someone sent me a CDR rip of it...  *hint hint*

Defeats the purpose IMO.

Okie... come May once I graduate (finally) and get some money (finally) I'll invest in a decent turntable and some vinyl   Tongue

I'm still waiting for the Rarities set promised in 1994 (see the 30 Years box set liners)...

oh and the SMiLE set that keeps getting promised.  Remember "The Smile Era" that was to have come out in the mid 90s I think?
378  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Best sounding Pet Sounds mono? on: February 27, 2006, 04:55:10 PM
Alright by reading various threads, it seems the consensous is that the CATP/PS vinyl twofer has the best sounding mono mix of Pet Sounds.  That's all fine and dandy if I 1) had a record player that worked and 2) had a copy of it or 2a) someone sent me a CDR rip of it...  *hint hint*

Since that's not the case, what's the best sounding mono version available on CD?  Is it still the DCC Gold disc (which I do own and love BTW)?

How does the Advanced Resolution Mono from the DVD-A compare?

And for Mark and Alan, how will the 40th Anniversary version sound?

Sorry for the dumb questions but if you're gonna listen to the best album of all time, why not listen to the best version of it?

Hmm...

There were rumors that this would include some 93 "low voltage" tracks, now they include stuff from 74 and 89...

Perhaps our wishes are being heard and they'll start releasing more live shows, and this is just a "teaser"?

Regardless I'll buy it for the unbooted 74 tracks and the new "Spirit"   Smiley

I can't seem to find a thread about this, but apparently the "Brian Wilson Presents SMiLE" DVD went platinum while the actual studio album appears to still be waiting for gold.  You can go to the RIAA Gold/Platinum database for proof.  Way to go, Brian!

Sweet!!!

A Grammy win next month(?) would only help this achieve even more sales.

Way to go, Bri!

and the setlist from Paramount Theater which has been floating around the collectors circle for some time... ask around  Smiley

Paramount Theater, NY
November 26, 1993

Unbelievable!! The Beach Boys decided to add THIRTEEN songs to their normal 29-song setlist, without dropping any of the standard oldies, in an effort to promote the just-released "Good Vibrations" boxed set. This "unplugged" set was featured only on a few east coast dates (unfortunately). Quite a noble effort and proof that the Beach Boys still wanted to acknowledge the fact that they did make great music between "Good Vibrations" and "Rock and Roll Music." Wish I could've seen this one...

Drummer Liberty Devito substituted for Mike Kowalski for at least part of the show, if not all of it. Paul Shaffer came appeared on stage but did not perform.

Beach Boys present:
Mike Love
Bruce Johnston
Carl Wilson
Al Jardine
