Looking forward to seeing this. As I mentioned elsewhere, I hope they use/are able to use lots of the beautiful and rare footage that has shown up during the years, be it live footage or interviews etc. For example the interview of the Boys including Glenn Campbell from 1965 or the Ida Blackburn footage. Of course they would need to find a way to include this in a way that makes sense. I would inmagine that when it comes to the Beach Boys there must be much more existing. So hopefully it won't be the same old Hawaii '67 footage overdubbed with a slowed down Live in London GOK.

Both, Scott and John, were the highlights in Mike&Bruce's band for me. There's a reason they were invited to join the Beach Boys' band in 2012 among with Brian's guys. They did add a lot and I would have loved for that band to stay together. And from what I've heard and read Scott and John enjoyed the tour and working with Brian's band members very much. I remember in the early 2000s before Scott became musical director Mike&Bruce's band was sounding terrible (check out the AVO session). When Scott took over (and probably not coincidenntally when Brian started to tour) that changed and the band became a potent performance act. I do wonder though what this means for Mike&Bruce's act. They may find someone to fill in for some shows but in the long term, keeping the band together and rehearsing them....

That's a shame. I've never heard Richard say anything about Elvis that wasn't positive. And it never seemed that he saw him as some kind of "rival" in that sense. It's bad that so many times people have to create a situation that was not there. One needs only to look on the many interviews on youtube that Richard gave.

This is very interesting! Fascinating what can be done. Now, I don't know nothing about the technical aspect so forgive me if this is a stupid question, but did you have to isolate the vocals from Smile '04 and then the AI would recreate a "young" version based on the "old" Brian?
I strongly suspect that "In Blue Hawaii" - if finished in this form back in the 60s - would've sung by Mike. It just sounds like it would need a Mike vocal. Would it be possible to create a "Mike" sung version with AI when there's no model of him singing it at all?

I specifically remember seeing a Jamie Muhoberac on keys. The only other time I’ve heard that last name is a Larry Muhoberac who played with Elvis on a couple soundtrack albums and live in 1969 with the TCB Band. I wonder if they’re related.
Seems so: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_MuhoberacBTW Larry was also part of the Memphis shows Elvis gave in early 1961, though not part of Elvis' band. And afaik he also did a little studio work for Sun Records, filling in for Jerry Lee Lewis when the latter wasn't allowed to play piano on his own records due to union problems. I love Muhoberac's playing. It's a little more bluesy than Glen Hardin's.

I always wondered about that, too. But unfortunately I can't tell what Sonny West (it is him, isn't it?) and the other are saying. I don't think this has anything to do with the Beach Boys but maybe I'm wrong. My wild guess is The Beach Boys sent Elvis a good luck postcard and he opened it. The picture would of had no Brian in it, Sonny asked where's Brian? Whatever happened to him? He's still out there writing songs... The look on Elvis's face is one of disappointment and empathy? Perhaps he knew of Brian's struggle and withdrawal?? Elvis was nervous about getting back out on stage and performing, perhaps he felt an affinity with Brian? Pure speculation of course. But the more I watch it , the more I'm convincing myself this could happen Well, the Boys (without Brian - I doubt Elvis knew much of Brian's condition, who did anyway outside of the band's camp?) went to a show in '69 (I hope there's audio of Elvis introducing them, if he knew they were there), so it could be that they sent him a card for the summer engagemnet in '70. Possibly a promo shot of the 20/20 era, which would mean that Brian's not in the picture. And yes, the comments do certainly make it possible that this was the case. Still, I don't know if this isn't too much of a fast shot without knowing any more details. Would be a tempting idea, though.

It only took like 12 years but yes, that song was written by Murry. The same band recorded his "I'll hide my tears" as well. Check out our fellow member Junkstar's site for more information: https://boltrecords.net/2020/10/10/murrywilsonlp/But the Beach Boys connections don't end there. Bobby Day (of "Rockin' Robin" fame) was a member of the (Hollywood) Flames, which had it's biggest hit with "Buzz, buzz, buzz" (covered by the Beach Boys during their '84 July 4th concert. The same Bobby Day wrote and recorded the song "Over and over" which was recorded by Mike Love for his first solo album (and re-recorded a couple of years ago). I wonder if the guys were aware of all the Bobby day connections.
