New Rolling Stone article out about the new song and the soundtrack album. There is a link to hear the entire song. I think it's fabulous.

I have been to Brian's first two shows of the new tour.(8/29 and 8/31/21. Brian sang the majority of leads and was in very good voice. He sang all 3 verses of Sloop John B, a strong lead on surfin USA in the encore and the strongest lead on FunFunFun by him that I have heard in years. He did not sing much on Barbara Ann, but who can blame him? Personally I am so tired of this song - perhaps Brian is as well.

Brian sang a very strong lead on I Get Around,  DanceDanceDance, Salt Lake City, Good Vibrations, Do It Again, God Only Knows, California Girls, and strong bridges on Wouldn't It Be Nice and Long Promised Road. And a very good Love And Mercy.

Al sang leads on Help Me Rhonda and Wake The World, Barbara Ann, and one or 2 of the car songs.

Very good shows and Brian is in very good voice.

If it is Mike stopping it, can't he simply be out voted by the others?

Anyone ever hear why Breakaway was not on Sunflower?

Dennis is mentioned once by name by Manson when he is outside the house looking for Dennis and Terry Melcher. Scene is set sometime before the infamous night.  Manson of course, was not at the house that night. I didn't hear NLNHTL in soundtrack, but perhaps it is there. Wild and fun film. The ending is...

I Can Hear Music On Sirrius xm yesterday. If you a Sirrius set up that allows you to set Alerts you can hear a lot of Beach Boys. Their various channels play a lot of Beach Boys throughout the day. Hoping they bring back The Beach Boys channel for the summer.

I was driving home from LAX airport last night and at midinght they played "Mount Vernon and Fairway:Fairytale" in its entirety. A very cool way to return to LA and drop back down into the San Fernando Valley and its twinkling lights. Segued into "In My Room" and then "Please Let Me Wonder." Very nice.

I grew up in Indiana, north east Indiana near Ft Wayne, and "Good Timin" got a lot of airplay there. I was always surprised at its chart position. It felt like a much bigger hit in Indiana at the time. I love the song. Brian performed it in his set list a few years ago.

I have Breakaway going through my head today. "Feel the vibrations and all the sensations..."

I wager these could be the only Pet Sounds shows in 2018. These three Nashville Symphony dates have been scheduled for about a year. They probably requested the Pet Sounds material as this was booked in the middle of the Pet Sounds tour. I would prefer Brian be touring something else, but I don't have a major issue with it. I have tickets to two of the shows. LOL

Maybe he will be touring the R&R album next year?  Wink

Yes, wouldn't that be great? I am actually glad the holiday tour is next year. Brian needs the time now to rest, write and record (if he wants to).

MIU is a fun album. I admit to loving it when it first came out. Nowadays, I rarely listen to it, but like several of the songs. It's toward the bottom on the Beach Boys album list. but has its moments. My Diane I like a lot. I admit to a fondness fro Match Point Of Our Love - I enjoy Brian's vocal and the melody. A lot of people don't like its lyrics, but hey, he was going for a metaphor. LOL

I like LA a lot, save for Sumahama and the disco marathon. Yes, cut it short and add 3 songs. Bruce - you blew it there. I agree that Brian and Dennis had several songs, several, that could  have been added and really elevated the album. Yes, it's a Yacht Rock feel of an album, but I like that about it. Good Timin' has always been a favorite. Good Brian and Carl song. I like Full Sail, Angel Come Home, and Love Surround Me. Baby Blue is very good.

KTSA - I liked it at the time. Haven't put it on in years. I like the title track a lot, Santa Anna Winds, and Living With A Heartache. I always thought a country star would come across Living With A Heartache and have a hit with it. The covers do nothing for me. I enjoyed hearing them perform KTSA live back in the day. Have a great summer memory of that in a concert at the Pacific Amp in Costa Mesa, CA back in the early 80s. Just out from Indiana and a huge Beach Boys/Brian fan, those 80s concerts in Southern California were like heaven for this landlocked small town boy.

