I take that back, it's terrible.

It's a very credible Elton John rip off.

Wowie zowie, this is too much fun to resist!

I like Student Demonstration Time.

I pretty much love all of M.I.U. (except the title).

I enjoy Pet Sounds in stereo as much as mono (it almost sounds like a different album).

I actually really like Barbara Ann, but I think it has always sucked live. Especially as an encore.

I love Bruce and all the songs he has contributed.

Speaking of, I will never understand how anyone could dislike Tears in the Morning. It is one of my absolute favorites. The piano coda is gorgeous.

I will also never understand why A Day in the Life of a Tree is so loved. Yeah, the message is important, but the lyrics and metaphor are ridiculous. And in my opinion, to a greater extent than some have said about Don’t Go Near the Water (which I like). And Rieley’s vocal is absolutely horrible.

Big Sur > Beaks of Eagles > California

I love the album version of Be True to Your School, but I might hate the single version.

I still find very little reason to listen to 15 Big Ones, but I think I am possibly beginning to see the appeal of Love You. I'm not holding my breath.

The last three songs of That’s Why God Made the Radio are good, but not great. I like From There to Back Again and Pacific Coast Highway is decent, but I think Summer’s Gone is totally lame. The lyrics are almost gleefully depressing and too self aware.

Calling these three songs a “suite” is borderline pretentious.

EELS: my 2nd favourite band/artist after the Beach Boys. But okay, that's another thread.

(By the way, wouldn't you love to hear Mr Everett tackle some Dennis Wilsons songs? Little Bird seems like an EELS track, anyway. And I could think of some more.)

Motherf*cker owe's a huge debt to Dennis. I can hear him singing that one.

This is especially funny since there is a song called "Little Bird" on End Times. I can't belive no one else has mentioned that.

I love the Eels.

But seriously, some of the hardcore posters are intimidating as hell, and PMs out of the blue to some of these super-fans seem... intrusive and obnoxious. Then again, so is asking for it in threads.

I can understand where you are coming from but it is a fallacy though.  Most people here are "big teddy bears"  Wink when you get down to it even if outwardly it doesn't seem like it.  The one thing that I would advise is that you have built at least a reputation for being a contributor to the forum before randomly PM'ing people for stuff.  This is as much of a courtesy to the forum as it is making sure that you aren't someone looking to exploit the goodwill of the members rdregof the forum.

This is my quandary and why I didn't pick a random name to PM. I don't post much and never will. I read the board regularly because I love the band and I enjoy the discussions, but I rarely feel the need to post. I hardly see why the number of posts should influence a fellow fan in asking to hear something everyone is already talking about.

And in my opinion, goodwill only applies to the source. If everyone else here is so concerned about secrecy or pissed off at all the requests, why talk about it at all? As I said before, I come here for the news and conversation, not the sweet hook-ups. Trust me, I would much rather get it from one of those evil sites-that-shall-not-be-named than trying to get in good with the cool kids.

If I knew for sure who was holding and willing, I would approach them. But since I don't...

PM please?

And also notice this is not my first post. Barely.

Two words: Little Richard.

From 'Let Him Run Wild' which is my current obsession:

"And now that you don't need him
Well he can have his freedom"

That rhyme is BRILLIANT! It makes me proud to speak English.

8  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / In My Childhood lyrics? on: November 05, 2009, 04:55:41 PM
Hello all.

I was wondering if lyrics have ever been seen for In My Childhood. From what I read in Peter Carlin's (awesome) book, Brian had the song pretty much done, and even sent Tony Asher a demo of the song. I am only assuming it had lyrics with it.

Based on the sessions I have heard (the official release and the incredible Sea of Tunes) the song was still In My Childhood when the tracking sessions began. Although, now that I think of it, the vocal sessions have the new lyrics...

Has anyone seen the lyrics anywhere?

Thanks!!!!
