Some nice person on YouTube has put some footage of Charlie Brown to one of my tracks. It’s quite appropriate for this time of year as the snow has just started to fall here in Scotland
Thanks hypehat! We were definitely going for a minimal 80's thing. 80's pop seems gets looked down upon a lot for some reason. But there was quite a lot of good stuff done in the earlier part of the 80's.
It’s been awhile since I posted here. I have produced and played on a new EP by a band called Burt Viola. ‘matt- zeus’ another forum member here was also involved in making it and it was all done with sense of humour.
You can listen to A-side here. (Not really any BB influence at all apart from the little harmony bit in the breakdown)
I just want to add the Surf School Dropouts input into this track was amazing. You should definitely check out their music if you haven't already, they are a bunch of talented guys!
A rough mix of my first vocal track, my collaboration with the excellent vocal group The Surf School Dropouts is now online. It definitely has a bit of BB influence - mainly the ‘darker’ BB stuff and Dennis’ music. It’s going to be the closing track on my debut album. You can hear ‘Where Have you Gone’ at various places online:
My first ever music video has just been completed and is now up on YouTube. It was made by filmmaker Justin Hannah who also made a rather nice video for H&V from BWPS which is also worth checking out.
I haven't been able to access this board for ages for some reason. But I just want to recommend the original of this song. I think it's one of Matt's best songs (along with 'I'm Going to Make You Mine Missy'). A fantastic chord sequence in the verse which definitely has a bit of BW influence to it. I had great fun remixing it!
I don't really mind the criticism to be honest, I probably even agree with you. In an ideal world my recordings would be more organic but the simple fact is I don't have the money to record things as I would really like.
I read this board every so often so I thought I'd finally let you all know about my music. I'm definitely influenced by the Beach Boys especially old Smile bootlegs, Friends etc.