20/20 - I never knew or considered it a hodgepodge when I discovered it in the 70s. And so what if it is? Its a solid album. I just bought it on vinyl again. lol

20/20, Love You, LA, MIU, KTSA, 15 Big Ones...................................................................SIP

My order of those being discussed. MHO

Let the man rest.

I hope he does. I don't know what markets they would have left to do this in unless it was truly just one concert in LA or NYC that could be filmed. I'd be down with that. But he doesn't need anymore stress on the road this year.

Considering Christmas Tours are usually announced during the summer months, I'd be pretty surprised if a 2017 Christmas Tour materializes.  But, if it's on the table for 2018, I'm there.

On re-reading the email from the agent, it is for November-December of 2018, not 2017. Sorry for my over exuberance.

Cant imagine the Xmas tour happening unless its announced within the next week or so...wonder how old the info is about him shopping an xmas tour is?

I saw the agent's email  to a buddy of mine who books/manages a venue in a major mid-west city and it was dated the second week of October.
17  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike Love - Unleash the Love - Due November 17 - w/ 2nd Disc of BB Remakes on: November 02, 2017, 10:54:52 AM
I bought SIP when it first came out as I was excited about a new Beach Boys album. And yes, ugh. It is the worst Beach Boys album, by far and away. Exponentially so. But, lol, I do like 4 songs on the album. " Strange Things Happen" (although it sounds like it was unfinished)," Lahaina Aloha" (yes, a Kokomo derivative/rip off/whatever), but I enjoy it when I hear it; "Hot Fun In The Summertime", and "Remember Walking In The Sand". I know most, above and beyond the general distaste, seem to dislike Remember,, but I like it. Even inspired a screenplay by me. S0 yes, I haven't listened to the album in a few years, the overall sound and production is crap and it has a lot of drek on it. But I do like those 4 songs. No, they are not in my top 100 Beach Boys songs and yes, they should have waited for Brian, and Carl and Al should have taken much, much more leadership on SIP. Their vocals are what I like on the album. I think Mike is a disaster in many ways, and this album is one prime example. I will not be buying or listening to the new solo release. I have heard a few seconds and no thank you.
18  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Heard Another One on Sirrius XM Deep Tracks... on: November 01, 2017, 08:25:28 AM
I heard "It's About Time" from Sunflower,on Deep Tracks yesterday. In the same hour in the car I also heard "Little Duece Coup" on 60s, "409" on Underground Garage. "California Girls" and "Wouldn't It Be Nice" later in the day when I was back in the car. The WIBN was the Brian on the bridge version which I prefer. Sirrius plays that version about 80 percent of the time, at least 80% of
the times I hear it.

Brian's agent is shopping a short "Holiday Tour" right now. It would be Brian and Al (and The Band) performing The Beach Boys Christmas album and other BB/Brian tunes. They are looking for venues that did not book Pet Sounds. Tour would only be about 4 weeks long around Thanksgiving thru Christmas.
20  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Heard Another One on Sirrius XM Deep Tracks... on: October 27, 2017, 09:47:18 AM
I hear a lot of Beach boys on Sirius. I heard "Strange World" yesterday on Deep Tracks and "Do You Wanna Dance" on the 60s. I have Alerts set for several artists and a few songs, so when driving I am alerted anytime a Beach Boys song is playing. I have an alert for Brian and Dennis, too, as on rare occasion they get played. Not all cars sirrius configurations have the Alert option. I find it invaluable. Channels I hear Beach Boys on: 60s, 70s, 80s, The Bridge, Deep Tracks, Classic Vinyl (rarely, but have heard Good Vibrations and Sail On Sailer), Garage, Love (God Only Knows mostly), The Loft (where I heard Brian [Southern California from TLOS] and Dennis [River Song]). No Shoes Radio, and Margaritaville. If you can set the alert you will hear quite a bit of The Beach Boys. The Garage will play some hits, but also deeper cuts from the early years.
