"I think maybe it's more of a backlash against classic artists doing cover albums of oldies (Hello Rod Stewart)"
If that is the case, then why was Rod Stewart nominated this year for doing that very same thing?
Fly Me To The Moon...The Great American Songbook Vol V....Rod Stewart
My bad LOL, didn't read the whole list. There goes that theory :-( Guess they didn't like the album then. I suppose not. Maybe they weren't too keen on "Brianized' Gershwin. Or he just got overlooked. Regardless, I think it's a shame but not too suprising I guess, given their track record.

Been a fan since June of 64. All I can say is some things never change. Hey, at least Brian and the Boys have us diehards hangin in for almost half a century I agree with that and with the sentiments expressed about the Grammy Awards in general. Still... I can't help feeling somewhat disappointed. It would have been nice to see Brian get some recognition for his fine work on BWRG. After 50 years in the biz he has just one honorary Grammy (for being a member of the Beach Boys) and one for best instrumental (Fire) to show for it.

I gave up hope on modern music years ago. With the exception of the odd BB's related release (and some of those are purchased simply because I'm a completist) I don't own any modern music. I think the most contemporary album I own is from 1992!
Nothing in 18 years has struck your fancy enough to buy? That's a long time. My daughter's entire lifetime.

I believe that the nominations for the Grammy Awards will be announced today. While I would like to believe that BWRG will be nominated for any of the major categories, in reality I don't see this happening. However, there are a few other possible categories BWRG could be nominated for. Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Instrumental Performance (Plenty Of Nuttin') and possibly Best Jazz Vocal Album being the most likely. Your thoughts on this, if any, are appreciated.

Anybody else have an opinion on my alternate 15 BO? I think you made some good choices Billy. I think they should have stuck to the original plan of an all oldies album with maybe It's OK as a closer and then an album of new material. My "new" album: River Song, Good Timin', That Same Song (w/gospel choir) Had To Phone Ya, Back Home, Everyone's In Love With You, Susie Cincinnati, Shortenin' Bread, Pacific Ocean Blues, Goodtime, San Miguel, Angel Come Home, California Feelin'
