Were these guys just completely unaware of Brian’s issues? It’s odd to me that the brother of jimmy V would not have compassion. It wasn’t a good interview but it wasn’t particularly bad for a Brian interview either.

Sorry to see this new turn of events. I was absent from the bickering. Steve, you are one of the few people on the planet with great insight into my favorite topic. I do hope the book gets finished and at some point the study videos can be available to view. Why any true fan would jeopardize our access to this by bickering is beyond me. I’m greatful to have had one full listen before this happened. Desper is a treasure and the rules he asks us to follow are minimal and necessary.

I felt the need to post to show that there are many here who may seldom post, but still read the content and appreciate the contributions, particularly from those who where close to the band at some point. Thanks for every word, Steve.

Excellent doc. Thanks Steve!  On another note.....there is a documentary where one of Brian’s friends states that he was in the garage ready to drive somewhere with Brian during the mixing of ‘Til I Die. He said that as they were leaving, Brian heard the mix from the garage, ran back up the the booth, and added some echo. He said it “made all the difference in the world.” Do you recall this instance? Anything to add to the story? As always thanks for your valuable insight.

Really enjoyed hearing a live version of let the wind blow that I hadn’t heard before. I have to deal with hellacious traffic everyday and this station has made me actually look forward to my commute. The power of The Beach Boys....

Made my day to hear ‘til I died today, then the following song ruined it. They played summer of love. I actually got angry about it and had to calm down.
10  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Last known pictures of Dennis and Carl on: May 28, 2018, 10:54:56 AM
I was going through this entire thread, and I came across several pictures posted by a former member here by the name of Lady. Unfortunately all of the pictures are now long gone. Does anybody happen to have them saved anywhere? If I remember correctly they were all pictures of The Beach Boys in concert in 1996. I believe most of the pictures were mainly of Carl. I think there were one or two pictures of Carl in 1997 that are no longer here that I'd like to see again.

I agree, as a noob this thread is really intriguing, but it is missing many photos of Brian abd Dennis from the early 80s as well as Carl mid 90s. I’d like to be able to see them especially since I just finished Jon Stebbins book about Dennis.

Jeez. To me it seems like an appropriate way to handle the issue since there is so much time between the canceled date and the rescheduled date. Damned if you do damned if you don’t in todays world of entitlement. I’ll be happy if I ever get to see the man on stage ever again. And if it gets canceled five times and I have to rebuy ten times, lose time and money, and move from first row to nosebleeds I’ll feel privileged to be in attendance.

Happy B day SD. Thanks for the great perspective you’ve given us over the years, and thanks for your contribution to The Beach Boys!
13  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Why Do We Treat Brian Wilson Like a Child? on: April 22, 2018, 10:25:15 AM
Well for one, it is widely understood that Brian was THE creative force behind The Beach Boys, as opposed to the mop tops having Lennon, McCartney, and Martin as drivers. His story is widely known, but I don’t think of him as a child or victim, I think of him as the toughest guy to roam this earth.

I thought it was a very good movie, largely because of Giamatti and Cusack. I thought some of the 60’s stuff was a little cheesy, and I wish they had focused more on the period form 67-81, but then again I would enjoy a 10 hour beach boy movie. I think this was great for the casual fan or newcomer. I think it did a good job of conveying what a tough life Brian has lived. I think it leaves many new fans wanting to learn more about his story and his music. Giamatti does such a great job as Landy, I wish we could’ve seen more of him as well. The Burger scene where he is bragging about his subculture book was a favorite of mine, as was the ‘Til I die montage.
