I only saw "California girls" and part of "Sloop John B" yet and it's great to see the guys together again. Al looks older than I remembered it from his Rhonda-video, but what's with Mike? His face looks bloated. Is he sick? I hope not. Anyway, now I'm going right back to watching.
BTW I love their clothings. I hope they will wear this kind of outfit for the big 50th anniversary reunion-show with Brian and no hawaiian-shirts, etc

Did I do something wrong by giving out a true compliment? If so, I'm very sorry. So, on topic, yeah you definitely seem to look very much like Dennis on that picture. But people who know you and who knew Dennis are the only ones that really should be trusted, because a picture can fool you sometimes. Like others already mentiones, I think you should write and try to get in contact with Ed Roach and Jon Stebbins. BTW wasn't there a son of Dennis' about a few years ago that got in contact with Michael or Carl B. through the Blue Bamboo Room -message board? Maybe thats also a way to lear more about Dennis and get in contact with his relatives
Don't be sorry. You're very sweet. I'm not fooling anybody, i'm not stupid or insane. Who in their right mind would post a pic if they were lying. I understand what you're saying, thank you. If there's anyone who wants to challange me.. bring it on. I only have myself as proof, thats good enough. Of course I didn't wanna say that you were fooling, only that pictures are just that, pictures, and I guess if you're really trying to find out about your genes, you should get in contact with people that actually knew him and who have the opportunity to see you in real life. Most of us haven't met him (for example, I was born around the time you were, after his death) and we only know our stuff from books, pictures, websites etc. which of course is a good start but to see a person on a pic or standing right before you is a different thing. Someone mentioned Billy Hinsche. Of course he would be a fantastic source. He's posting on the BeachBoysBritain-messageboard but you could also reach him on facebook. That's of course not saying that you shouldn't post here, as it's really interesting for us freaky Beach Boys-fans. And you also seem like a nice person. You may find out alot of info about Wilson's life around here. May I ask, do you listen to the Beach Boys ? It would be interesting if you had some kind of connection even before you knew about your (biological) father. And again back to the books. If you want to know about Dennis' last months, you should, as somebody already said somewhere, read Steve Gaines' "Heroes & Villains". Years ago I asked Ed Roach on the Blue Bamboo Room how accurate it was and he said it was frightning because there were stories mentioned that he thought only he and Dennis would know. I can't say that the rest of the book is as true. But there are worse ones. The TV-movie "Summer dreams" was based on that book, and Bruce Greenwood played Dennis. You can at least watch parts of it on youtube. Click here: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=beach+boys+summer+dreams+movie+scene&aq=f The movie is quite bad (it's known as the "beard-movie" in Beach Boys land) but it got alot of people, me included, really into the Beach Boys' and especially the troubles Dennis went through, plus his coolnes. But don't be fooled, 'cause there is a very beautiful song "Dennis" is playing twice in the movie. That one was written for the movie though and just used for effect. Has nothing to do with him, although it kinda sounds like his style

Some good ideas here, but... BTW I think this board should be linked with BeachBoysCentral.com and become kinda the official one. That probably would also pay the hosting costs (Bros. records would take them over I guess)
The very appeal of this board is that it's a forum for OBJECTIVE discussion, warts and all, where tempers and arguments can (and often do) flare up but usually resolve themselves. A "Beach Boys-sanctioned" message board makes me think blueboard, and that's not a pretty thought. Let's keep this forum as is...I think the results speak for themselves. This forum of course would keep as it is in my imagination. Since so many insiders already are here, I figured it wouldn't be so hard. But yeah, you're probably right

Well, I remember reading/hearing somewhere that Brian Wilson/the Brian Wilson "estate" has been collecting Smile material for years now (since the BWPS dream started). They started asking around for any bootlegs/acetates/whatever floating around, and promised not to punish anyone who gave them the material. Supposedly, they have gotten some interesting stuff back over time and Brian now has his own personal archive of Smile material.
True ? I never heard that?

Well, it's clear that we fans have alot of wishes and that the officials like Capitol often do disappoint. So, what if they, meaning the BBs (Bros. rec.) and all of them finally open BeachBoysCentral and let us fans make a poll about what we would like to be released. And they are gonna look at what is possible. That way they knew that there are alot of people who'd buy the rarities and maybe that would open more doors, hopefully the plan that Alan Boyd had from beginning for BeachBoysCentral.
BTW I think this board should be linked with BeachBoysCentral.com and become kinda the official one. That probably would also pay the hosting costs (Bros. records would take them over I guess)
I know, all just simple and not very possible, but I thought I'd let it out.....

