1  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Scott Totten and John Cowsill depart Beach Boys band on: May 24, 2023, 09:44:43 PM
For what it’s worth, one small observation from me at aBeach Boys concert last year in Tilburg,The Netherlands. Stamos was present that night and doing his thing. At one point he took over on drums which was not to Cowsill’s liking. I don’t know ifStamos was supposed to play drums those particular songs, if it was planned, or not. John Cowsill made gestures and was saying things and from his body language and facial expression I could tell he was irritated. Stamos notuced this and tried to talk to Cowsill, while he was drumming. Cowsill did not make eye contact with Stamos and took a tambourine and remained on stage to sing harmonies.

Now I understand why “California Dreamin’” received the loudest cheers, mostly from young(er) fans at the Beach Boys’ show in Tilburg recently

After reading again I should correct myself: only the Amsterdam show has been cancelled. As far as I can tell all other UK/Europe shows are to be rescheduled.

“We would like to inform you about the concert by Brian Wilson on 7 June 2022 (original date 22 June 2020, which was previously moved to 13 June 2021) in Koninklijk Theater Carré.

Message from the promoter:
Due to Covid 19-related scheduling constraints, Brian Wilson is regrettably having to reschedule his 2022 UK and European tour to 2023. Unfortunately, no alternative date has been found for the show in Koninklijk Theater Carré, that was planned for 7 June 2022. Therefore, this show will be cancelled.

In an official statement Brian Wilson said:
“We are SO sad that we have to once again push our tour due to the constantly changing and challenging issues overseas surrounding the Covid 19 pandemic. Me and the guys were looking forward to seeing everyone, eating great food and performing.  But with routing impossible and needing to keep our touring group safe we need to postpone. Such a bummer. I miss Europe I MISS London and all of the UK…. My second home. Send good vibes that we will be out of this soon. Stay safe everyone.

Love & Mercy
Brian Wilson”

The mailman dropped off the box earlier this afternoon. I’m halfway through disc 2 and am very happy with the sounds and content so far.

Just found out about a new archival release on streaming services (at least Spotify in Europe) called “Live in 1970”. The artwork, basic as it is, issimilar to that of the “Going Your Way” EP.

Noteworthy is its copyright to Iconic Artists Group, LLC.
9  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Beach Boys re-unite for “Add Some Music to Your Day” re-recording. on: February 26, 2021, 09:35:53 AM
Great to see these people together and for such a lovely cause. Of course too bad Brian was not involved.

If you watch the video and especially if you wait until the end credits you'll get a good idea of everyone's involvement. Rob Bonfiglio co-produced the recording (with ESQ's David Beard) and plays most of the instruments. Additional guitars by David Marks and Jeffrey Foskett plus cello and violin by guest musicians Austin Hoke and Kristin Weber.

Lead vocals are by Mike, Al and Bruce with Matt  Jardine reproducing Carl's original lead part. Additional vocals by Carnie, Wendy and Lola (Carnie and Rob's daughter), Rob Bonfiglio, Justyn Wilson, Christian, Ambha and Hayleigh Love.

Lovely to see Carl and Dennis in the video too. John Stamos however... ;-)

Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks have come together to re-record the Beach Boys classic "Add Some Music To Your Day."

"Beach Boys Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks have come together to re-record the band’s 1970 classic “Add Some Music to Your Day.” It’s the lead-off single of the new LP California Music Presents Add Some Music, which arrives on April 23rd.

The album is the brainchild of David Beard, the editor and publisher of the long-running Beach Boys fanzine Endless Summer Quarterly. He brought the various factions of the Beach Boys, minus Brian Wilson, back together for the new version of “Add Some Music to Your Day,” which also includes contributions from Brian Wilson’s daughters Wendy and Carnie Wilson; Al Jardine’s son Matt Jardine; and Mike Love’s children Christian, Hayleigh, and Ambha Love. It was produced by Rob Bonfiglio, who is married to Carnie Wilson and plays guitar in Brian Wilson’s touring band. A portion of the profits will benefit Feeding America."

I have ticket for the Beach Boys concert at the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam but unfortunately no way of transport. Can anyone from the area going to the show give me a lift? I live near Rotterdam.

Caught the tail end. Matt (he’s back) and Al sang nearly all leads from “All Summer Long”. Brian remained seated while the others took a bow. The band sounded really good.

I just bought tickets fir the 5 July 2019 concert. I noticed that Jeff Foskett was not mentioned as part of the backing group. The band will consist of: Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill, Christian Love, Brian Eichenberger, Randy Leago, Keith Hubacher and Scott Totten.

He plays guitar too. He has performed with Wilson Philips and if I’m not mistaken California Saga.

Well, today a stereo mix of “Walk On By” was put up on YouTube and linked to from Brian’s official Facebook and Instagram.  https://m.youtube.com/channel/UC8HDM0wcaXWT-a2cOBKmGig

Could be a teaser?

What can you guys tell me about “Tune L”? Did Dennis write this? I hear his voice on the track, probably playing drums. I think I also hear Carl and Brian, I think? The voice on the talk back isn’t another member of the Beach Boys. That person  mentions “Dave”, asking him to ‘cool’ his amp.

It looks like someone is updating the setlist as the show continues here:

http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/brian-wilson/2017/tivolivredenburg-grote-zaal-utrecht-netherlands-63e42a9f.html

Looks kind of garbled in terms of order, unless all of a sudden they've shifted Blondie's songs to the middle of the first set.

That would be me :-). My phone batteries were running low so only had time to add titles quickly. Someone else added the "Beach Boys song" tag. I have completed the setlist now.

Yes, I have video. https://youtu.be/rRe5Ys-fMDg
