I find 'an unavoidable situation in the studio' rather funny sounding. What could that be? Having to put a wig on, perhaps sunglasses and a fireman's hat, and pretending that you're 25 again? Perhaps 'situation' points indeed to some scene shooting... something that is very time- and place-bound, really related to the SS Box ahead.
Well, we'll see...
On Brian's website it reads Dear friends, Sadly, it looks like we will be having to postpone the Scandinavian dates on our September tour. I have a commitment in the studio back in Los Angeles so we will have to be heading home after Brussels. I promise to get back to play Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo as soon as I can. I love that part of the world and the wonderful people who come to our shows. We will keep you posted on new dates. In the meantime, back to my first love the STUDIO!! Love and Mercy, Brian

I found the note, posted on Brian's FB page in September 2010. No idea where part 2 is, or why she's been gone longer than the note implies... Brian Wilson Taylor Mills sends this note to Brian's fans (Part 1 of 2): I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be taking a little time off for personal reasons. Unfortunately, this means I won't be going on tour to Australia in a few weeks with Brian and the band. Don't worry, I will be back with the band very soon! I'm not in the know, but when Jim & Bob departed, they were swiftly replaced, as was Todd and Mikey (who is the only one to return). She's been performing live with other artists. I have my doubts. Probyn told me she will be back this past weekend. She's taking time off and since she didnt sing on the Gershwin record it was cool for her to miss this tour apparently She sang vocals on nearly every song of the Gershwin album.

I thought it was Mike getting fed up with Carl getting fed up with it...
They could have all been getting fed up with it. But Mike is the one who told Brian that they'd wasted enough time and money and they weren't going to be singing Ol' Man River anymore. or at least that's what was in the Carlin bio.

It said on his Wiki that he worked with Brian Wilson. When did that happen? Regardless, he did a lot of work in the 70's with Linda Rondstat and many others. I guess besides "Lonely Boy" he will be most remembered for "Thank You For Being A Friend" which became the theme song for the Golden Girls TV show.

I doubt that 'Magical Mystery Tour' would have helped leave Brian behind in the dust.
Despite the fact that "Magical Mystery Tour" is (technically speaking) a compilation, it had lots of innovative sounds. Groups like Electric Light Orchestra wouldn't have been possible without the influence of "Magical Mystery Tour". Jeff Lynne & Roy Wood admit that that they were heavily influenced by "I Am The Walrus". There's nothing on "Smile" that would have been influential on other artists, and the nature of Smile's songs would have made them (for several reasons) unsuitable or too inaccessable to be covered by other artists. You don't think songs like Heroes And Villians had any influence at all on the ELO sound?