What's our deluxe dvd gonna look like? Specifically, what do you want? There's little videos and bites and documentaries all over the place to fit on a disc: -brief Friends acapella clip about "turning each other onto the good things that life has to give" (meditation promo) -I feel like there's these small music/song clips with Carl Wilson during Wild Honey era in the studio at Brian's House (does that sound familiar at all?) -Brian's appearance on SNL (Love is a Woman/Good Vibrations) -Alan/Mike appearance on Mike Douglas (Everyone's in Love with You and TM Song at the piano) -Brian's appearance on Mike Douglas (Sloop John B and Back Home) -Do it Again promo (the guys minus Brian go to a surf shop then go surfing) -Cotton Fields promo -Concert footage with Blondie (briefly shown Sail on Sailor on Endless Harmony) -MIU/Our Team documentary -Goin' Platinum documentary (KTSA era) -Outtake songs from Live at Knebworth 1980 (I Write the Songs, In My Room, Good Timin, Santa Ana winds, and Some of Your Love) -KTSA promo performances of each song (can't remember what it was called, used to be on YouTube) -Goin' On/Good Vibrations-TV appearance on Fridays (I believe that's what it was called) -25th Anniversary Concert in Hawaii -New Year's Rockin' Eve with Chicago (featuring GV, Surfer Girl, Darlin', and Wishin' You Were Here) -GV in Central Park (1971)- performing Good Vibes, Heroes, Okie From Muskogee, Forever, and It's About Time -Full performances of Andy Williams Show (Help Me Rhonda, Their Hearts, and Little Cycle) -Ready, Steady, Go clip of When I Grow Up to Be a Man -Full performance of Shindig (Little St. Nick, Monster Mash, Johnny B. Goode, and Dance Dance Dance) -New Years performance (1979 I think)- Here Comes the Night, Rock and Roll Music with Roger McGuinn, and Angel Come Home (I can't remember) -Never Learn Not To Love, talk show performance, can't remember what show it was) -Beat Club (1969) performance of Breakaway -promos: Don't Go Near the Water and You Need a Mess of Help with Darryl Dragon on keyboard -Getcha Back-tv show appearance (I remember Jeff Foskett is part of the band, Al is on tambourine, and Bruce on key-tar) -Top of the Pops performance (1970) Tears in the Morning Is that enough? Is that asking too much? WE DESERVE IT I'd love to see the video-outtake from "It's ok" where the guys sit around the piano and sing "Surfer girl". In fact, I'd love all of these sessions to be released. I'd even sit through more than one "I'm bugged at my ol' man" to see the "Surfer girl"-parts

Man, now that's the Brian Wilson I came to know & love, and even name my daughter Brianne in his honor back in '77. Check out that laugh, right after, "Wait, was I on that record?", and the sense of humor when giving out the parts for "Loving Feeling"... So glad he was able to overcome so much, and still be with us today. If only Dennis...
This Brian seems indeed like a guy you'd have alot of fun with. Very funny guy. Wonder if he's still like that, because there were more bad things he had to go through since then

Perhaps we've been put on the wrong foot. Perhaps it'll be 1 CD, titled: Mike Love Presents The Real Smile. With mr. Love's personal selection and favourite sequence.
I'd love to hear his lyrics to the instrumentals. She belongs there left in her little coupe never known as a drag-strip racer she laughs and thanks God she won, won, won, won the race Brilliant !

You have to know that BRI/Capitol did not want the SMiLE announcement to come out this way! I just hope the official response is to mute Al's comment as "premature; nothing's settled yet", then the parties involve move forward to compile the best possible SMiLE release imaginable.
I agree. Remember when in 2006 Al announced BBs-reunion shows in London and no one ever heard about that ?

Fun fact: When the Beach Boys played Back Home at a concert in Michigan in 1978, Brian sang "I'm gonna spend my summer, back hooooome!", like Al does in the unreleased 1970 version.
Which concert was that? The show I saw in October, 1978 at Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor, MI had Brian leaving the stage mid-song during "Back Home"! Mike had to run over and grab the microphone to finish the song since Brian was performing the lead. I guess Brian suddenly realized he wanted to be "Back Home" so he left? Reminds me of Presley cuttin' a song in the sudio called "Goin' home" and on the outtakes you can hear him saying "I don't know how to improve on that, except for goin' home" Maybe Brian had the same idea
