If they're looking at a date in say March/April for release, then I wouldn't expect a track list before February.

I may have to make up my own.

To get things started I'm gonna divide up the content and make a guess of how much material will go into each category.

I propose the following guess:

Category 1. Run of the mill, commonly available song, unremarkable, but likely remixed for this package.
Category 2. Run of the mill, commonly available song, but previously unreleased live recording of the song.
Category 3. Run of the mill, commonly available song, but alternate take, demo etc.
Category 4. Rare, but previously released song [or edit of song eg. a single mix], perhaps first time on CD.
Category 5. Previously unreleased song.

I'd be happy with about 2 discs worth of category 1, and about 1 disc for each of the other categories.

Any thoughts?

No-one noticed that all three versions are available on CD if you get the Japanese CD release [which has 2 of them]?

10,000 Years has got to be released... it's a cowrite with Dennis!

Probably Dennis didn't mean for the track to be all about Maharishi! Maybe that's why he abandoned it).

Cottonfields - Elton John

I heard this track years ago, and it was said at that time to be the beach boys with elton john (or is that elton john with the beach bioys?) - Anyways, does anyone know if the track actually features the Beach Boys?? It could've been recorded at Caribou around 1973-4??

Didn't Al have a versions of "Islands in the Sun" - not sure the exact title - the Harry Belafonte song?

Is that a possibility?

Why, when editing a thread, is the original title blanked out and replaced with a slash?

I can't answer your question (or my own question) because I'm totally worthless. sry ;(

I can't answer yours, that's for sure.

Someone here must know.

Hi guys - think this could be my first post ever!

Anyways, it seems to me that the Unknown Instrumental (which is grouped with Mother May, Runaway With You (= Ride Away) etc. is very very likely "Rock And Roll Bash".

Can anyone confirm this?

Also, seems to me, from memory, parts of it bear a more than passing resemblance to parts of Surfin' USA.

[edit: I see now that it is my fourth post]

It really blows my mind that "That's why god Made the Radio" is apparently not even close to being the best song  Shocked

Why? That song was clearly over-hyped! One listen and I was disappointed. Glad to hear other songs might be better. My feeling is that there were too many songwriters on that one - and yet it sounds unfinished (lyrically).

The above link is an interview of some vintage - Al talks about wanting to remix "Drivin'". Did that happen??

Great idea - would love to hear it, but filesonic no longer allows sharing.

Any chance of a re-up?
