For that matter, anyone have a pic available for the Irish release?

Don't forget EMI owned Stateside and the Reprise deal didn't apply worldwide.

In other words - it beats me!

In New Zealand, and presumably in other non-USA markets, all Reprise releases for a few years were on Stateside (owned by EMI) which explains the second version of Cottonfields being released here as a single on Capitol and appearing on the Sunflower album on Stateside.

Likewise, the various Stateside singles that followed shortly thereafter "Tears In The Morning", "Long Promised Road" and "Don't Go Near The Water".  All these New Zealand singles are fairly rare but none more so than "Sound Of Free".

You bet.  Give me a few hours.

Done.

Not an album but I did sell my New Zealand Pressing of "Sound Of Free" (to one of the regulars here) and it took me several years to find another copy.  I learnt my lesson.

I'm now aware of four copies in captivity.

On a similar note, I heard from a renowned collector in the 1970's that a track existed called "Carry The Roses" possibly recorded circa 1970.

Anyone know anything of his tale?

I meant 'this' tale but it kind of fits anyway.

It sounds to me more like it's something that has been talked about, but Brian's people don't want that to take away from the Gershwin album coming out. I really hope that Brian's people don't blow this thing. Unless of course the guy is 100 percent against doing it.

Ha, I had the same thought.  Kind of like a couple of old heavyweight boxers trying to goad each other into one last big payday regardless of the consequences for the participants.

Yeah -I'd like to see that.  One would hope that maybe the BBs have a copy of that in the tape vault-but you never know.  I'm sure that if they knew then how valuable all that stuff was-they'd have made sure they had a tape of every TV show for their vaults-but I don't think they really cared that much at the time.

It must be time I had another attempt at getting my mitts on it.

As I recall they (TVNZ) claimed BRI held the rights and would not release it without their consent and a massive 'production' fee.  I'll let you know how I get on this time around.

Dennis also fronted for the band on the evening television news shortly after touching down in Auckland 25 February 1978.  He spoke of his joy and pride in being a Beach Boy.  At this point at least he still looked and sounded great.

As stated on Bellagio the show from the 28 February was filmed and shown on national television.  Many years ago I tried to purchase a  copy and then later to 'borrow' for a fan convention to no avail.  I wager the film still exists.  Poor quality audio tapes are in circulation.

Hey great work guys.

Here's a Brian autograph from early 1964.  The fake is nothing like his writing, not even the 'B'.
