The Beatles had a white VW on Abbey Road now that you bring up similarities.
Is the licenseplate 616 LBX another clue for the 'Brian is Dead' rumors? Abbey Road's being LMW-Linda McCartney Weeps. Other clues on BB covers- - The people looking into the water on the dock on th Holland album (Brian drowned?) - A Young Man is Gone is about Brian - Brian was not able to being on the back of the Smile album cover, his stand-in was sick that day. - Brian and Bruce don't appear on album covers together in the 60s-Brian's stand-in appears on Pet Sounds cover while Bruce is show on the back with the rest of th guys, separate photos on Wild Honey, the group is illustrated "together" on the Friends LP, Bruce appears on the cover, no Brian except he appears by himself in the gatefold. Sunflower album had a stand in for Brian, notice he was looking down. It's fun making this garbage up.

Something no-one's mentioned here - the movie versions of "AS" and "SSS" not only segue into each other, they're completely different recordings. The title song has different lyrics, too.
Really? Having been a younger fan, I've never seen it. Is that part of the movie posted online anywhere? Anyone know where I could read those different lyrics?

A little trivia, the cover shot for the Almost Summer soundtrack is of the Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunset Boulevard. Somewhere in that time frame, give or take a year, the Eagles had a wildly successful album called Hotel California, which had a very similar cover shot of the Beverly Hills Hotel on the front of it.
Good call

Is it weird that whenever I've heard Celebration's music I imagine that Mike Love was stomping his feet up and down and swinging his arms across his chest during all of the songs, only stopping to do weird finger gestures?
Not in the least bit weird! I wish they'd put the side 1 material to this soundtrack/album with the first Celebration album and the Disco Celebration album, all on one cd.

Did any vinyl re-releases of Pet Sounds have the bonus tracks: Trombone Dixie, Hang on to Your Ego, or Unreleased Background vocals (for Don't Talk)?
Yes, there is one mono reissue from, I think the early '90s that came in two different editions. I just edited this because I wasn't sure I had the numbers right, but I know N2-16156 is the regular album and there is another version with some kind of number variation that has Hang On To Your Ego as a bonus. It is not listed on the label. Interesting, thank you, I wonder if I have it...I have a reissue from the 90s in the wrap still...I'll look later. Next questions, and they're slightly related: I've been really into studying the Paley Sessions from the 90s, I've noticed some boots are called Slightly American Music (which is a great album title!) but some are called Landylocked, why is that? Isn't this during the time he was gone from his care? I'd think the Sweet Insanity or Usher Sessions would be called "Landylocked". Also, does anyone know a good source for the Paley Sessions? Particularly the song Slightly American Music? I thought the Surfermoon site had them, but it doesn't.

I'm celebrating today as my one year anniversary of having my own video blog on youtube. A year ago, i took a video of myself reviewing The Captitol Years boxset, and since then, have continue to upload videos of reviews and updates over my collection. 70 some videos and 76 subscribers later, I feel this year has been very successful in starting my channel. Last week, I lead a discussion on an interview from Endless Summer Quarterly 94 between Lee Dempsey and David Leaf, the subject being the Good Vibrations boxset, a year later. A very interesting read if you haven't read it yet....even 20 years later, it's very interesting to study: Here's part 1: http://youtu.be/r8l8nqK6mYEPart 2: http://youtu.be/MRZ5rDo9Co0Part 3: http://youtu.be/kpSBpRbFmOEConclusion (sorry folks, this was a long one, I know! Definately worth it all, took a lot of great notes): http://youtu.be/ZPngvGDycuI I also recorded a show for today's celebration. To make today special, I decided to go through part of my collection/archives that I haven't shown yet, hope you all enjoy: http://youtu.be/8P856AYByiM

Somebody asked me last night if I have heard "Behold The Night" and "I Really Love You". I see a couple of you guys say the songs "exist". Other than reading somewhere that they indeed "exist", have you heard them yourselves? I know they exist, but are they in circulation amongst collectors? 'Cause I've never heard them.
Yes, I heard it once, but it's not in circulation. I only heard it played under special circumstances. You were drunk? He was dreaming That or I was with someone who had access to it...think about it.

Tell about Brian's role on CATP & Holland - how much he was there, did he have any ideas or even opinions on Blondie's and Ricky's songs, were you even slightly genius-awestruck of him when you first met him, how do you he felt about you joining the group...
I second that one too, that's a good one!

1) How did you meet David Johansen? Did you ever see the New York Dolls perform? What is the story behind the album "Here Comes The Night"? 2) Do you keep in contact with Ricky at all? The songs you wrote together for The Beach Boys were incredible, is there a chance you would write with him again? 3) are there any songs you wrote with Ricky/any of the BBs besides Carry Me Home, Hard Times and the studio version of We Got Love that remain unreleased? 4) Have you had the opportunity to listen to any of the material from the second Flame album since you recorded it? How would you compare it to the first Flame album that you recorded for Brother?
Thanks!!!
I second number 3. Also, what are your memories and/or opinions of Jack Rieley?

Big Sur is generally regarded as Mike's finest hour by BB fans...
Not this fan* - the decision to pare it back to campfire basics to fit with the rest of the "California Saga" suite was 100% correct. The so-called Landlocked version is way too lush. [* - since you asked... "Let The Wind Blow"... "All I Wanna Do"... "Viggie" (the ocarina mix)... "Kiss Me, Baby"] Where can one hear that mix of Viggie? Concerning Big Sur, I like the "Landlocked" version best, it seems a lot more positive than the Holland version, in some ways. I also think the Holland version seems a little dark and weary...not a bad thing, just dont to enjoy it for this song. I do like the harmonica on the Holland version, reminds me of PiaNo Man.

"Sweetie" exists. It's similar to "Mona" in that's a piano romp kinda-thing.
Isn't Sweetie basically a Heart and Soul re-write? Sometimes it's on Andy Paley boots but I think it's from the early 80s. I think (think) on a recording of Les Chan interviewing Brian in the early 80s, Les asks Brian if Sweetie will be in the setlist that night, Brian replies "no."
