Neither one of you 'get' what I'm saying.  He was guilty and found so.  With that I agree 100%.  The fact that she was defenseless did not give him license to do what he did.  It was not an invitation.  It was not a reason for him to violate her.  The fact that she was in THAT condition, though, was HER fault.  She left herself totally vulnerable.  For that she HAS to take some responsibility.  There are, after all, consequences for actions...in REAL time.
I got what you said, Add Some. 3D You said the right thing. She shouldn't've got too tipsy if, clearly, she must be aware that when she drinks too much she doesn't think clearly. F.ex. some drink much & still stay with clear thinking. She doesn't. Which means she should've drink little.

Frankly, drinking is evil. Quit drinking, folks. It doesn't bring anything good. As strict teetotaler, I don't see the point in drinking. Even so-called social drinking. Not to mention it's got terrible taste going by the sharp fragrance. Hate it. I don't buy into its effect to lift the mood either. You, drinkers, delusioned by this myth. It, conversely, makes matters worse.

I'm not a goody goody by any means. I smoke enough weed to make Snoop Dogg look like Pat Robertson (although at this point of my life I mainly do it to help with my seizures). That said, alcohol does ruin lives and I have not had so much as a drop of drink in 4 years. My mother basically drank herself to death. My dad quit drinking when I was born; he lived another 23 years but he had cirrhosis and the end of his life was terrible. Seeing him decline like that f***ed me up. Besides dementia and/or Alzheimers, I can't think of a worse way to go.

So yeah, I may be a bit biased but I have my reasons.

Oh gee you smoke weed no offense but that is not a drug that is a medicine. You are talking to someone who just relapsed on glass recently no I am not proud of it ( and I am a couple of weeks clean now)but pointing out there are different levels. That is the only think I can say that can make someone do something horrible like what this guy did. Alcohol come on now he would have done something like this regardless. If he was really drunk to the point of not actually being able to control himself from raping someone, he would not have been able to get it up! Not to be too graphic but the term whiskey dick exists for a reason so I do not buy this for A minute. He knew what he was doing period and to put the blame on her angers me

There are reasons why I like what I like.my solution was the song that made me want to get into the band. That and the alternative til I die.

Have you heard the 1980 version of "My Solution"? Brian cut a backing track for it in 1980:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G02sDTNUUpk

Ironically, even though the band had released "Shortenin' Bread" the previous year on 1979's "LA (Light Album)", Brian also cut *another* backing track for "Shortenin' Bread" around that same time in 1980.

Wow that is pretty cool 😎 This may sound funny but I can hear somebody rapping over it... that groove is tight.

I am a giant Star Wars nerd which my new username might have given away. I used to get called that in school and it became my nickname well into adulthood.

I am going to miss this channel when it goes away. I never gave the early work its fair listen cause I thought it was not cool. I now see just how genius Brian was from the beginning. Heads you win, lonely sea, farmers daughter, and girl from New York City (which sounds proto-wild honey to these ears) were revelations.

Carl’s solo work sounds banging too. I had read before that people did not like it?
5  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Everyone back together for a Beach Boys Q&A for Sirius XM? on: August 11, 2018, 11:05:39 AM
Lots of pessimism here but I thought Brian sounded engaged and interested, which is different from many interviews, and he was actively seeking answers from Mike and Al (who is the GOAT at these interviews. Informative without rambling, biting without being mean.) Those seeking new music will be disappointed but I thought it was a fun listen. Even Rob Reiner, after a very bloviating start, settled down well into the Q&A format, and there is no denying that he knows his BB lore.

And now we "know" it was a brush stick on Surfin and not Brian's finger! this is the kind of all-important, world-changing knowledge the satellite radio format was invented for!

I always thought it was not his finger. For it to sound like that he would have to have hit it so hard as to have hurt his finger.

Not even 99/1%. This kind of thinking is just what is used by predators to help justify their behavior. "Oooh, she dressed like this or that, is in a vulnerable state, etc., so it's OK to do XYZ!" She was 100% for engaging in risky behavior, that is an issue of self-protection between herself and herself. He is 100% responsible for aggressing on another human being. Huge difference.

