476  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Fav James Bond Theme on: January 09, 2006, 09:46:26 PM
You Only Live Twice.  The best.  All the music in that film is awesome.  Totally done in 66/67

Nobody Does It Better by Carly Simon  What a great song.

Sheryl Crow's theme was very good too.

Madonna's was by far the worst.  Bond theme's should be sexy, not something you'd hear in an aerobics class.
477  Smiley Smile Stuff / 1960's Beach Boys Albums / Re: Friends on: January 09, 2006, 09:34:23 PM
Friends is a favorite of mine, but add on Time to Get Alone, Were Together Again, and I Went to Sleep and it's a 5 star album.  Considering those would have perfectly fit in with the other slow waltzs and they were written and probably recorded the same time as the other tracks.
478  Smiley Smile Stuff / 21st Century Beach Boys Albums / Re: The Beach Boys Classics Selected By Brian Wilson on: January 09, 2006, 09:30:49 PM
A perfect intro for anyone first getting into BW and the BB's.  Around 3 years ago, when I wanted to get into them, there was no single disc album that combined the good hits and the true artistry of the band.  There are mostly just surfin discs or the individual albums.  This album is necessary for all newbies to all things Brian Wilson.

Except they should have used the Smile version of Wonderful more than the Smiley version.  Same goes for Surf's Up.  Any disc with Busy Doin' Nothing is awesome BTW.

haha.  Yes, casio keyboard drums. Everything else is organic, even the harpsichord on "Hiroshige's Japan".   There is a lot of EQ on those drums, but I think they sound pretty good in context of the songs.  I would love a drum set, but unfortunately, they won't fit in a dorm room.

Thanks for the feedback guys.  "Cliched Phrases" was an older song, that I redid some parts over.  I'm not too happy about it, but I'll probably re-record it sometime.
