They mastered a version of "Child" from an acetate
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Peter, for passing along this tidbit. What am I saying... tidbit? BLOCKBUSTER news. This just keeps getting better and better. Man, oh man, oh man. Forgive my ignorance but what does it mean that a version of Child was mastered from an acetate? I mean, i know what it means, but what exactly does that imply? Original Brian mix? Missing vocals? Something else? It implies that just because it doesnt say Child (from acetate), doesn't mean its not from an acetate.

So if you buy the box set, you would have everything that is included on the other instances of the release, correct?
It would appear that way, at least from a musical standpoint. I'm not so sure -- I went through the box's track list (a couple of pages back) to highlight which tracks were going to be on disc two of the 2-CD set, and there were a few tracks that I couldn't find exact equivalents for on the box: 2. Heroes and Villains (Part 1) 3:08 7. Cabin Essence (10/3/66) 5:19 13. Good Vibrations Session Highlights 8:20 "Cabin Esseence" for example, has three tracks dedicated to it on the box, divided into "Verse," "Chorus" and "Tag" sections. The single "Cabin Essence" track on disc two of the 2-CD set COULD be just a combination of these tracks, or could be something else. Same situation with "Good Vibes." "Heroes And Villains (Part 1)" COULD be the cantina version we've had for years, but I'm not sure, and there's no "master take" of "Part 1" listed in the box's disc two. We'll be able to guess better when we have track lengths for the box tracks. H&V pt1 may not be represented on the CDs, but we'll at least get it on the single if anything

Again, let me reiterate ,as this seems important.
THE LP'S HAVE BANDING
No movements then?
Thanks apples. Please let this be so!!! Looking at the LP's, both appear to be identical. Also there appears to be a long track starting the LP, followed by a shorter track. I think it has to begin with Prayer, movements or not. So.... I think these are dummy LP's just for the photo. most certainly. Also, I don't think banding would necessarily rule out the "movements" theory, seeing as my copy Pink Floyd's DSOTM has banding and still has seamless track changes.

All of my original BB vinyl was left to me from my dad. An original (and very, very used) Pet Sounds, Wild Honey, Friends, Sunflower, the Endless Summer and Spirit of America comps, and the GoodVibes/LGAFAW 45(also very, very used). Managed to grab copies of Little Deuce Coupe and Smiley Smile in some local stores as well. I'm lacking mostly in the older ones, which i intend to fix ASAP

Does Wonderful end abruptly as it does on the 93 box, with the bass doing it's 'in between verses' thing, and then just ending, or does it fade?
Yes, the ending to "Wonderful" is virtually -- if not completely -- identical. I listened to that specifically, because a lot of times you can tell from the fade if a song's been remixed or not. That's why I asked. Thanks! I am hearing a couple of extra bass notes at the end on MOJO can someone PLEASE PM me. I'm dying to hear this, can't wait till it hits the states. Thank you

http://smilefiletemp.tripod.com/S5odds.htm Session singer Stan Farber, indicated that Brian had a long version of Heroes And Villains completed, but subsequently scrapped it when a visitor did not like the track. This also holds credibility given the numerous new instrumental tracks recorded during SMILE's creation. "Ron Hicklin and I walked into Brian's house and off the front entry was this beautiful wood panelled library that he had turned into a recording studio and they had ducting pipes all over the place that ruined the damn thing. Brian had a little studio in there and although I can't remember the song we did, we did something there. Anyway, the story about Heroes And Villains that was told to me by engineer Chuck Britz...We were doing something there and he played us Heroes And Villains. He had just finished mixing and I said, "Well that's good, but it's not as good as Good Vibrations." Well, Chuck turned to me and said, "You should have heard it three months ago." And I said, "What do you mean?" And he replied, "Well Brian worked on this for six months as the follow-up to Good Vibrations and it was a masterpiece. You would not have believed it! It was a six months project. Then some guy came in off the street; he was a friend of someone else who was hanging out and Brian turned to him and played him Heroes And Villains and then asked him what he thought of it. This guy basically said he didn't like it and so Brian wiped the tape! He erased it" The guy was just some stranger off the street. Brian erased it all and then started over from scratch! Chuck said that the version he had just mixed that day was okay, but it was nothing like it was."
As far as unheard mixes of H&V, i'm looking for something along the lines of this.
