If you can't sing, don't sing.

I still remember reading more than once in the past, though, that Brian said Dylan was out to end all music (paraphrase). Did I dream that?

He felt Dylan could destroy rock 'n' roll.

I find Endless Harmony more promotional than historical.

Dave likes 'Hawaii' and even sang a bit on the show once. He told Brian that as a teenager he and his friends in Indiana considered themselves surfers. "oh, surf the bath tub!" says Brian.

It was May and August, but 1966 is a great year to look
into, and Batman is a fine way to start. Check out Hal Lifson's
1966! and Modesty Blaise, possibly the most 1966 film imaginable.

Were the whooshing surf sounds surrounding the water chant on the Sunflower album generated by a Moog in the summer of 1970?

Yeah, sure enough, turned it way up and heard it. For some reason it worked a lot better on the vintage mix from... wherever it came from.

There's something I heard on the internet long before the box set came out that they didn't have or didn't use. It was a 1:53 track of Child Is Father Of The Man, the section found on the box set disc 3, track 16, but with some staccato "shivery" strings, maybe cellos, in the left channel. Perhaps it was an overdub that they mixed out for the box, but it was pretty neat. Has anyone else noticed this?

Not wanting to be pro or con Mike (here) but I thought it was interesting that Brian sez (Pet Sounds DVD) that he told him in 1966 that using an outside lyricist for Pet Sounds was "just this once". Also, it would take a lot less time to read and glean information from some of these threads if there wasn't so much insistence on having the last word once you've already made your point. IMHO.

Could be from same session as DYLW piano performance w/ maroon shirt from Inside Pop footage in An American Band.

Wow, we eventually got to hear Danny sing it. 1967, of course, not 1969. Where's that dipdidadip dipshit Mike Love?

I believe I read someplace VDP didn't know where the "agriculture" in the lyrics came from & disavowed it.

What Van Dyke  said in ESQ Nov 2004 pertaining to new sequencing and lyrics was, "I don't take any credit at all for the big picture. I'm not saying that I approve of all the results. When I hear "I'm in the great shape of the agriculture..." I wasn't so sure I was going for it. Brian was ... very interested in agrarian stuff. ... He thought about the farmers and getting healthy, and being in great shape."

It's 'upper country', a term I've heard before (curiously from brits, though it seems to be about the french great lakes area before the USA bought/took it, but might also refer to the santa barbara area) so there!
