Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / SMiLE fanmix that comes closest to BWPS using only 1966/67 tracks

Among the damaged discs in the flood were several CD-Rs that are rendered unreadable. Many of them I don't care about, but there was one SMiLE fanmix that I have been unable to relocate. It was nearly identical to BWPS in terms of flow but used only the original tracks. I'm unsure whose fanmix this was, or if it was a combination of a few that someone else put up. I would love to replace it if possible, as it was my go-to SMiLE disc and unfortunately I hadn't ripped it to my iPod or anything before it was damaged.
So I guess what I'm asking is for y'all to post your favorite BWPS-style fanmixes so I can try to replace it or at the very least make my own recreation of that mix.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Mike and Bruce Tour 2015

For 2008 the answer is simple - they had a drummer who could keep time and a new MD. For 2004, it's even simpler - Brian's BWPS tours delivered a metaphorical kick up the arse. I saw them in 2003, granted in a torrential downpour, and both performance and setlist alike were, to be polite, pedestrian. Just over a year later, they blew me away.
I have to agree with various others here, in that I cannot fathom why Mike & Bruce performing a three hour 60 song setlist is somehow worthy of censure, or at best extremely grudging and lukewarm praise. I was speaking with several people last night post show (band members and other fans) and they all voiced negative opinions of this board, and frankly right now I cannot blame them at all. A handful of posters are making this an increasingly dismal place to be. There's a cancer here that needs to be excised.
I stopped posting regularly years ago because of all the bullcrap that goes on. I still read the board every day. Or should I say I scroll more than I read because most of what is posted is useless back and forth bickering about this or that. Seriously people. The Beach Boys are in their early to mid 70s. They aren't going to be around (or at least performing) much longer. The fact that the touring band is doing a killer 3 hour, nearly 60 song set, is nothing short of amazing.

I've been using the following CD-R (now iTunes playlist) to give to people who are just starting out with our boys. It is very similar to their setlists circa 1994-1996, and has gotten a great response from everyone I've given it to. It may be too "Sounds of Summer" or focused too much on the hits (the most rare song is Sail On Sailor), but it works fantastic and has a great flow. One of my "go to" playlists for cruising around in the car.
California Girls Do It Again Catch a Wave Hawaii Little Honda Surfer Girl Darlin' Come Go With Me Do You Wanna Dance Dance Dance Dance Rock and Roll Music In My Room Be True to Your School Little Deuce Coupe 409 Shut Down I Get Around Don't Worry Baby California Dreamin Sail On Sailor Sloop John B Wouldn't It Be Nice God Only Knows Good Vibrations Kokomo All Summer Long Help Me Rhonda Barbara Ann Fun Fun Fun Surfin Safari Surf City (Jan & Dean, BW's first #1 song) Surfin USA
If you want to dive a little bit deeper, I suggest a playlist based on the RAH C50 date. 61 songs, some great deep cuts, but nothing too "out there" for most. The current M&B UK tour setlists are phenomenal as well, I need to make a playlist based off that this weekend!

How can I find out where this playing near me?
Having worked for two different theater chains now, I can tell you that our bookings are not finalized until about a week in advance. Many times we won't know for sure what will be playing on a new release Friday until the Monday or Tuesday before. Call or visit your theaters website on June 2nd and hopefully it will be playing...

The MUSIC (ie what is ultimately most important) is recoverable and/or replaceable for the most part. Guess I'll be ripping CDs all weekend while not working at the theater...
The booklets, cases, and a handful of autographs... that's the killer... along with the sentimental value and being able to look at a nice collection.
It could be worse... one of my neighbors lost an old box spring and mattress set along with an antique dresser and mirror. And I saw on the news that lightning hit two separate houses in the area, leaving both houses completely destroyed.
And there are fine young men and women overseas risking their lives for our sake. Some paying the ultimate sacrifice.
I guess it's all about perspective, but man this sucks.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Lost most of my CD collection to flooding

I am beyond devastated right now. The basement in my apartment complex flooded. Thankfully most of my boxes are off the ground by 3 inches on pallets or shelves, but wouldn't you know it... the box containing a good chunk of my CD collection happened to be on the floor. In total, 85 discs have damaged booklets and/or cases. Some extremely rare like the Carl Wilson Japanese CDs (and the Long Promised Road reissue), the BW Do It Again single, the "Walking Down the Path of Life" single... ugh. I could replace some of the more common items if I had gainful employment and disposable income, but I have been on minimum wage since August. Heartbroken doesn't begin to describe it... Sorry guys, just had to vent.

All I have to say after hearing this track (thanks Shady!) is BRING ON "NO PIER PRESSURE"!! Holy cow, Brian sounds amazing. On first listen I hear a lot of similarities to "The Like In I Love You" from the Gershwin project, as well as the aforementioned similarity to "Spring Vacation". Still, I quite like it.
