VERY dissapointing news. I've been waiting for this album for years and as soon as there's a physical release, I'll be the first to get it. But as long as it's a digital release only: screw it. I'm not paying for digital files or a CD-recordable. Who said it would just be MP3s burned to CD? Er... the amazon.com website ? The way I read the Amazon description was that they do have access to the master files and then burn those to CD. What are CD-R and DVD-R media?
CD-Rs and DVD-Rs (the "R" stands for "recordable") look like the discs you're used to and offer the same audio and image quality. This recordable media is used to manufacture titles on demand, as fully authorized by the content provider.
Through manufacturing on demand, CreateSpace, part of the Amazon.com group of companies, enables Amazon.com to offer music and video content that might not otherwise be available. Each disc comes fully packaged, with artwork, in a standard jewel case for audio and an Amaray case for video, although for reissued products the artwork may differ from the original.
CreateSpace works with many of the leading music labels, television networks, film studios, and other distributors to make these titles available to Amazon.com customers. All products are manufactured from original source materials (e.g., for audio products, uncompressed CD-quality audio).
By eliminating inventory, waste, and inefficiencies in the distribution system, on-demand manufacturing provides the added benefit of helping preserve the environment.
When shopping, you'll see CD-R or DVD-R on the product detail page for such products. Amazon.com's standard return policy applies to these purchases.

And can I say I wish that Brian included synth bass on all his records?
I'm going to pretend that "duplicate the universe" is a nod to Love You. LOL... would be more appropriate if the line was "duplicate the Solar System". But perhaps this still works because not only can we duplicate the Solar System, we can duplicate the whole flippin universe now!

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / hypothetical 50th Anniversary Setlist

I thought it'd be fun to come up with a setlist that the band we put together would play.
Here's my 50 songs... enough hits for the casual fan, but enough treasures for folks like us, and not a marathon concert for the performers or audience.
The Band: Brian Wilson - vocals/keyboard Mike Love - vocals/percussion Al Jardine - vocals/guitar Bruce Johnston - vocals/keyboard/cheerleader David Marks - guitar/vocals Blondie Chaplin - bass/vocals Ricky Fataar - drums/vocals Billy Hinsche - keyboards/vocals John Cowsill - drums/vocals Jeffrey Foskett - vocals/guitar Probyn Gregory - vocals/guitar/trumpet/french horn/tannerin/kitchen sink Paul Mertens - horns/woodwinds Matt Jardine - vocals/percussion Scott Bennett -vocals/guitar/keys/drums/bass Christian Love - acoustic guitar/background vocals
The Setlist Short film on the history of the band with interviews, clips, etc Surfin (start with original recording then go live, similar to the way Mike's band does it) California Girls Do It Again Surfer Girl When I Grow Up (To Be A Man) Dance Dance Dance Ballad of Ol Betsy Little Deuce Coupe 409 Shut Down I Get Around Don't Worry Baby Getcha Back Hushabye Add Some Music Please Let Me Wonder Wendy Let Him Run Wild The Little Girl I Once Knew You Still Believe In Me Breakaway Long Promised Road Trader Friends California Saga (On My Way To Sunny Californ-i-a) I Just Wasn't Made For These Times Surf's Up Til I Die Wouldn't It Be Nice To Live Again Angel Come Home Forever Heaven All I Wanna Do Cool Head Warm Heart Midnight's Another Day Marcella Heroes and Villains Wild Honey Don't Fight The Sea Sail On Sailor Sloop John B Wouldn't It Be Nice God Only Knows Caroline No Good Vibrations Kokomo Help Me Rhonda Surfin USA Fun Fun Fun Love and Mercy
Not perfect, and the flow in the middle section could be tightened up, but I think it's a good start...
Thoughts?!?

"This guy did a very, very uncool thing to his girl. And that was it. She said, 'That's it, buddy, we're through.' He was like, 'WHAT?' So he's walking up and down the street at night wondering what the heck happened. And it's called 'Soul Searchin'"
ROFLMAO!!! Oh how I wish I could have heard him say that... CLASSIC!!

As someone who only really knows the Beatles from the hits played on Oldies stations, I am psyched to get my box sets! Got a Stereo box on order from Amazon, and Mono on order from Best Buy. Also have the Anthology DVDs in my Netflix queue. Less than 2 weeks until Beatles Day!!

I wonder how many members of this board are under 25?
makes me want to cry. I just turned 26. I feel old now. You're still a youngling... I feel old being almost 33. I remember 13 or 14 years ago a lifetime ago on what is now PSML I was known as "Jeffy (aka The Kid)" before adopting my current username of GoofyJeff (in reference to the Disney character, but also my sense of humor) because I thought I was too young to be a fan.
