Wow, having "Barnyard" lead into "I'm In Great Shape" sounds great.

I do have some sort of fan-made stereo version (based directly on the 2011 release) already. Smiley

I dunno if I can do that, but I WOULD like to have a go at a side-long "Good Vibrations", most likely using the (admittedly very rough) T-9280 CD version as a guide.
79  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / The Smile Sessions addendum? on: October 26, 2014, 02:41:06 PM
Quick question...

Am I misremembering, or did some fan put together a multi-disc 'part 2' of sorts to "The Smile Sessions"?  Possibly with a stereo mix of the album as disc one??

I'm curious.... was "With Me Tonight" ever meant to be part of H&V?

What about "Our Prayer"?
81  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: \ on: October 25, 2014, 12:19:04 AM
If I remember, though, wasn't Brian describing (the unnamed) "New Album" as their next album in that widely circulated 'bathrobe' interview?
82  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: \ on: October 24, 2014, 06:55:30 PM
Look, all I'm sayin' is, if someone has a copy of "New Album" to spare.... contact me by PM. ;-)

That's ALL I'm sayin'. ;-)
83  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Here Comes The Night Medley 12\ on: October 24, 2014, 11:49:58 AM
You know, if someone tracked this down....

One could seriously edit the album version, the 12" version (with the long instrumental portions) and the Medley version into a 20+ minute "Here Comes The Night."  Oh my God, yes.
84  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: 17-minute \ on: October 24, 2014, 11:39:19 AM
soniclovenoize, could you repost your version somewhere? Smiley
85  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: \ on: October 24, 2014, 06:16:34 AM
Well, to be fair.... the bootleg outfit who put out "The New Album" also put out 'Adult Child', 'California Feeling' and 'Merry Christmas', leading me to believe that they had a credible source for unreleased albums. Smiley

Has anyone compared the "Happy Birthday Mike Love" tape heard on the unreleased "Mike Love Not War/Unleash the Love" Mike solo album to the other versions to see if sounds any better? My recollection is the sound quality was pretty similar. I also recall thinking there was no way Mike would ever get the legal clearance to include the recording if he had actually issued the solo album.

Mike just used one of the common bootleg versions that has Wolfman Jack haphazardly spliced out.

I'm of the opinion that the "New Album" was just someone misunderstanding what Brian said, and never really existed as such.

How so, when a copy of "The New Album" ended up bootlegged on vinyl?

27, and my introduction to Smile was buying BWPS about a year after its release - mainly because I wanted to know what the "big deal" was with it.

Now that I have this, I have to ask....  Why the 15-minute "Good Vibrations"?  I mean, surely this was not an official edit?!

Also, I find it funny that 22 years after the album, people still didn't know what "Barnyard" was - two songs are given that title in the track list, one being "With Me Tonight" and the other being "False Barnyard".  (Domenic Priore's book also seems to think that "False Barnyard" is the actual song.)

I mean, did the true identity of "Barnyard" not become known until the demo came out in 1998?

Does anyone have a suggestion where I might put the remaining bits?

I tried sticking "All Day" and "Eat A Lot" in a couple different places but they didn't seem to work.... wondering if anyone could come up with something brilliant. Smiley  Also wondering if there's a place to put that slow piano bit used for the Smile single's "Part 2" - you know, the one after the last 'dit, dit, dit, heroes and villains' variation.

And for the picky.... "Silver Summer" features Mike, plus Beach Boys touring band members John Cowsill, Mike Kowalski, Chris Farmer, Eddie Carter and John Stamos.  (The reissue, "Golden Summer Days", adds 'Vega-Tables' featuring Brian, as well.)

I didn't.  I asked if anything was missing. Smiley

See, that's the problem - a lot of the issues people are pointing out are explained (in detail) in the discography.... this is just a list of what I cover to make sure I have everything I need. :-P

Rollin' Up To Heaven.

I had a hard time rubbin' in the tub.

It's pretty bad when someone offers me a free copy along with a "Sorry you got so many smart-ass replies."

Cannot wait to hear it!  (The page isn't loading though......)

I'm trying to figure out the proper 'titles' for each of the sections in my version... after research in various sources, this is what I've come up with, though I'm still missing a few bits.

01:26 - Stand Or Fall
02:08 - In The Cantina
02:43 - Fire Intro (my own name for it, but calling it H&V Intro now makes no sense!)
03:23 - My Children Were Raised
03:35 - Threescore And Five
03:46 - Dumb Whistle
03:57 - Prelude To Fade
04:31 - Do You Like Worms?
08:01 - Bicycle Rider Theme
09:26 - Soul Made Beautiful
09:31 - Bridge To Indians
09:38 - Gee
10:25 - Part 2 Variations
10:57 - I'm In Great Shape / Swedish Frog (I really hate that title.  They don't say 'frog'!!)
11:44 - Part 2 Variations, continued
12:22 - Barnyard
13:10 - The Old Master Painter
13:26 - You Are My Sunshine
14:15 - Part 2 Variations, conclusion
14:49 - My Children Were Raised, reprise
15:13 - Sunny Down Snuff
16:14 - Barnshine

You know, you could cut this track up on a Beach Boys compilation so that choosing 'Shuffle' on your CD player spits out H&V bits all over the disc.... "Fingertips" style! Cheesy

I'd love to hear this CD somehow!!  Hint hint.
98  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Damn, I miss it being C50 on: October 17, 2014, 07:08:39 AM

The Live In Japan video....

Notice anything odd about the album cover collage at the start?  They not only totally ignored "Summer In Paradise" (and "Stars and Stripes", to be fair) - but they also left out "Friends"?!  That's an odd choice.
99  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Smiley Smile done right? on: October 15, 2014, 06:39:05 PM
All these 'Smile/Smiley Smile/whatever other albums or tracks spring to mind'-hybrids that people are posting up sound like incoherent messes to me.

Fire (in the middle of side one?), followed by He Gives Speeches, then Da-Da. I mean... huh?

But each to their own...

Well to be fair, I replaced Da-Da with the 1967 "Cool Cool Water".

Also, if you dislike that line-up - Fire in the middle of side one, He Gives Speeches - you do realize that's Smiley Smile, right? :-P

The NASCAR one is on my list!

I think "Sweet Rutle Tracks" is worth counting - one, because it's a full album's worth of material; and two, because I don't think the bootleg of that title is as 'unofficial' as you'd think.  I have a feeling someone involved directly in The Rutles just tossed that one out there.