Thank you. I do not care how messed up you are there is no excuse. Someone close to me was raped and it took her a long time to move past it. She had been partying pretty hard that night and the guy who did it was her ride home, her so called designated driver.
7  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson - 2018 Tour Thread on: August 08, 2018, 12:15:38 PM
I heard from my friend who attended last night's show. Seems like everyone was in good voice, but my friend said that it seemed Brian was having an "off" night. She knows about Brian's history and issues of course — that he suffers from stage fright, occasionally hears voices in his head, is deaf in one ear, had major back surgery in May, etc. — but from what she described to me it sounds like one or more of those issues may have been flaring up pretty significantly for Brian last night. She told me that everyone in the concert hall could see how much discomfort he was in. She also mentioned to me that she overheard some people talking near where she was sitting prior to the start of the concert, and apparently one of them had won a radio contest where the prize was a meet-and-greet session with Brian, and that this session was abruptly canceled at the last minute by Brian/Brian's people, which perhaps reinforces her and my suspicions that one or more of his medical issues may have been flaring up significantly last night.

Aw, that's a shame. Hopefully it was an unusually bad night for Brian. I think it's cool that he and the band did a show in Israel, but geez, an international flight + jet lag seems poorly timed for an older guy recovering from surgery.

I would imagine that would be the case I mean I myself would be tired after that journey!

Oh no please do not get the wrong idea. It was not like multiple spam things just a few unsolicited talk trash PMs. Said Stop they did then they did not. That is it and not why I am here. I just wanted an additional place to talk about my favorite band! I am going to be posting st both places. I was typing in the car (passenger , people!) and it may have come off wrong. There are some cool cats too.

There are reasons why I like what I like.my solution was the song that made me want to get into the band. That and the alternative til I die.

Heads has a killer groove that is why I dig it.  Favorite song on the first album after 409

Good gravy already, the whole Mike ended C50 thing is bogus. BRIAN 'S WIFE ended it with the "no more Wilson dates" email: that is a fact.

I see that coming up a lot. Has anybody actually seen the email or is it bard completely on hearsay?

Anyway I am looking forward to hearing this broadcast. I am on vacation so I will be able to hear it with no problem whatsoever. This year seems to be turning to be quite the year in the Beach Boy universe and I am so exited!

I find myself listening to the Foo Fighters a lot lately. Not just in a hey remember high school kind of way. The adult me realizes they really are a dynamite band and Dave Grohl is very talented (and not bad to look at)

You may be interested to know then that not only is Skating Polly my daughter’s favorite band, she has the drummer on her friend’s list on Facebook. Not only that but the song you posted is her favorite. We even did a karaoke version of it (warning:I’m not a singer by any means)

 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6qKt7QMNMfM

That was pretty good! No offense there were a couple of notes that did not quite make it but wow otherwise that was banging!

How old is your daughter if you do not mind me asking?

To me it sounds like Brian because it is more clipped but he is trying to sound LIKE Carl if that makes any sense
14  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: If there is a 1968 set, when do you guys and gals think we'll find out?? on: August 06, 2018, 03:27:12 PM
I hope we hear something soon! This is my favorite era of the band and I am excited to hear what else may be in the vaults.

Don't want to assume too much one way or the other as far as what you own from the back catalog, but there are some cool "Friends" and "20/20" era outtakes on "Hawthorne, CA" (Dennis's "A Time to Live in Dreams" is worth the price of admission alone) and the 2013 "Made in California" set.

I've been really surprised none of the past archival sets have resurrected the mix of the song "Friends" where a string arrangement replaces the soaring backing vocals. Not better than the released version, but different.

There is a version with strings?!

For a while now I have been obsessed with the music of Skating Polly. For those of you here who are not familiar they are a family band, started when one half sister was 9 and the other was 14, kind of in a pop punk vein.
This is probably my favorite song by them

And also

I normally prefer older music but these folks are an exceptional exception (they are grown now too)

I love his phrasing on the “you and your friend tonight “ part !

First off I tried do this in the welcome thread but it will not let post there for some reason?

On a different tip

Thank you to whomever finally approved my account I have been trying to register for almost a year but here I am! I am a member at the other board but I am taking a break for a bit.

About me:  I am 35 been a fan for about 15 years but only recently became a diehard. I actually heard bootleg recordings like My Solution and a different version of Til I Die before I got into the rest of the catalog. I am not too knowledgeable about some of the behind the scenes type stuff which is ok because I do not really care, just dig the tunes 🤩. I mean that too please do not message me gossip about stuff i has to block this old man who seemed kind of stalkerish at the other place. I just want to chill and talk about stuff like how Sirius made me enjoy the older stuff more and how banging Heads you Win Tails I Lose is 😁

Anyway sorry this is in the wrong place moderators do not hurt me please 🤪 if you can explain why it would not let me post in the welcome thread plz let me know too. I promise it was not intentional-the button is missing!
