Can anybody tell what's the big deal about hearing songs you can listen anytime you like to? Everybody can pick random BBs songs to create playlist. Which leads to question - in the weird comps thread, some posters didn't like that fact about these comps. Now people say they enjoy this channel? Doesn't make sense.
Easy.. you don't have to make a playlist.. That alone saves time. And I usually listen to complete albums, but for me, I think it's exciting to put it on and you don't know what's coming up next... you hear things you may not have thought about or heard in awhile, you hear things that maybe you don't want to sit thru an entire album to get to.. it's fun! Last night doing dishes and they played Don't Worry Baby, Til I Die, Passing By, Marcella, etc. No harm in this at all. Though I did hear Cotton Fields 3 times yesterday. And yes, hopefully it will expose people to the deeper Beach Boys catalog.

If the label gave me the PLAYBACK disc and asked me to make changes (hey, it's my fantasy), here's what I would have done with it..
1. Love and Mercy 2. Walkin' the Line 3. Melt Away 4. Let It Shine 5. Some Sweet Day 6. Your Imagination 7. She Says That She Needs Me 8. Lay Down Burden 9. The First Time 10. Gettin' In Over My Head 11. Saturday Morning in the City 12. Heroes and Villians 13. Surf's Up 14. What I Really Want For Christmas 15. The Like In I Love You 16. Forever She'll Be My Surfer Girl 17. Midnight's Another Day 18. Sail Away 19. One Kind Of Love 20. Run James Run 21. Southern California
That's 80 minutes.. As it is, the official disc is a great listen, but I can't help but think casual fans miss out on too many gems.

Wow. I almost don't know what to think! One the one hand i'm really happy that all those people who haven't had a chance to see Pet Sounds Live will now get the chance. But the other part of me selfishly wishes Brian could spend more time working on another album, and if anything he probably deserves a rest from touring. (At least for a little longer)
Oh, he'll rest.. He only has 3 shows between Halloween 2016 and the end of March 2017.

Just got back from the Detroit show. What a day. Marty filled you in on the soundcheck. I believe Brian said "Johnny B Goode" was for tomorrow.. He said "Chicago." After that we got ready for the meet and greet, though I couldn't hear any of the instructions. I wasn't going to bother getting individual guys to sign specific things.. My wife got the 2 items they give you signed (poster & GOK sheet) and I got my LP jackets for "Pet Sounds" and "Love & Mercy" soundtrack signed (love that artwork). The meet & greet was very fast. The lady stood between us and the 3 guys and instructed them on what to sign. Then she kind of told us to get behind them for the picture. We did so, but it really didn't feel like I met them, or made eye contact with any of them.. so I said "do you guys shake hands?" What followed was a couple seconds of silence, and I wasn't sure they heard me, then Brian said "sure" and I got to shake all 3.. Then Brian told me to enjoy the show. That was cool! I got back in the lobby and everyone was gone. I asked the guy, "did everyone leave?" and he said "yeah, you have to, doors are at 6:30" (about an hour from now). I didn't know this.. It was probably in the inaudible instructions. So we went and put my goodies in the car and went to the Hockeytown cafe for an appetizer. Bob Lizik came in and sat at the bar with another guy. When we got back in the venue, Probyn, Nelson, and possibly Nick were walking around the merch booth area. We got to our front row seats.. Unfortunately that's a frustrating place to sit (but an awesome place to stand). Frustrating because the only way in & out of the orchestra pit is in front of us and people love to come late and leave for drinks every couple songs. Also couldn't see Brian easily over his piano.. you could see his mouth if you sat up straight, but not his chin. It was great though.. I got to stand and observe a flawless "Love & Mercy" from Brian that brought tears to my eyes. The first set was excellent and probably overshadowed "Pet Sounds" with it's energy and solid performances from all the guys. Brian's only sour notes came during the more difficult "Pet Sounds" material. Still, IJWMFTT is always excellent and he had a couple vocal moments during "That's Not Me" that got applause from the crowd. I was disappointed to hear Darian wouldn't be there, but Debbie Shair was a lot of fun to watch. God Bless this man. I got 4 autographs for each of the 3 guys, a t-shirt, program, mug, VIP passes, the poster & GOK sheet, encore setlist page from Probyn, 3 handshakes, a picture with the guys, and memories that will last me the rest of my life.

I apologize for starting any confusion.. it's possible I just read my e-mail too fast.
I just went back to it today and it says "Personal memorabilia may not get signed in addition to package contents."
Clearly this means, to me, that we can have personal stuff signed, just not AS WELL AS the other stuff they give you. Meaning, these guys aren't going to sign everything you want--which makes total sense.
Sorry.. my show is coming up Friday and I bought the tickets in late January.. So I've been thinking about meeting Brian all year.. When my e-mail came I just apparently zoned in on that one line and jumped to the wrong conclusion.

Back in the 1990's, we use to think that the live concert (Mike Love Not War) and Live From Michigan State was in fact live from Michigan State University. Then in the 1993 GV Box, we found out that the concert happened on 10/22/66 at the University Of Michigan and the tracks were released later Endless Harmony were credited as such. Now on the new PS box, it says that 3 tracks were recorded at Michigan State on 10/22/66. The guys at Cap need to only let Alan Boyd write the liners. This was not a well put together package, aside from the session notes and great remastering.
Didn't the show take place at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor? If so, that's not Michigan State at all, but the campus of the University of Michigan. Michigan State is in Lansing.. 70-90 min away.
