I’m going to patent a new idea. Mini gigs from home by artists who can’t get out and perform.
‘The Corona Concert Series’
Seriously though, most artist started out small as in garage bands, school groups etc. The ‘business’ made the shows bigger than Ben Hur. What’s better than them getting back to basics?
Some artists are doing similar stuff (ex. An artist i like called Clairo is going to make an art performance with another musician this Sunday). She also gave a mini performance yesterday on Instagram and some bands are preparing and creating some live shows on their social networks

I'm also starting to wonder if there could be another major box set for the 60th anniversary.
1980/83= The Capitol Years 6 LPs / 4 CDs (20th anniversary) 1993 = Good Vibrations: Thirty Years of the Beach Boys (30th anniversary) Nothing in particular around the 40th anniversary, then 2011 = Smile Sessions + 2013 = Made In California (50th anniversary) 2020 = Feel Flows
Is there potential for another "career spanning" box set sometime between 2021-2023?
Yep - the much needed live retrospective. Good call. I remember dreaming that they would do this for their 33 1/3 rd anniversary, with 33 1/3rd tracks, - for some reason I felt the Oxnard remote recording of Mr Moto was a good fit for the 1/3rd!! Seriously though, this would be so good. The live tracks coming out during this copyright extension era have been an absolute revelation. Only wishing the recording of Rock and Roll Woman was released (proper release, not the version from Amercan Band video). the version of Rock 'N' Roll Woman was a cutted/edited version, right? i feel that it's so short (last about minute and half)

Paula Abdul was of course dating John Stamos around that time. She also appears, dancing with Stamos, in the Beach Boys' Crocodile Rock clip.
She definitely sang on the re-recorded Sweet Insanity track Spirit of Rock n Roll - the version with Bob Dylan vocals.
Fascinating. I had no idea that Paula Abdul had any connection to John Stamos or to this band. Pretty shocking that Brian squandered two cameos of that magnitude on a song version that never even came out, Bob Dylan and Paula Abdul who was nearly the equivalent of getting Madonna on a song at that point I would tend to think. I feel like those must be two of the biggest vocal cameos that have ever appeared on any song or solo project by this band, other than perhaps Paul McCartney and Elton John, who had their BW songs released. Well, fingers crossed for an official Copyright Extension release in 2041! Just discovered a better quality upload of the Crocodile Rock video too - https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QE8u7qCWohM HAHAHAHAHA, I will be a 43 year old guy, so, that's okay for me, i hope that they make another anthology album for Brian Wilson with a lot of sweet gems Try watching that video on mute. It's perhaps an even more strange and unsettling experience than having the sound on yeah hahahaha, it's an odd video

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The Beach Boys In London Film

I was reading some of the LLVS articles and I found something that interested me. In a few articles it said that The Beach Boys are planning on releasing a 24 minute film of their London tour in 1966. What happened to this film? Is it the same one that was released as a silent film on DVD a few years ago? Or is this one completely different and have sound? Can anyone shed any light?
Some stills/frames of the film are, err, odd and so perv (the camera focuses on the skirts of the girls accompanying the Boys)

i feel that the whole Feel Flows box set it's going to be a major thing spanning from 1969-1971-ish, well, who knows, the lack of news only makes us create a lot of suppositions

I don't remember where I heard it, but I believe the female on Doing Time On Planet Earth is Paula Abdul. The version I have of this song sounds like it was taken from a 7th generation cassette, so it is hard to tell, but I am pretty sure I read that it was her.
No idea on Too Much Sugar, I assume they are some studio background singers that sang on various recording sessions as session vocalists.
I heard she sang on "Make A Wish" from Sweet Insanity. oh, really? That sounds cool! Hey C-Man, do you have any idea of who are the female singers in the aforementioned tracks?

Well, if you listen to some tunes by BW from the mid-80's you can hear female vocalists (or just a vocalist?) in some tunes. The tunes in question are Doing Time on Planet Earth (early Being With the One You Love) and in Too Much Sugar, the vocalist in Doing Time on Planet Earth seems to be singing in a kind of duet with Brian, so, yeah, my doubt/question is if anyone know who is her?

I've replaced the link in the OP which has been dead for several weeks.
Apologies if you saw this during that time and weren't able to download it. In the future, don't hesitate to send me a PM if you want a link.
I'll give it a listen tomorrow, looks so promising

The Manson angle has, obviously, always been a touchy subject with most of the band members. How much of that is due to bad feelings and uneasiness versus simply being a PR issue, that’s up for debate I suppose. The farther away from Dennis the member/associate was/is, the more likely they seem to be more bemused about the whole debacle rather than alarmed or concerned. I sense Dennis was far more uneasy even broaching the subject than, say, Bruce, for instance.
Other than Mike weirdly using it as an “edgy” angle to sell his autobiography a few years ago, the band members have rarely volunteered to talk about Manson in any detail.
Which highlights the fact that the band has been pretty lucky over the years that they haven’t more often been asked about it, and that that particular angle to their story has not been more regularly highlighted in pieces on the band that cover their history.
Some of this was due to periods when nobody cared enough to interview them much or ask them about anything (e.g. some parts of the late 70s into the 80s). Their low ebb of fame and attention occasionaly benefitted them in that there was little scrutiny. Various brushes with the law in the 70s, or the band playing Sun City in 1981/82, went largely unnoticed.
There was one old TV news piece/interview that was up on YouTube *years* ago but has been gone for ages, where Brian and Al are being interviewed sitting next to each other, during the MIU-ish era in 1978, and the interviewer brings up Manson to Brian, and Al uncharacteristically gets super agitated and offended and blocks the interviewer from asking Brian about it. Al seemed to be genuinely concerned that discussing it would upset Brian.
Damn, i need to see that interview!

Honeycomb was first kicking around when the Spring album came out, iirc. I think Brian talked about it in an interview with Richard Williams in Melody Maker (or was it New Musical Express?) at that time. Around that time, there was also mention that Spring was hoping to have Jackie DeShannon produce their next project.
Brian and Mike also sang a short snippet of it during an interview while on tour in 2012 iirc. It seemed that both of them really like that song. yeah, the interview is on YouTube, Brian starts to sing the song as part of a planned new tune/cover he had in mind, he also performed the song live in 2015 as an intro to I'm Broke
