My official prediction is that this album doesn't happen. I really hope I'm wrong, though.  Undecided

'Sensitive Music For Sensitive People' as a R&R covers album title? I'll have to let it grow on me.

Not sure how much stock to put into what Brian says in interviews these days but it's interesting that he says he's going to record the album in December. There are over three months between the final show of 2016 and the first show of 2017.

Let's see if this pans out.

Brian also recently covered Little Richard's "Keep A Knockin" and Jimmie Rodgers' "Honeycomb," so add those to the list.  Smiley

Never heard of track 7 8 9. Are those newly bootleged beach boys songs or what is the backing info about them?

7.  Ecology
8.  Sweet Mountain
9.  Holy Man

"Holy Man" is a solo Dennis Wilson song.

New concert date!!!!!! *sounds the air horn*

Chicago Theatre
Saturday 10/1
Tix go on sale this Friday 7/22 (venue presale) and Saturday 7/23 (general sale) - both sales start at 10 a.m. Central

Wish they had announced the Chicago Theatre show a few months ago. I wouldn't have gotten tickets to Pitchfork. Music fests aren't really my thing.

Hopefully "River Deep Mountain High" appears on the fabled rock 'n roll album.

In My Room

Guilty pleasures? These songs are undisputed classics!

This is very disturbing news. Just goes to show that you never really know someone is capable of.

Really disappointed by the lack of a Chicago show. Not really sure I want to travel 7 hours to Indiana or Iowa for this.

Little known fact - "Help Me Rhonda" was originally "Help Me Ronald".

If it affects one's enjoyment of the music either way, there's a problem.

Winner.
64  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Albums that never were: California Slide (1974) and Good Timin' (1975) on: October 04, 2015, 11:15:38 AM
Smilin Ed H: Actually, before I had ''Sweet and Bitter'' on my playlist instead of ''We're Together Again''. I might just revert to that.

Did you have any other different songs in the "rough draft" of your "California Slide" tracklist before you settled on your final version? I'm going to listen to it with "Sweet & Bitter" replacing "We're Together Again" when I get home tonight.

How many Lei'd In Hawaii Wally Heider session recordings do we have in full? Wikipedia lists "Sloop John B" and "Good Vibrations,"  but I'm unable to find anything about those recordings elsewhere.

Still waiting for an answer...
66  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Differences to live song versions compared to studio versions - who wrote what? on: August 03, 2015, 08:53:19 PM
And on most live versions of California Girls, they inflect alright on:

"The midwest farmer's daughters really make you feel al-ri-ri-ght."  I've heard Brian do it this way too, but he didn't when I saw him last month.

That's also on the Lei'd in Hawaii version.

All I ask is that we get Brian's rock 'n roll album within the next few years and hopefully some more unreleased material on future compilations.
70  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian / Al / Blondie Summer 2015 Tour Thread on: July 26, 2015, 08:58:52 AM
So Brian's done "Honeycomb" "You Keep A Knockin'" and "I'm Broke" so far. The rock 'n roll album album cycle is in full swing!  Cool
71  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian / Al / Blondie Summer 2015 Tour Thread on: July 14, 2015, 01:30:22 PM
Who originally did "I'm Broke"?  It is not ringing any bells.  Thanks

Brian.

"Wild Honey" drags on way too long, I will say that.
It is a jam, like it was performed in the early to mid 1970's. Man, I must be getting old. I thought it was one of the best performances of the night at the Philly show. Just so full of energy and fun.

I like the jam element, I just thought it brought the pace of the show to a screeching halt. I noticed this from some of the people around me who looked visibly bored about halfway through the song.

I can't remember which it was but right before one of the songs Brian said kind of off-the-cuff "When was this damn song written again?"  LOL
75  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian / Al / Blondie Summer 2015 Tour Thread on: July 06, 2015, 10:04:57 PM
So cool hearing "Wake the World" and "Busy Doin' Nothin.'" The transition between the two was a little jarring but it was a huge treat nonetheless.

Took me a minute to realize they were performing "Honeycomb"! Maybe the 'rock 'n roll' album is closer to reality than we think.
