I guess it's safe to say that Al will sing "Sloop John B"
9827  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Al Jardine on \ on: September 28, 2006, 03:11:18 PM
I think the "you didn't think"-part ma very well be Al, after thinking about it, but the other parts no way imo. Brian just sung a little deeper.
9828  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Al Jardine on \ on: September 28, 2006, 01:59:10 PM
He does the lead on the second verse of "I'm Waiting For the Day".

No, that's totally Brian.

But I wonder if it's Al on WIBN doing the "ba baba ba" at the end while Mike is singing "Good night baby, sleep tight baby" or if it's just Mike overdubbed...
9829  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Do we know what songs where destroyed in the Caribou fire? on: September 22, 2006, 09:22:06 AM
I believe one song destroyed was "You're ridin high on the music". can't rememebr any others at this point, but there were some afaik

Not totally on topic but here's another aticle, with one passage that wasn't in the one I already posted (about Mike wanting to write with Brian):

Van Dyke's talents are still recognised and in demant. Not only on the forthcoming Joanna Newsom album but on the brand new (and wonderful) album by Scissor Sistors as well.

Really? I just saw them yesterday on TV, never heard of them before, and I liked it...

Guys, I'm so sorry for you, that you probably won't be able to understand the german one. I really can't think of any better one than this. It's called "Stromberg" here and every single actor is awesome and not to top imo.

Anyway, here are two clips:

The first one is just a preview and is not part of the actual show.

Maybe the question is not if Brian's band is technically better, but if Brian should say in public what everybody can see in concert.

Oh and with Mike's argumentation ("A., that's not a good thing to say about your departed brothers and B., I don't think it's accurate.") he could get himself very easily into some trouble (of course not legally-wise)
9834  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Sean Lennon Q & A in Rolling Stone on: September 20, 2006, 02:43:20 PM
Well, there's still the story about a party for, I think, Ricci Martin, where Lennon was very happy to meet the Beach Boys and especially thrilled to meet BW.
BTW isn't there a phone-conversation between BW and Lennon on Brian's official site?

So will must we expect that Mike sues again?

This is so great! I was looking for it for some time but couldn't find the site anymore. Brian seems so soulful and into the music !

Brian had his moments after '74 for sure...

Well, I don't know what Brian played on piano but he certainly played Elvis the new version of "Why do fools fall in love", because that's what Brian was working on at that time. There was no solo-project he did.

Darian will be part of the performances.

Whaat? You mean he hasn't been "fired" from the "band" as some rumor mongers "suggested?"

Shock of shocks!

(snicker)

I never said he was fired or something. But I wondered if he would be part of these performances, since he couldn't tour with Brian earlier this year....
9840  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian meets Elvis on: September 19, 2006, 03:40:29 AM
Well, it is siad that Brian and Elvis met twice, but other sides are saying that it, in fact, was just this one meeting. The Beach Boys, though, were invited to one of Elvis' great '69 Las Vegas-shows and met him backstage. Bruce already met him while Brian was doing "Pet Sounds".
9841  Smiley Smile Stuff / 1970's Beach Boys Albums / Re: Surf's Up on: September 18, 2006, 04:37:13 PM
"Lady" was also planed for inclusion on "Surf's up" ? Cool, didn't know that or just don't remember. But anyway, I think it wouldn't have fit very well on there....

In fact the T.A.M.I.-I get around has alot more nergy than the Sullivan one. But it's nice to see them no matter on what show. BTW the Sullivan-appearance is on youtube, you might want to check it out...

So, according to the "appearances"-section of esquarterly, Darian will be part of the performances. Is this true?
