I'll Second "the other Anonymous"!
Ricky Fataar. His drumming did to the Beach Boys what Chester Thompson did for Genesis, kicked it in the ass and gave the band an aggressive edge.
And then of course Bruce, for singing "At My Window".

Peter,
Thank you for that extremely concise encapsulation of the BWPS story. That's the closest to making the most sense of anything I've seen written.Excellent piece of  work Peter.

Anybody know how Steve is doing? I know he was quite ill the last couple of month's.
But do any of you have an update as to his recovery?
His insights on this board are Invaluable!

Carl Wilson!
Especially Live in "73.As I've posted elsewhere here, nothing tops him doing "Let The Wind Blow" and "Sloop John B." Live.In fact,Carl steals the In Concert '73 album."I Can Hear Music" is another Fav.As well as ALL his singing on "Sunflower" & "Surf's Up" and "Holland".
We "lost" a true GREAT when he passed on.

"Death On Two Legs" might just be one of the most Ferocious songs Queen ever wrote.
And "Prophet Song" just kills me with the Delay Echoes in the middle.

It's what The Musical Box studied to get Gabriel's stage visuals down.
I too Love 70's keyboards.Especially the ARP Pro-solist,Hammond T-102? and B-3 organs,Mellotron(of course) and from '76 on when Rutherford used the MOOG Taurus Bass Pedals.Nothing in this world like the sound of those Bass pedals.
Have you ever heard RUSH using them on "Xanadu" and "Jacobs Ladder"?
Killer Matt.

Matt,
I know what ya mean, the first time I saw the Musical Box about 3 years ago doing the SEBTP set, when they opened up with "Watcher" I said,"What the Foda"!! Seeing the Gabriel look-alike dressed in the Cape and Batwings sent a chill right up my spine.I have the Bootleg video of Genesis from 1973 that has been around for years. So I knew what to expect.I've seen SEBTP show Twice and "the Lamb" show Twice also.
What did you think of the Bass pedals during "Firth of Fifth"? The whole foundation of the venues I've seen TMB at shook with the vibration from the bass pedals.Awesome display of Genesis power!!

Matt-Zeus,
I'm a HUGE Gabriel Era Genesis fan!  Have you seen the Genesis Tribute band "The Musical Box"?
You'd swear you were watching the real thing. In fact,Genesis endorse "The Musical Box" as THE genesis cover band.
I'm also a fan of Collin's era from Trick of the Tail to Duke. After that...forget it.
Anybody out there "Supper's Ready","Watcher of the Skies" and "Musical Box" fans???
I'm there IF they have a reunion.
BTW,are you a Steve Hackett solo stuff fan?

Absolutely "old guys" should still play out!
I play in the Philly based cover band "Acoustically Challenged".We play 3 weekends a month at 7 different club/bars
and I'll tell ya what.....from what people have told me we wipe out 95% of the bands in our area!
Our drummer is 50;our Bass player and rhythm guitarist/singer are both 45.And I'm a young 43.Being an onstage muscian IS a drug.Age should never have anything to do with following your Passion. And YES...it does keep you young playing every weekend, meeting tons of women, free drinks, and getting paid to play your instrument!! Not bad for "old men".Well, not that old.  LOL

"So hoist up the John B. sail
See how the mail sail sets
Call for the Captain ashore let me go home."
Can't ya just hear Brian & Al singing that harmony!!
I'd love to hear them both do Sloop John B.

I agree that Clay was the best singer out of A.I.
Now,last night was actually pretty good!
Paris blew me away with her very competent "Billie Holliday" style of singing. As one of you posted previously, she will have No problem getting signed and having a career in music. She's that good.
My favorite "future Playboy centerfold" Kellie Pickler BLEW IT last night......soon to be gone.
Chris Daughtry and Kathryn McPhee did a fine job.
R.I.P Pickler...you're goin' home tonite,or at least to the Playboy Mansion.

If you listen to the bass in "Catch A Wave" it's a pure Punk riff. What a cool idea if there was a  Tribute CD of beach Boy songs made Punk!!!

All in all,Kellie Pickler definetly has a future in Playboy or Penthouse.
She's SO naive that Mr. Hefner should have Nooooooooooo problem selling her on a spread!!

It's a "No-Brainer" as to why Queen was on AI.....they're in the middle of a U.S Tour and AI is tons of exposure!! Not that Queen needs any. LOL
I thought Kellie Pickler did a pretty decent job with "Bohemian Rhapsody".And Chris surprised me with doing "Innuendo".That's a great song from a great LP.
Taylor did not do a good job on "Crazy Little Thing"...in fact,he screwed up the lyrics royally.
