My wife said, when I opened the amazon cardboard box today after work, I was just like a little child unwrapping its toys on Christmas. But that's not true, it was even better. A dream came true.

Well, I just listened to it and I am really impressed. A fine piece of music and best of all: Good Vibrations with the "Humdidum" extension

A feel a little pity for you guys on the other side of the ocean, still 4 days to go...

Now I'll listen again, but on headphones

Mr Stebbins,
I just finished the book, it was a very enjoyable reading and I can and will recommend this fine piece of work. I especially liked the "What's Wrong?"and "No Go Showboat" chapters, not expecting them in a book apparently written by a fan and not a neutral music journalist. It seems that your book "Dennis Wilson: The Real Beach Boy" is out of print, I hope it will be published again in the future. If so, I'll promise you, I'll be the first to buy it.

The whole Beach Boys reading experience made me even more waiting for Oct 28th, when SMilE is at last published after all those years...

What a price for this gem:

http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B005IFQUPQ/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_6?ie=UTF8&m=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF

1855,99 €uro, that's 2.500 US$

I could fly to LA and get my copy at the store in Disneyland for that money

- no women in that video (except in choir, not sure about the babies)

- the video apperantly taped on the german trash TV channel RTL II
- The fact, that blowing out a single candle in a hall full of lit candle makes the whole place dark

Found the DVD in my mailbox at last and watched it instantly. I really enjoyed it. It's the exact mix of interviews, narration and music clips that makes it a captivating documentary. I really think it shows the essential contribution of Brian to pop music.
Actually, I mostly enjoyed Prof. Lambert's music explanations (got to get his book). I dig it, when people explain music, not being a musician myself.

Hey Danny Hutton, get a new pair of spectacles, the one you have don't fit, you have to get them in place every 30 seconds. That must be annoying?

And Peter, I'm currently reading your book "Paul McCartney A Life" and now a have your voice in my head while reading it  Grin

I'd like it more if I could buy the twofer for a decent price, but...

amazon.com  176,80 USD

amazon.de  not available

amazon.uk  58,99 GBP

amazon.fr  not available

No way...  Cry

Granted, you most likely wanted it in hard copy, but here's the link to the Mp3 version:

Thats exactly what I did in my agony  Grin

I actually wanted the real thing with booklet and original CD but I missed buying it before it went out of print.

I'm the one who posted that "Summer In Paradise" was a masterpiece and rocked nearly as much as Wishbone Ash.

Yes, you're right, they have a lot in common

They have a forum??? I'm amazed

I'd be more than happy if my local record store had a Brian Wilson tab and the BB tab would contain more than a Greatest Hits CD

But... I noticed they have a POB under W Misc  Grin
42  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: VH1 s**ts on The Beach Boys on: August 25, 2010, 10:49:10 AM
These lists are always fun because everyone is annoyed, either their beloved artist is missing or an artist is in the list which is very doubtful to be in it (Hello Prince and Madonna, I mean you!)

As a Beach Boys Fan I think it sucks that they are not in the Top 5, where they belong. Nothing less!
But with common sense I think #15 is a good result, isn't it?

Still desperately seeking Wishbone Ash... Where are they? Can't find them and that must be a mistake from those VH1 guys.

Kayla, I enjoy listening (and watching) your songs and I can't wait to hear your next cover. I'm excited to see, what song you will choose next.

Keep up the excellent work! Smiley

German Amazon has it currently listed at #1216  Sad

French Amazon has it listed at #12.419...  Thud

Maybe if I buy a second album it jumps to #312 in Germany or I buy in France and voila: #2165 LOL

49  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Best Amazon Review Ever Of The BWPS DVD-Set - Brilliant Opinion on: August 13, 2010, 11:55:50 PM
He's lucky, he paid 5 bucks, I paid much more. He would be much madder, if he paid what I paid.  Grin
But apparently he knows that he doesn't like BW in the first place, so why did he spend his valuable money on it? I wouldn't even spend 2 Dollars on this Wishbone band, because I know it's not my music. Poor fella.
He should watch the "Beautiful Dreamer" bonus disc, maybe he can learn... Ah, what the heck, wasted time...

He wanted that we're annoyed. Some are, most of us are amused.

50  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: In your opinion what is the best Beach Boys related dvd to buy if you have 0? on: August 09, 2010, 10:21:49 AM
It should be a director who's a bit in the BB thing. Martin Scorcese in IMHO a great movie expert, but what does he know about the Beach Boys life & music? We can only presume.

"Endless Harmony" is a fine piece of work, I really love it, because that was the initial spark, that brought me into the music of the BB. Maybe an Extended Directors Cut is a solution. Add much more music, more bios and extend to today.
