The 50th Anniversary Tour had a set end date; people need to get over it and move on.
Yeah, who needs The Beach Boys to have a future as a touring and recording act? I so prefer having disparate bands not making Beach Boys albums, not playing the massive gigs they were offered to further bolster the goodwill of a #3 album and a successful worldwide tour, in spite of the fact that it was a real possibility last year. This is fucking amazing. |

Anyway, I think we have to agree to disagree  No problem with that! I guess you can consider yourself lucky that Hitler was Austrian, not German! Well, that's actually irrelevant, as Austria was part of Germany for centuries, and they wanted in fact join Germany in 1919, but the French wouldn't let them. If they had, Hitler would have been German anyway. The archduke of Austria was German emperor until 1806! And as I said, it's not making fun of Hitler that I find offensive but comparing people with him. sh*t. You know your history. Good for you! Just for the record, why do you find comparing people with Hitler offensive? Like for example, would you be offended if i'd say "When you compare Stalin with Hitler, you can see that Stalin is much, much worse"? I will kindly ask you all to stop talking about Hitler in my thread, not for any ideological reason, but because I started this thread for a laugh, didn't log on for a couple of days, and now IT'S FUCKING BORING. This one quite cheered me up. Thanks, Judd! Watched this for like 30 seconds & am still not sure if it's Eric Idle from The Rutles or not. Going by logic, possibly not, since both of them come from different circles. As good as this thread is (some of the captions are really funny), I find most of these photos ordinary, not in the least "weirdest", as the title declares. Why the OP named it like this - I don't know. As the progenitor of this study into the aesthetic of Mike Love, I put it to you that the man is in no way ordinary. |

Well, if he was so powerful and had so much influence so as to derail the entire project, how the hell was Smiley Smile put out, one of the trippiest albums of all time? And if he was so powerful and influential why didn't they go back to the surf, sun and car themes on their subsquent late 60s early 70s albums (other than do it again)?
Capitol were desperate for a product and they had just scrapped months of work. They had to do something quickly. Also, $5,000 worth of hash might have clouded Mike's commercial instincts somewhat. Then they cut 12 songs about girls! |
