I do. My first concert ever (16). Easily impressed but they were probably pretty bad, as was most of the tour. As mentioned, it was filmed and played once. QE 2 stadium which was destroyed in the Christchurch earthquake of 2011, and now demolished. A few years back a poster here did say a friend of his went partying with Dennis after the show but could provide no details. I do remember a story in the main paper as it was a pretty big deal for a city of 300k. I think it was a sell-out of about 10k. This audio is from the show apparently. https://youtu.be/BgXCpFCaQGsI may have been the poster you refer to. My friend, then aged in his late teens, spent time with Dennis although his encounter could not be described as partying. We both attended the show in Auckland but foolishly I declined his invitation to join him in Christchurch where he met Dennis and Brian and perhaps others. Photos were published in a short lived NZ fanzine he produced around the same time. I no longer have copies. The BBs arrived in Auckland from LA and traveled onto Christchurch. Their arrival and an interview with Dennis was screened that evening on our main TV news. That’s how much of a big deal they were in NZ then. They flew back to Auckland the following day for the show. I went out to the airport and only got to see them boarding their bus. I later saw Carl in a limo at what appeared to be a one man soundcheck. He smiled and waved at me but what I recall was how pale he looked. Brian was also interviewed by Rip It Up magazine. The interviewer much later told me it was one of saddest and strangest interviews he'd ever done. As for the Christchurch film. I wrote to TVNZ in 1980 with a view to obtaining a copy for showing at a NZ fan convention. I received a courteous reply declining my request on the basis that the rights were held by BRI or something like that. Ironically about 100 metres from where we held the fan convention Mike Love would spend several days more than 20 years later and my friend referred to above would chauffeur Brian and Jeff around Wellington after being asked to by Jeff rather than wait for their organised transport.

I wonder if any famous BB clothing/outfits have at some point been discarded and/or donated, and wound up in a Salvation Army or Goodwill somewhere? Maybe these items are sitting in some non-BB fan's closet right now, or in a landfill?
I wonder where are the current whereabouts of Carl's 1980 Knebworth jacket? Mike's late '60s robes? Denny's Fleetwood Mac t-shirt? David Marks' embarrassingly-oversized suit jacket from the 1962 Bel Air Bay Club gig?
I have Mike's green jacket from the infamous 1978 Australasian tour.

I thought I would share with all of you... a letter Stan wrote to a friend who then purposely forwarded it to Stephen... who's ears it was meant for! Remember... even after Stephen gave Stan the $52,000 dollar a year job, working for Brian as a bodyguard-handler, after he was a "BUST" in the NBA... and insisted on investing those monies Stan was payed. Earning Stan over $750,000 dollars... this is what Stan wrote about his Brother Stephen! The brother Stan calls "Coconut!" Coconut is very "dead" to me. He is the most f***ed up guy I have ever come across and I don't consider him a brother or family member. He is a loser bum, a waste of life. I WISH HE WOULD HAVE DIED INSTEAD OF MY SISTER STEPHANIE! He is not worth the air we breath. There is so much hatred in his thoughts and actions. I choose not to be around people that live in the past and are filled with hate! I do not hate, just choose not to have people in my life that do. The same goes for RP. I don't want Coconut or RP to follow my son Keven in his basketball career. He would not like them or ever want them in his life. Quite frankly, my kids don't care about Coconut. He is gone forever in my mind, the embezzler, convicted felon, that hates women and family. He is a total loser, bum, scammer. Coconut and RP do not exist in my thoughts or present life, as I choose to live in the here and now, except when i am forced to recall sh*t in defense of my family. Also, tell the bum Coconut to quit following KL and referring to him as family. KL would NOT like Coconut as a human being and all the negativity and hatred he carries in his heart, as Kl chooses to surround himself with goodness and success and those who look to inspire others, not bring them down! Some things shouldn't be in the public domain. Posting this does no one any credit.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Is Steve Love A Credible Source?

From a strictly neutral perspective and to answer the OP's question "Is Steve Love a credible source?" I'll throw in my 10 cents worth.
SL would likely come across as a reasonably credible witness who would present well but given his bias against Mike his evidence (testimony in the US) would be easy to challenge and to cast doubt over its veracity. Then you add equally or more credible or compelling evidence from others on the opposing side and it's likely nothing much would turn on whatever he testified.
From a very casual glance at the thread I get the idea SL made himself and his evidence available to Brian's lawyers. Perhaps there's good reason why they decided not to use it and therefore whatever the evidence is, it is nowhere near as important or as useful in a legal context as some might think.

Another, somewhat less informed, review. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/news/article.cfm?c_id=1501119&objectid=11612499While Funky Pretty has never done much for me and last night did nothing to change my mind, Wild Honey was an absolute highlight and Sail On Sailor wasn't far behind. The early 20s hipster in front of me audibly gasped when he heard the first note and had to wipe some tears away. A few observations. I have seen Brian 6 or 7 times solo and around 10 times with the Beach Boys and I have never seen him so relaxed and dare I say, so happy. There were lots of teens and 20 something's and they were right into it. Very knowledgeable and respectful too. The merchandise stall had queues before, during and at least 30 minutes after the show. I wanted a Help Me Rhonda shirt but couldn't be bothered standing in line for so long. From where I was the theatre appeared full (2300 plus) and ticket prices were the equivalent of around $135 US. They say the UK audiences are hip, well I reckon NZ and Australian audiences are too. Don't Worry Baby was simply breath taking.

"And as for the lawsuit Mike brought against Brian claiming he was deserving of 50% of the royalties from the songs, I know there were shenanigans that took place in that trial that hopefully will see the light of day in the future. I gave Brian all the ammunition he would need to undo the wrong done him when I was deposed at length in AUG 2006 in connection with the Jardine-Love case. I feel that Brian was royally screwed by Mike and his highly effective lawyers. They really snowed that gullible jury. What a travesty that whole thing was. I believe it is one of the biggest injustices ever to occur in the history of pop music!" - Steve Love from an online blog. I wonder what he meant by all of that?
Perhaps Steve Love overstated the weight of his deposition.

On its way to me. I'm seeing Mike in a few months so I'll be sure to show the jacket to him. It should fit one of my sons so I cannot wait to see Mike's reaction when he sees it being worn.
Looking forward to the report (… partly because I'm not sure how I'd react if approached by someone who dressed his lad in my cast-offs! )
In person I have always found Mike to have a great sense of humour and I'm picking he'll be pretty relaxed by the time he makes it here. Tell you what, I'll try and get a photo of the two of them together. Besides it's a cool memento from the '78 tour to go with a few other bits and pieces I have. A very good friend of mine, and still a hard core fan, spent quite a bit of time with Dennis in Christchurch.
