we did get "Smile".

I actually really like how the quilted computer graphics of the original cover match the homespun electronic synthesizer sounds inside.

And I guess I'm a fan of the title too, though I wish it had been "Brian Loves You", if only because he sounds so adorable when he mentions how he wants to name the album that in the interview.

Ugh, I'm getting so tired of scouring the net for a sneak peak at the new remasters that I might just have to wait 'til they get released here. So frustrating to read everyone else talking about them!

Any details on the September 18th Grammy Museum show? After seeing how the Cal Saga GM show was, I'd love to make this one.

Yeah, I check online everyday. I wonder if it sold out with advance sales to Grammy Museum members, I remember them mentioning that that happens at the CalSaga gig.

I'm a PS Box original speed man myself. Feels so much more natural, and I tend to bristle at anything with an overt Murray influence (it was Murray's idea to speed it up on the album).

I wonder if the mixes for 50 Big Ones will be taken primarily from the new stereo mixes, and if so, it will be interesting to see if we get stereo mixes (Digital Extractions or otherwise) of "Surfin' Safari", "The Little Girl I Once Knew", "Wild Honey", "Darlin'", "Friends" (I know it was released in stereo, but I could still imagine them trying to do a cleaner mix), and "Do It Again".

Not a youtube, but I found this drumless version of California Girls the other day. Sounds so Wild Honey it made my head spin. Guessing its homemade, but I don't know.

I think it would be worth it for Capitol USA to release at least some of these. Yeah, not that many people are going to go out and buy a copy of Surfer Girl for the sake of hearing it in mono, but stereo mixes of Today! & Smiley Smile would probably warrant coverage in all major publications and would most likely come with a major reassessment (think Best New Reissue on Pitchfork and such) leading to an expanded consumer base. And that would really prime everyone for the Wild Honey Friends remixes that we're all praying are in the pipeline.
