David also participated (along with Nina, now Kevin's wife) in a hilarious play/revue they did a few years back, the year before Satanic Panic. It was fantastic. David did all the hilarious costumes and scenery, while Kevin and Nina acted/sang/danced/acted stupid.

Hate is such a strong word! I know a stronger one; I love "Desire"!
I don't know if either is a stronger word, necessarily. Maybe you should have tried something like "I super-love Desire!" You know...just to be sure. I don't know...I think "love" IS stronger than "hate"...can I get a witness? Stronger concept doesn't make stronger word.

I dislike the '80s Dylan stuff, too. Of course, I actually don't like much Dylan after the late '60s up until Love & Theft, which I LOVE, and rank among his top 5-10 discs ever.
(Yes, I do like Blood on the Tracks, and yes, I do know it was released in the aforementioned dry period. That's why I said "much." But, just to piss someone or another off, I do hate Desire.)

I love Of Montreal. I got into them when their new album was "The Gay Parade." I love it to this day. I've seen them live 5-6 times.. driving many a mile and visiting cities I've never been to, because they didn't come to Michigan for the longest time. Now they come all the time. "Sunlandic" was pretty disappointing to me. Very slight and lackluster.. "Satanic Panic" was great. I hope they stop worrying about getting on the OC, and get back to what they do best.
I liked Sunlandic quite a bit. It is a bit of a departure, but not really so far off from some elements of Satanic. As for the OC thing, well, it's nice to make a buck, you know? Everyone but Kevin has a real job when they're not touring, and he did until quite recently, too--I think around Adhils Arboretum. I saw them twice on the Satanic tour and once on Sunlandic, though, and with so many people turning out, I'd say things are looking up on that front.

Thusly, no one wins since everyone has their own opinion. Opinions really mean nothing, which in the grand scheme of things means nothing anyway!
Wrong--I win. Why? Because your pronoun is plural and your subject is singular. When in doubt, hit 'em with grammar. That's what i always say. (Of course, that probably explains something I'd rather not think about...)

So.. let me see if I understand this. If it is not just an opinion but is yet, my belief, my belief stands for more if I don't actually say... in my opinion???
Doesn't weaken the thought, but it weakens the statement, thus the writing, thus the (for lack of a better word) passion, thus the debate, thus the board.

I have listened, many times. GTKNW, for me, is more tolerable because the other aspects of the song come through to bear more of the weight. But while It's About Time might rock (indeed, does rock), it still isn't good. I can like parts of a song and not others, or decide one aspect balances out others. IAT isn't musically strong enough to make up for the awful lyrics. Better ones might have made it at least what I would like (but never love, under any circumstances).

That's fine that they were on Spector's and J&D's records, but I don't see why Brian had to use them as much.
Well, I would imagine scheduling would have been awfully different without session players, considering Brian worked on tracks while the BBs toured. Instead of a couple of albums a year, I think we could cut that in half if he had to use them on everything.

And some of us actually don't analyze lyrics while listening to music at a primary level. But some of us do. I hear the words and how they are sung, how the vocal lines fit with the song, before I hear what is being sung. So unless they are just BAD (and these aren't), bad lyrics don't bother me (example of when they do bother me -- Hey Little Tomboy). Me too. And so when I hear "Fun, Fun, Fun," it's great. When I hear "I Get Around," it's great. They are clearly intended to be just good-time rock music. (For that matter, same with "Susie Cincinnati" and many others, including of this era.) But when I hear a song that has lyrics intended to do something else and they fail, I have every right to call them sh*t--and I do it. "It's About Time" is absolutely idiotic, a song about some poor hasbeen famous rock star? I'm amazed Carl could even sing that trash. I'd personally take Brian writing the Love You songs every single time. Don't mistake me (or whoever) saying that these lyrics are awful to mean that I can't appreciate songs with less-than-VDP wordplay. Sometimes it just means that, well...they don't work. They're bad.

Of course it's your opinion. But as I learned on the last version of this board--and really see the truth in now--if we all water down our opinions and point out that they're just opinions and begin disagreements with "while I understand you're entitled to your opinion," we'll all become intolerably dull and nothing we say will count. We could have one locked post under each thread that just says "MATTER OF OPINION."
It's my opinion that it's more fun and direct to say what we think, and let the arguments go as they may. Sorry if you don't agree...you're entitled to your opinion.

I just think there is nothing even moderately artistic about it. The entire thing is a series of reworkings of earlier, superior material set to timely production values for a blatantly commercial intent. No real problem with that-people are in it to make money. But it's awful, and thus deserves no money. In fact, I hope they send me my $13 back. (Or whatever the twofer cost for that and KTSA.)
