Smiley Smile Stuff / Brian Wilson Solo Albums / Re: Gettin' in Over My Head

1. How Could We Still Be Dancin'. 2/5 2. Soul Searchin'. 4/5 3. You've Touched Me. 1/5 4. Gettin' In Over My Head. 3/5 5. City Blues. 2/5 6. Desert Drive. 1/5 7. A Friend Like You. 1/5 8. Make A Wish. 3/5 9. Rainbow Eyes. 3/5 10. Saturday Morning In The City. 2/5 11. Fairy Tale. 2/5 12. Don't Let Her Know She's An Angel. 4/5 13. The Waltz. 0/5
Sweet Insanity and the Paley sessions produced some really good material, so even Brian's shitty vocals here can't completely sink the album. Most of the other songs are fairly bad. Often considered the black sheep of Brian's catalog, it's still better then NPP! Overall 2/5.
How convenient.

No to promote this and the film! "After seeing the movie, Van Dahlen reached out to Melinda Wilson. "We started talking and crying," she says. "We both said, 'We have to work together.'" In the coming months, Brian, Melinda and various Love and Mercy cast members will take active roles in the Campaign To Change Direction. "We're going to do some PSAs," says Van Dahlen. "We're going to screen the movie to various communities, sometimes with cast members present, and there will be additional interviews and articles to promote Brian's story." Bugger that. There's plenty of ideas if you get creative. What about a sleeve of Frank Holmes' SMiLE drawings? Or find some way to crop the Wild Honey cover so it looks nice--a bunch of flowers as opposed to an awkward square of them I mean. Or what about this: turned upside down, covering your pubic region, minus the words--that area will be left blank, and where your willy will stick out! Gives a whole new meaning to bush, and jungle, and other nether-region slang. great idea. with the pic upside down, the top of the house will be pointing directly at the little monster Sucky Suck

My family and I live in Australia, we have a great Country as you all know. I absolutely loved travelling to the USA last year, I fell in love with New York and other parts of your wonderful Country. But I have to say, people like Bean Bag scare the living f*** outta me. I have watched you post about gun control, abortion, PP, Obamacare etc, some of you views are frightening.

Not splitting hairs, rather disproving a "fact" offered up in evidence.
As for the invite, someone - Elliott Lott, presumably - called B&G and the secretary put the details on Landy's desk, where it stayed. Carol Kaye told me. She was there.
Also: "Rock & Roll To The Rescue" - released 6/8/86, charted 6/28/86.
"Still Cruisin'" - released 8/7/89, charted 8/26/89.
I never said anything about it screaming up the charts, just that it was a strangely long time between the release and the debut. Nearly twice as long as the two singles noted above. Granted, they didn't hang around too long but the point is valid.
The same Carol Kaye?

"No Pier Pressure" is very down on my list of favorite Brian Wilson albums. Much of it doesn't even musically sound like Brian to begin with, and once it came out Brian said "I can't write a song to save my life" in Rolling Stone Magazine.. So it appears it's Brian Wilson, and not the other guests, who is the true guest star on his own album. The songs are very un-Brian like.
Just wrong, no other words but a steaming pile of wrong!

You know the drill: First, someone says or does something politically incorrect. Next, mobs of wild-eyed, unhinged keyboard cops swoop in to judge, shame, excoriate, and issue over-the-top condemnations ... After performing this ritual cleansing, one assumes, those involved feel slightly better about themselves. This sense of inner peace and superiority has not yet been scientifically measured, but it lasts, alas, for only a few fleeting days. That’s when it’s time to find a new World’s Most Despicable Person.
So Nelson Bragg and myself pull you up on a few comments and you post this?

I hope they finally release what must be hours and hours and hours of candid recordings of the Boys resisting and complaining and defying and bullying Brian during the Pet Sounds and SMiLE sessions. Its the B-side to the hours and hours and hours of candid recordings of the Boys embracing and praising and loving and encouraging Brian during the Pet Sounds and SMiLE sessions.

I'm sure about Brian's piano. I stood feet away from the man and heard him play piano with the band, it was audible and it was a treat to hear him play and sing. Whatever people believe on Hoffman's board about this issue means jack squat. It's a non-issue as of this recent tour in 2015. Not every song uses every instrument on stage, that's basic common sense. And not every song has a full-blown piano part either, so on some songs he's not playing full voicings throughout the whole song on every section any more than another instrument would sit out when they don't have a part. But when he played, it's audible.
You're right! And he sounded great! It seemed he had lost some of his piano skills in the early 2000's possibly because of over-medication, but at the Ravinia show, his piano playing was stellar. I love when they would film his hands playing, and he still knew all of the changes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLFn21CmgFUBad vocal aside, those that doubt his piano playing need to take a look at this.

If you guys like it I can put it on other products as well.... and I might still be tweaking it, so if anyone REALLY likes it and wants to buy a shirt or something, maybe hold off a couple days, I may end up perfecting it!
(and I take criticism as well, so let it fly!)
I just bought 4 of your designs and had them flown over to Australia, two Brian sandbox, one band t and one Radiant Radish T.

The embarrassment I feel playing that song loud enough for anybody to hear the lyrics, I have only felt listening to Eminem, Vanilla Ice, or.... well I can't think of anything else that bad.
I would not rate the guy who has written songs like "Lose Yourself" and "Renegade" with Vanilla Ice. Just saying... 100% agreed. All right STOP, collaborate and listen..
