Why does Brian Wilson grant interviews? Why do people still want to interview him?
Brian doesn't grant interviews. His management arranges them. The current round is promo for his upcoming US/Canadian Gershwin dates, and prior to that he flew to England to boost ticket sales for the fall tour. Why do people still want to interview, say, Macca, Mick or Frankie Valli. Living history. Is it safe to say that they're somewhat...sane?

Also, does he sound like someone really pissed off with the lyrics ? Or pissed at all ? Curious about this, has it been said/written that it was Mike that wanted the lyrics/name of the song changed? I honestly don't remember what the deal was. He sounds like he was having a regular ol time...

There is not one track list...obviously there is a track list for the double cd package, another for the bigger package, and a third for the lps. Maybe that is one reason things are not being announced. It is a challenge to work through all that stuff and perosnally I think the original July 12 date was way too optimistic.
And thus the mystery of SMiLE continues...

“I think people will listen to it, and some will get their mind’s blown and others will think it’s too far out there for them,” Love said foder bro, the only two buttholes that think this is too far out for them is you and bruce. Proof positive that the two of you are somewhat lacking mentally...Bruce has been a constant supporter of that era. I think the only BB stuff he speaks out more highly about are Pet Sounds and Smiley Smile. This is from MOJO from long ago.... Bruce Johnston, "There's tracks on the box set that represent not a great album but the worst times we ever went through. I listen to them and I don't feel any joy, I feel uncomfortable, I can hear Brian disintegrating. The music was cool but it's always tinged with the reality of making it. Brian degraded us, made us lay down for hours and make barnyard noises, demoralized us, freaked out. I can't tell you a lot of it, it's really fodido up. He thought it was hilarious, he was stoned and was laughing. We hated him then because we didn't really know what was happening to him." Oh...

He may have thrown out little nuggets here and there that what he thought Brian was doing at the time was "brilliant" but I am pretty sure (ok, not 100% sure) that he's also thrown out words to press that is very similar to Mike's assessment.

A couple of things could be debated from that article, although not relevant to music so I guess it doesn't matter here. That being said, my dad use to always bring back "rock n roll" records from the states to Peru (where we're from) and have dance parties at friends' houses. As you can imagine, he ALWAYS brought back Beach Boys records. They were, they are, and they forever will be his favorite band. He's gone to see them multiple times, I haven't seen them once! Anyway, since the early 60's, to today he listens to the Beach Boys and as you can imagine it has a direct impact as to why I'm here. So blame him.

How much did Stamos have a hand in American Family? I thought he just threw money at it for the producer credit. I'm about to take probably the most controversial position ever to have been taken on this board with regards to Stamos; unlike the other Johnny-and-Janey-come-latelies who have guested on lead vocals on a Beach Boys tune (think the 25 Years Together special), John does at least show a measure of respect for the material. Granted, the whole power ballad production doesn't seem to fit the tune, but all of Summer In Paradise had that punchy, loud guitar sound. I'd argue that his heart was in the right place, but the execution came off horribly.
Agreed!

You're high, Tears in the Morning is a grand slam.
Friends has the best flow, beginning to end hands down no questions asked.
We'll eventually hear merda about it anyways, so I might as well say it: If not for the inclusion of TM I would rate Friends as their most perfect flowing album. Unfortunately, the chill flow of Friends turns into a class VI river rapids run when TM comes on. _____ Pet Sounds Surfer Girl Love You are my choices for best flowing albums. Especially Surfer Girl. I like TM, but I agree maybe if they added a track before it to sort of build up to it, then the "flow" of the album would be PERFECT.
