Smiley Smile Stuff / Ask The Honored Guests / Re: The Mark Linett Thread

Hello Mark,
I have a really quick question to ask you, I noticed that on MIC that Fun,Fun,Fun and Warmth of the Sun are better Stereo Mixes than what we had from the 1963 and 1964 Chuck Britz Mixes, Stereo Backing Track for Fun,Fun,Fun and Stereo Background Vocals for Warmth of The Sun. When did you and Alan come into possession of the original Multi-Tracks for these songs and how, because they have been missing for years.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Lost Double Tracking

I know this was kind of discussed before a little bit but, I'm still curious on how did the 2012 remasters of You Still Believe In Me and She Knows Me Too Well have the Double Tracked Vocals? Was this an Isolation or did Mark Linett discover the missing tapes?
Thanks.

Wait a second drbeachboy, You're saying that I Get Around, Rhonda and Good Vibrations aren't Extractions? How come it says they are in the booklets of the new Mono/Stereo Remasters then? That new Stereo Mix of Our Prayer has to be an extraction as well too, because it was recorded around only one microphone. We shall find out at the end of August it will be a mystery until then!

-Billy Strange's and Carl's 12 Strings on the Single Version of Help Me, Rhonda. In the new Stereo Mix from 2012 you can hear both, amazing! thanks Derry! -Carl's 12 String Acoustic Guitar on the cover of Then I Kissed Her, the closest the Beach Boys came to country before Cotton Fields. -Red Rhode's Pedal Steel Guitar on the Single Version of Cotton Fields. -Hal Blaine's Orange Juice Container Percussion on God Only Knows. -Brian's Organ playing on Gettin' Hungry. Who could forget Paul Tanner all over the Good Vibrations Sessions, with his Electro Theremin! -Carl and Glen on the intro of Dance, Dance, Dance with their 12 string Guitars!

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Good Vibrations Guitar on Released Version

Maybe some one can clear this up either Craig or Andrew. On the released version of Good Vibrations i know that there's a Fender Bass Guitar on the Verses and a Fuzz Bass Guitar on at the end but, does the song contain any other guitar? I just wanted to know because it's been bugging me. I don't have the Smile Sessions Box Set either, so I can't look up who played what. Thanks

I love this instrumental to death, but who plays what? I mean I can hear Brian on Piano, Al on Rhythm Guitar, Carl on Guitar, Dennis on Drums and Hal Blaine on Drums. Is there anyone else on there? Also what is that strange instrument added later. Is it a Harmonium or an Accordion? Thanks

Actually, Vegetables and Heroes and Villians were remixed in Stereo for the Hawthorne Legacy Set. As for Good Vibrations, the 8-Track Tape for the vocals is lost. The vocals weren't done during the Final Mono Mixdown. If you listen to The Carl Wilson Coda on Disc 2 of the Hawthorne set, you can hear a little snippet of the only available real Stereo Vocals. The "Ahhhh" part. It's kind of like a teaser, leaving you more of a feeling of how it would sound in Stereo. The Instrumental Sessions exist, but that's it unfortunately.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Photo on Brian Wilson's Website

There's a picture on Brian Wilson's Website, of him autographing a Scotch Master Tape Box, could this be a master he gave away or something? Just wondering, because it's really cool to see a photo like this. The photo is in the Media section, Under Early 1960's and it's the 16th slide.
