went to the BW concert 5 27 17 pantages th hollywood ca... OUTSTANDING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. Brian and the band were on FIRE..!! Opened with H+V.. New songs played ive never heard live.. Feel Flows.. She knows me too well..Salt lake city.. Car medley with Al on lead vocals.. LDC shut down honda.. .. Great to also hear.. Wake the world.. Add some music.. California.. Do you wanna dance.... BW sang the whole show with hardly any talk/singing like i heard in Indio ca 1st date of tour... Nick is using a Bass//Guitar ? on PS on a few cuts.. Looks like a Jaguar body with a long neck.. With a more treble bass sound than Bob Lizick and playing different lines as Bob.. The pantages is a very uncomfortable place to see a show..Seats are very small and no room between rows to speak of.. I will NEVER go to that venue EVER again..period
I'm glad to hear that Brian was singing more than he was at the San Diego show. I really am rooting for him to do well and to enjoy touring.

if brian and his band's performing this show today will he forget?
to mention today is the 51st anniversary date of the original LP's release
My wife and I attended the Tulsa, OK show and was very surprised there was no mention of the Pet Sounds' release anniversary. We saw Brian and the band last year down in Dallas TX. The biggest difference between now and then was last year Brian was still attempting to sing his Pet Sounds album still and was as usual hit and miss but this year it felt like a heavy burden for him to perform this album and gave more lead vocals to Matt and Alan on several songs. Brian seemed much more interested in doing the songs outside the PS album I will say. It was great to hear more lead vocals from Alan as his voice still sounds great plus I never got the opportunity to see him when he toured his own band years ago. I love seeing Brian in the flesh but as far as performing, it just didn't seem like his heart is in it anymore or maybe he was just having an "off" night. I loved hearing "Feel Flows" as I've never heard it live before and also "Let Him Run Wild" which Matt did a great job on. Overall, I loved the show, the band was great as always and if Brian still really wants to tour then at least they're doing the right thing and giving the band more and more lead vocals and Brian is still with us. I went to the San Diego show tonight, and even without reading this review prior, I noticed Brian's almost compete disengagement from the Pet Sounds album. He was talk-singing most of it and dropped out before the end of the song several times. He seemed much more interested in the other material. Perhaps the Pet Sounds tour has gone on too long. I'd like to see him incorporate more solo material; he has a huge solo catalog that he could draw from. Overall the show was enjoyable, but Brian's disengagement from Pet Sounds was probably apparent to the majority in attendance. There were several cool semi rarities: Feel Flows, Salt Lake City, Let Him Run Wild, and Wake The World. Brian changed the lyrics (as he often has recently) to Love & Mercy.

Al Jardine is my favorite living Beach Boy. That said, I really doubt that Mike added this to the setlist with any malintent. He and Scott (and probably others) enjoy doing the deep tracks and take any opportunity they can to do so. I believe Mike genuinely likes the song (I do too!) And that he just wanted to give the UK fans a treat. Nothing more, nothing less. Actually, it may even be seen as a tribute to Al, as it's announced as by being written by Al, right before introducing the Dennis tribute.
As for the performance, I think it's great! Ike channels latter day Al pretty well on some of those lines, and the background vocals emulate the studio version (rather than the Knebworth version) well.

Noticed on a recent set list on Mike's Facebook page there was "Getcha Back 2016". Anyone know what the significance of 2016 there is?
From January 25th this year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLNY_D8boogI can't make out the new lyrics (maybe someone else can) but it sounds like the lyrics at the end of the first two verses are altered a bit, and the beginning of the tag is changed a bit with added lyrics too. Interesting! Also, the whole ending part has been removed "I leave her and you leave him, can we maybe get it back again?" I'm wondering what the reason behind the rewrite is.

The song really isn't all that bad, apart from the little kids going "na-na-na-na-na". I thought it was going to be a hit.
I wasn't a fan at the time (my fandom began in late 1991), and from what I remember about 1990, I do think that this song peaking in the lower reaches of the billboard top 100 chart (like maybe #85 tops) could have been possible with enough radio airplay. I do think that the kids nyah-nyah part killed any chances of extensive airplay though. I agree with the sentiment that the song is not too bad, I enjoy Carl & Mike's vocals.

I've been to dozens of Beach Boys related shows, including shows in the 90's when Carl was still there, Mike & Bruce shows every year, Brian Wilson shows every year (including the smile tour), the C50 shows, Dave Marks shows, and Al shows. I've enjoyed all of them! But for me, nothing matched the excitement of the Oceanside, CA show I saw in 1999 performed by Beach Boys Family & Friends.
It's too bad this group didn't continue. There was something very magical about that group of musicians. And they also used a lot of the arrangements from the 70s concerts.

Completely agreed. I've been texting fan friends for the past hour about this. Trump has been ridiculed for being unable to book any big names. If they agreed to play, this would be big news, a big score for trump, it would make headlines, and the Beach Boys name would be forever changed. They would become a sort of trophy and a musical mascot for trump and his followers. This would tarnish their legacy more than ANYTHING they've ever done.

All of this seems like pretty farfetched speculation. There doesn't seem to be any hard evidence that Jeff would even want to lead the Beach Boys band, let alone that the Beach Boys would want that to happen. I agree with the person that said that Al would make a good frontman, although I'm not sure he'd want to tour as extensively as Mike & Bruce do.
& Al *was* a good frontman when he toured with Family & Friends band. Agreed!
