Do you think Brian's original idea was for the three sections of Cabinessence to go together?

"HELP ME RHONDA". The only redeeming factor I han hear is the fact that if I end up old and senile I won't have any problems remembering the lyrics to that song.
3  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / New Cadillac Commercial With The Torchin' Iggy Pop Tune... on: November 13, 2006, 05:14:30 AM
Anyone seen the new Cadillac commercial yet? It's got a rippin' tune by The Teddybears featuring Iggy Pop - Great stuff, though I heard the rest of the disc is pretty forgettable.

Anyway, here's the tune if you want to hear the whole thing:

4  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Johnny Cash performing Reznor's 'Hurt" on: November 09, 2006, 07:20:09 AM

I think this video is simply... Profound.

Cash seems vulnerable. infirm, introspective and STEELY - all at the same time.

If you haven't seen it here it is:

Probably nearly impossible to watch without at least a hint of extra moiture in your eyes.

Hey Charles:

Do Mr. Meade's people still get a bad rap in and around the City Of Lakes?

God does not die on the day when we cease to believe in a personal deity, but we die on the day when our lives cease to be illumined by the steady radiance, renewed daily, of a wonder, the source of which is beyond all reason.

Side 1 of "''Deliver" absolutely slays!

Plus. I love how similar the back cover of that album is to the back cover "mock-up" of the SMiLE sleeve.

Dread Zeppelin  -  "Un Led ED"

Elvis meets Bob Marley on acid.

Robert Plant himself says he loves Dread Zeppelin and that their version of "Your Time Is Gonna Come" is better than Led Zep's. Jimmy Page kicked Carl Jah in the shins. Bob Dylan "almost" danced to their music in Oslo, Norway. David Crosby called Dread Zeppelin, "some weird merda". Dave Stewart of The Eurythmics let them record all of their classic "Un Led ED" in his home studio in Encino, CA while Jeff Lynne played tennis on the grounds. Jerry Garcia called "Un Led ED" the best album of 198.! Julian Cope called "Tour-Telvis: A Bad Trip" psychedelic. But Lionel Richie was apalled that DZ wanted to do his song, "Brick House (of The Holy!)" -hey, he's a serious art-tiste. President Bill Clinton, was excited to shake the hands of producer Jah Paul Jo and bassist Butt-Boy.

Interesting topic!

I love it,  H!  The "cohesive-stylisticdiversity" category.

Maybe Prince's second album?

Or the Who Sell Out?

Just thinking out loud here...
23  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Raspberries Disc on: January 06, 2006, 05:27:31 PM
Thanks! I'll heed your suggestions!

Well, I think I'll keep Rose-Colored Glasses though - just love the faux psychedelia on that one.

24  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Raspberries Disc on: January 06, 2006, 08:45:17 AM

OK, here's the deal. I'm making an audio CD for someone who is open-minded but has never really heard anything by the Raspberries. The disc can't exceed 75 minutes. What songs and running-order would you suggest? Here's my initial list/running order.

Oh yeah, I'm going to title it "Two-Straw Milkshake"  Cool

Overnight Sensation
I'm a Rocker
Drivin' Around
Come Around And See Me
Ecstasy
I Wanna Be with You
Rose-colored glasses
Let's Pretend
I Don't Know What I Want
Party's Over
I Saw the Light
Starting Over
Don't Want To Say Goodbye
Nobody Knows
I Reach For The Light
Hard To Get Over A Heartbreak
Go All the Way
